Alexandra was amazing! Such a lovely bubbly warm welcome - she made the experience! Breakfast was amazing! The hotel decor is gorgeous. Everything is neat and tidy and clean. I would have like to have tried the restaurant as it looks lovely.

The bedroom is very pretty and I feel lucky to have had one of the big special rooms. I observed however that although the linen was fresh and comfi, the pillows, duvet and mattress are past their best and unfortunately that combination gave me a disturbed and uncomfortable nights sleep. I would have appreciated a waffle robe and toiletries for a room at this price of this nature advertising 'luxury'. I had assumed and hadnt brought these items and it may not have been this way but it felt like the soaps left by the shower were left behind by mistake by a previous guest. They didnt look intentional.

I recently had the pleasure of staying at the Steventon House Hotel after a last-minute booking, and I must say, it far exceeded my expectations. The hotel itself is nestled in a beautiful, somewhat remote area, making it a peaceful and serene retreat. Although it's a 20-minute drive from Oxford, I found the location to be perfect for escaping the hustle and bustle of the city. One of the standout aspects of this hotel is the incredibly friendly and welcoming staff. They go above and beyond to make your stay enjoyable, ensuring that every need is met. The fact that breakfast was included in the stay was a delightful surprise, and it was not only tasty but also served with a smile. The restaurant in the hotel looked so inviting, and the menu was so tempting that we almost canceled our dinner reservations in Oxford to dine in. However, we decided to stick to our original plans, but I couldn't help but wish we had the chance to experience a meal there. The aromas and ambiance were truly enticing. Ample parking was a convenience, and the staff's attentiveness throughout our stay was remarkable. I couldn't have asked for a more pleasant experience at the Steventon House Hotel. If you're seeking a tranquil and picturesque getaway with friendly service, this hotel is a fantastic choice. I highly recommend it and look forward to returning in the future.

The main Hotel is very grand looking with a large car park but the rooms we stayed in were your run of the mill rooms

Many of the fixings were passed it loose door handles toilet seat not fixed correctly, shower only luke warm….cobwebs and dust.Step very loose as you come out of the door from our building! 1st couple of drinks from the bar were cloudy but soon rectified with a couple of free drinks to apologise! On the Upside the food was delicious

The quitiness, decor and room comfortability are Steventon House strenghts. Service was acceptable and warm. Breakfast - a variety of full english, omlette and/or porridge with juices, tea/coffes and cereals. Lovely grounds with great parking space. We loved that it was just right and near our children that resides near Wantage.

It could been better if business was better for these type of traditional English B&Bs. Unfortunately during our 3 days stay - 2 of them, the hotel opened just for us, so services were limited but professionally delivered.

The room was very nice with all the facilities I expected and all working. Nice comfy bed. The dining room in the evening was depressing though. The evening menu was entirely of Indian food. I like Indian food well enough but am not a huge fan. The vegetarian meal I had was pleasant but I was very tired and couldn't finish it. Breakfast was fine.

I'm not sure an entirely Indian menu in a hotel is a good idea. Not everyone likes curries but if you are a guest staying at the hotel and it's late, you are tired and exhausted, as I was, you have no choice but to eat in. The only other thing I didn't like was being asked to pay for everything in advance, (apart from dinner which also had to be paid for straight away). The moment I stepped in to the breakfast room, I was asked to pay. I think the experience would have been improved if these items could have been put on my bill and paid on leaving.

Room was clean tidy and well presented and glad to see the inclusion of the USB Phone charging points on the Wall sockets. Bed was well made and comfortable. Breakfast was of the usual high standard and staff were very friendly and helpful

In the Rooms a small fridge for keeping water and soft drinks cool would be appreciate, inclusion of Euro plug point in the room next to the Electrical sockets

Room was very comfortable with plenty of space. Lovely building. Restaurant attached to the hotel was absolutely gorgeous and would recommend to anyone. Breakfast was also very nice. Staff were lovely to chat too throughout the stay.

Wifi strength on the top floor was not great so ended up using my mobile data. Room could maybe do with a fresh coat of paint.

It was very clean and comfortable and the food was lovely. The member of staff was on her own cause we were the only residents staying so she did all aspects which she was very competent with and very pleasant at all times.

Not so much a not like but it was very strange that we seemed to be the only residents in that weekend. So exceptionally quiet.

Receptionist was polite well mannered and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable, Breakfast was perfect staff very helpful and polite. Had an evening meal which was Excellent all supplied served by helpful friendly staff

Some areas of the hotel could use a little updating and a refresh, and a bit of modern landscaping to the front gardens and parking area.

Antique sewing machines and photos thereof decorate the interior - we were informed that the Singer factory, back in the day, was located nearby. The hotel was actually the house that Mr. Singer's son bought for his mistress, the famous American dancer Isadora Duncan. Joshua, the manager, who acted as waiter, concierge, bartender, and central info point was friendly, attentive to all our needs. The room and bathroom are sized nicely with spacious showers (more hooks for the towels would have been helpful). Our group consisted of 3 couples. We came by air, the others with a car by ferry. We used public transport (bus X2) to and from Oxford - no problem by day, but by night it was scary, walking on an unlit, very narrow footpath next to a high speed road way. So at night we used taxis. The hotel has a lot of green around it, so it is tranquil, great to unwind after a frantic day in the city. We ordered some tidbits at the Indian restaurant with our drinks - lovely to sit outdoors, enjoy the scenery, with tasty snacks.

The beds are a bit too small for Dutch people, making it a bit tight at night. Breakfast could be slightly enhanced beyond the typical egg, sausage, toast fare. Fresh fruit & avocados would do the trick.
