I recently stayed at the Historic Galata Hotel, and it was an excellent experience. The location is strategic, making it incredibly convenient for exploring the city. It is within walking distance of Tophane tram station, Karakoy ferry station, and it’s also close to Taksim, giving easy access to many key attractions. I stayed in the duplex unit, and the room was incredibly spacious and comfortable. It came with a simple kitchen and a fridge, which was perfect for preparing light meals or snacks, a nice touch of convenience, especially for longer stays. The kitchen area also had a large sofa, which was a great place to relax after a day out. Despite being in the heart of the city, the hotel itself was wonderfully quiet. One of the highlights of my stay was the warm hospitality. The owner and his wife were very friendly and accommodating, always ready to help and make sure I had everything I needed. Their personal touch added a lot to the overall experience, making it feel more like a home away from home. If you’re looking for a comfortable, centrally located, and welcoming place to stay in Istanbul, the Historic Galata Hotel is an excellent choice.

This place is on an ideal location. On one side, you have Istiklal street on 5mins walk. Other side, you have Galata Tower and Port on 6/7 mins walk. For Sultanahmet, Hagia Sophia or Grand Bazar, there is a T1 tram line on a 5min walk which takes you to these locations in just 10mins. The facility is itself very vintage, comfortable and clean. The hotel is ran by two brothers and these guys are doing a brilliant job. They help you in every way possible. I lost my wallet in Istanbul while arriving to this hotel (all money and cards are gone). These guys lend me money until I received money from my relatives. Tha nks guyzz!!! You are angels.

Hotel rooms are spacious. We had a two-level apartment facing the street, where the bedroom was on the top level while the lower level had a small small kitchenette, a small fridge, a sofa, some dishes, along the bathroom. The hotel location is a bit hidden, but the area is mostly quiet and very safe, some blocks away from Galata tower, Istiklal street (uphill, keep that in mind) and some nice cafes and restaurants. A small grocery store is a few steps away, where you can get water, bread, cheese and basic goods, if needed. Tram station Tophane is at walking distance, providing access to line T1 that takes you to the most important touristic attractions (Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, Basilica Cistern, Grand Bazaar, etc.). However, the best of our stay was the friendly, attentive and professional attitude of the staff. Their willingness to help is remarkable and they provide as much help as they can to make the guest's stay as comfortable as possible. They will help you to get diverse services to move around the city, like SIM cards, city tours, professional guides, restaurant recommendations, food delivery services, etc.

Cleaning can be improved, especially on the apartment's lower level (surfaces, sofa, etc). The rooms didn't have much light either and it also had many details caused by deterioration, like paint peeling off the wall, rusty metal hand rails in the stairs, broken soap dispenser in the bathroom, etc Those things could be easily fixed and may improve the guest's experience sensibly. External noise could be a problem in street-facing rooms.

Great accommodations, located in a quiet neighborhood but very close to all the attractions, galata tower, restaurants, harborfront, parks, coffee shops, and other cool places. Wifi in the hotel is excellent, you can work from your room in peace. Convenient that the reception is open 24/7. The owners of the hotel are very friendly and always help if you need anything. The rooms are all spacious, well furnished and with their own kitchen - which is very convenient. I fully recommend this hotel for those who want a relaxing stay at the hotel, but also to be close to all significant locations.

We liked the location of the property in relation to the main attractions in Istanbul. It was very comfortable if you enjoy walks with places to stop for food all along the way. If necessary it was possible to get the tram which was close by. It was great for our visit. The staff were very supportive to our requests and available any time.

A lovely neighbourhood, but if you are a light sleeper than you will likely be woken up by sounds outside It was very comfortable and considering the building is older some things are expected, like the main bedroom door did not close completely, and the shower would not drain quickly if the water pressure was set high.

We took the apartment with a garden at the first floor. Very stylish and cosy. Very close to Galata tower (3 min walk) and Galata Port (5 min), Dolmabahce palace (10 min), Egyptian market (10 min). Perfect location, good price and a very nice and patient family who own the place. It is very safe to stay for girls traveling alone. My friend felt on the wet rainy street and almost broke her leg and the guys where very helpfull with the information about the best hospital, with the taxi, transfer, they are really good and trusty people. Among all budget hotels in Istanbul I stayed in, I think this one is the best. As a traveller I really value authenticity and this hotel has it. Old furniture, old house, but still very nice touches. The room was very specious with high ceiling. The staff was truly friendly and willing to help. Location is 5 min walk from Galata Tower, a bit uphill, but this area is all like that. Totally recommend.

I can not find any negatives. Yes some pieces in the room were not perfect, but I was not expecting it from a budget hotel.

Walls are paper thin so you hear neighbours and people from the hotel watching videos. Nothing that can't be solve with some earplugs though. Also, sadly our room was situated right next to the smoking spot of the hotel so we would get the smell in if the window was open.

We loved the decor of the building, just as the pics show. The bed was comfy, and the couch was comfy also. Great staff, friendly and helpful and always onsite. Safe as houses.

Not that it is a dislike, but the room we stayed in would have suited 2 people much better than it suited us 3 people. The steep but short walk from the main street to the house was tough on tired legs, especially for the older members of our family.

A wonderful place! Great location, service, and friendly hosts. Everything was very clean and cozy. The hotel is conveniently close to Galata Tower but situated on a quiet street away from the tourist crowds. The room décor was outstanding: a charming mix of traditional Turkish accents and modern amenities. It was warm, the Wi-Fi worked perfectly, and there was no noise to disturb our sleep.
