No matter is pretty close to the Wall the location of this hotel is good. Walking distance to the main attractions, including temples, restaurants and bars close by. Friendly staff. If you have early tours please let them know in order to have basic breakfast ready for you early in the morning. The hotel is clean. Good value for the room rates. Good breakfast, delicious fruits. I saw some of the guests enjoying the pool area. I do recommend this hotel.

The had great service: ordered a taxi for our departure and above all: when I forgot my i phone they came to the airport to give it to me. Really a great service!!

They gave me a free upgrade so I had a much bigger room (and might I say, probably the best view in the entire hotel!). The bed was extremely comfortable, there was water heating, and the wifi was amazing. Staff was also so nice to carry my huge suitcase up the stairs.

There was a rogue cockroach in my room :( And no lift, but to be honest, two flights of stairs won't kill ya. Suck it up!

Such a great hotel. Cozy, great staff, clean, nicely decorated. The bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was great, with a lot of fruit options and choice for freshly made pancakes, eggs, fried noodles. It's nice to be able to keep the window open for fresh air with the mosquito cover. There are plenty of plugs for charging devices although I had to use a converter for EU plugs. The location is in a quiet alley but so close to all the main areas for sightseeing. Plenty of songthaew passing by, as well as tuktuks. Without traffic, it took just 10 minutes to get to from the airport. Thank you, will stay here again if I come to Chiang Mai.

I was in room C304, which could use some additional soundproofing for music and sound from nearby bars. However it wasn't bad and they close at 1:00.

Comfortable room, bed, and location was good.

The necessity of having to run a gauntlet of smokers and ashtrays to get to either the pool or the exit was not good. If at all possible, put smoking areas somewhere other than where anyone else would want to be or has to pass through.

Great value for money Hotel: 1. Excellent, courteous staff 2. Homely atmosphere 3. Appreciate free use of washing machine and drying area for budget travellers (although laundry services are not that expensive in CM) 4. The breakfast has a nice little spread, given the cost of stay Location : 1. Very Close to Thapae Gate - colourful, interesting events are held there 2. Safe neighborhood without the sleazy feel of the night market area across the moat 3. Moat House, a pub 2 units away has great live band performances every night (I think). Good vibes.

Nothing to dislike. Although the breakfast does get boring after 3 days but nothing to fuss about.

Somwang was perfect for me and my friends for a few days. The location was within walking distance of the old city, temples, bars, restaurants, etc. The room was nothing special but comfortable. We had one ant problem when we first arrived but they tended to it immediately and we had no issues afterward. While they don't have airport transportation, they helped us call a car. Breakfast was okay - nice buffet to choose from and a small range of meals.

The pool is nice, but there aren't many chairs to lounge in surrounding it. Breakfast could have more variety.

We stayed here during Yi Peng festival, which the hotel was decorated beautifully for. The hotel itself was picturesque, and the rooms were clean and spacious. The hotel is in a great location to explore Chiang Mai, as it’s only a few minutes walk away from Tha Phae Gate. Breakfast was great, with a wide selection of food available. Overall, I’d absolutely stay here again, and it was one of the better hotels we stayed at during our time in Thailand. The staff were great, and the lady at the front desk was especially knowledgeable and helpful!

Somwang is a great hotel in old town in Chiang Mai. It is extremely convenient for transport and very walkable to many temples and markets. Staff were helpful and friendly. The room was a reasonable size, with a comfortable bed and very clean. The included breakfast was very good, with cooked western options as well as a good range of fruit. The pool is very pleasant after spending the day sightseeing.

There is no elevator which was not an issue for us at all but if mobility is an issue for you, ensure you are on the ground floor.
