in Bangkok, location is the key. The city’s infamous traffic is not much improved with fewer tourists so the convenience of the excellent skytrain system in getting around is what makes the Anantara a great choice. The interior decoration style has not changed in the hotel’s 40 years history and the dark wood panelling especially at the front reception area needs an update. It was not a bright welcome and the same goes for the outdated decor of the Executive lounge. Needs a renovation. The food and beverage offerings are superb and typical of most 5 star hotels in Thailand, the breakfast buffet was outstanding. And nowhere in the world can beat Thailand for the most amazing service standards.

Update and brighten the reception area and the Executive lounge. The dark wood panelling is so 40 years old.

Very nice Hotel and very good staff

Sometimes noisy as above my room I heard people walking around . I assume it was the executive lounge and people walked with high heels on wooden floor.

located near some good shopping malls, however, the area is crowded. the lobby was nice and wide

the room felt old and needs to be renovated. check in process were kinda annoying, as we have booked a twin beds room and the tried to force us to take the king bed and the receptionist said that the did not receive our booking details from booking. at the end we insisted on getting the booked room and they gave it. also our room was in another building which is in open building and you can hear the rain and all the noise from outside.

Friendly and well considerate staffs. Swimming pool was great in terms of depth from 120cm to 300cm. Variety restaurants you could choose.

You can feel the tradition and asiatic high life, and the acqua bar and lobby are real treasures

facilities have come into years, plus there is quite some noise because of surrounding construction sites. if you seek the traditional experience, go for it, however for value-money there are better deals in BKK

I requested a non-smoking room. the floor was non-smoking but the room 538 stank of stale smoke / no other words to describe it.

Great place with fantastic atmosphere. Excellent staff who are very welcoming with a great positive attitude. The CSG are exceptionally amazing. The breakfast is so rich .

The Wi-Fi connection is not as great as the rest of the services at the hotel. The TV setting is not very user friendly. It cuts suddenly and you have to reboot it again. Sometimes you got to reboot for two or even three times to get the TV on.

Siam suite is spacious. The staff were helpful. Very near a BTS station.

I waited too long to get a taxi at the hotel. Concierge staff were too busy assisting other hotel guests. The hotel could consider installing a taxi calling sign at the hotel driveway entrance.

The hotel is beautiful and the staff are fantastic. I was especially grateful that the concierge helped me arrange access to the business centre and childcare at short notice. The pool staff were very friendly and caring, everyone was so attentive.

My only one criticism is coffee at breakfast (and this is only because it’s the only thing!). It’s great because you can order anything, but you have to order it, so you can’t grab your own cup of coffee and have to wait for sometimes very busy staff to order and bring it.

The Anantara Siam was a lovely oasis from the crowds and heat of Bangkok. The bedroom and bathroom were large, the overall decor was a nice mix of Thai and Western design, the staff was gracious and attentive, the breakfast buffet was delicious with tremendous variety. Plus it was less than a 5 minute walk from a SkyTrain station.

If a person wanted to really nitpick, you make a case that the carpet in our room should have been replaced, given several spots. But overall cleanliness was excellent, and the value great vis-a-vis a property like the Bangkok Four Seasons (where some friends were unexpectedly staying at 3x the price at the same time we were at the Anantara).
