The location was perfect. Very convenient to everything a tourist would want to see/do in Lucerne. The staff was friendly and very helpful. The breakfast was very nice with a good variety of offerings, including meats, cheese. Yogurts, juice, apples, oatmeal with toppings, and delicious breads. Everything was very clean. While there easn't any luxury, none was expected, and we did sleep comfortably. The best part that will be appreciated by American travelers in summer, was that the tap water was suitable for drinking and it came out of the tap very COLD. As there is no air conditioning (again, none expected in such a place), the cold water was a life-saver.

Our room was directly over an outside dining area, and since there wasn't any air conditioning , we had to sleep with the window open. We used white noise (and the room did include a fan, also), so the noise was manageable, but cigarette smoke kept making its way into the room, and was difficult to get out.

Location great, Staff great, beds super comfy! Wifi wasn’t available on the patio. Only thing I would have changed is that 1-there wasn’t screens on the windows. And it was 37 degrees, so we left the window open to cool the room and we’re covered in mosquito bites. There also wasn’t a blind or curtain on the window.

Novel prison hotel In the middle of old town, lovely 15 minute walk from the main train station. Super friendly staff! Bettina was an angel always smiling and helped with tourist card and advise on where to go what to do where to eat . Use your hotel provided guest tourist card for free public transportation and discounts. Simple but filling Swiss breakfast buffet (bread, cured meats, cheese, Muesli). Garden at the 1st floor where you can be alone with your wine /beer. Food /shopping are within a few minutes from the doorstep.

Quadruple room is tiny with hardly any space . One small window which can be opened. No AC but small fan for circulation. Tiny toilet /shower but at least en-suite . But this is Lucerne hotels are Expensive but this is the cheapest highly rated property in old town

Everything was very clean and the garden outside was a wonderful place to hangout and relax. I love that the hostel used to be a jail and that some of the room still have the old cell doors on them. There as also some cool displays about the buildings history, which make the location even more interesting. The staff was very friendly and checking in and out was easy. Breakfast options were varied and definitely provided a full meal.

The kitchen area is very small, with seating for only 2 or 3 people. Tiny refrigerator as well. The only thing that I did not like about the room itself was that my bed was way to close to the door and I would wake up every time it was opened at night because of the sound and the light from the hallway shining in in my face.

Such a fun, funky & unique find! (How often can you say you slept in a former prison cell turned hostel?) Really unique, clean, one-of-a-kind experience. Pleasantly surprised to discover the jail cell rooms all had their own bathroom & shower, not shared as we expected (hard to tell from photos). Location was another perk! Minutes walk from the old town. Super easy to find & we passed the old town every day & night to get to it which was a nice bonus. Self check-in was super easy too.

Only critique would be it’s a little tricky to tell if you’ve booked a room on the jail cell side or the other dorm style rooms. We didn’t know for sure until we showed up, it was hard to tell online. (Also price is quite high, but seems competitive for Lucerne. We were very happy we chose this place!)

Helpful, friendly staff who went above and beyond for us. Excellent recommendations for day trips and girls at reception booked them for us, taking all the hassle out of it for us! My mother sustained an injury on one of the mountains and when the night porter heard she had been in hospital all evening, he did everything he could to make her feel comfortable - got extra pillows to raise her injured leg, made fresh bread, tea and a box of food for her. We were so grateful to the staff.

Rooms a little small but of course that is to be expected..... good room under beds for bags however.

EVERYTHING..IN THE HEART OF LUZERN. NEAR TO TRAIN MAIN STATION AND SHOPS. GOOD STAFF AT THE RECEPTIONIS COUNTER. EVERY INFORMATIVE AND HELPFUL.

The property is near everything. Near the shops, the pier and the train station. Lots of restaurants around the area too. The staff are also very accommodating. They answered all our questions and helped us with tours.

It was too hot, the fan was too small and it doesn’t revolve. The breakfast could be better. Only bread, cheeses, hams and cold boiled eggs are served. When they clean they don’t vaccuum so the dust accumulates especially under the bed. Also the bin is too small.

We liked the idea of staying in a former prison and the visual aspect was very cool. Large heavy cell doors and small barred windows in the room. The bathroom was modern and very clean. They brought fresh towels every day and the beds were comfortable.

We were there late August and it was very warm. The room was suffocatingly hot. We had to leave our door open to get a slight breeze through the small window. They do provide a fan but still very hot and sweaty in the room.

Everything.The place is clean,the room,bathroom,and I most like the kitchen.I didn't plan to stay in Luzern in my initial plan,however,I want to visit Luzern.So,I booked my stay here with no expectation,but the hostel is beyond my expectation.love the staffs.whenever I will visit Luzern next time,I would love to stay in this hostel again.I love Luzern! Such a lovely city for sure!😍

I think the automatic lamp in the bathroom as I am phobia of dark.Overall,I love to stay here.
