lovely little old hotel with a beautiful garden. welcoming staff, fantastic breakfast and comfy bed. secure parking with lots of spaces.

it’s a bit dated and could use a fresh coat of paint here and there, but nothing that could spoil the stay.

This hotel has a very Victorian look and feel about it, a lot of original features that gives it a homely feeling. The owners are slowly updating the rooms but as all things it takes time but I personally love the old design as it gives the hotel character and charm. I take no notice of negative reviews as this hotel as it is going through renovations in the back ground and if people are wanting to stay in a premiere hotel then a character building like this is not that sterile looking. The Dunmar gives you the impression of its age and the decor is stunning downstairs in the lounge bar and dining area We totally had a fantastic time and so did our dog Lucy who was made very welcome, we will definitely return

thankfully I have no negatives, anything that looks dated is because of its age and character of the building I think with the creaky stairs it gives it the atmosphere of a place with a story to tell.

The Dunmar House is in a convenient location. We had both dinner and breakfast during our stay. Both were excellent. The staff is super helpful and friendly and went out of their way to make sure that our stay was good. They work well together and all seem to be able to perform in multiple roles. The bed was comfortable and the room was spacious.

The building could use a bit of updating in some areas. It is a bit tattered at the edges and just needs to be upkept a bit. Understandably this is difficult with a large older home.

The hotel is lovely, the very few staff were excellent and friendly. The location perfect for visiting our family. The room was beautiful with all the old fashioned furniture and plenty of storage and room to move about. The food was excellent and bar service good.

Unfortunately in the middle of winter it was cold and the room freezing despite the radiator which was apparently turned down until we arrived. The duvet seemed to be for summer weather and we spent the night freezing. I did mention this at checkout and suggested at least spare blankets be provided for guests to use in the room.

Meals, including breakfast were excellent. Being able to have our dog in the bar whilst we had our evening meal was a bonus. Surrounding area is very quiet with reasonable walks for the dog. The room was spacious with a couple of arm chairs to relax in whilst watching TV, big improvement on sitting on the bed.

The mattress requires replacing, hard with little give, not very comfortable.

Food was excellent, freshly cooked with a well balanced menu. The chef was happy to stay a little later due to us being late ordering lunch. All members of staff were very friendly and went out of their way to be helpful. Our room was clean, comfortable and had great views. Dunmar House is excellent value for the money.

The installations are old, and plenty of mold problems on the corridors (pieces of wallpaper in the cieling half falling down) our lock worked very badly, and we doubted being able to get in or be able to lock the room. The the shower system makes loads of noise.

Everything, the staff, the food. And the location was close to my son that I was visiting. The only thing I would suggest needs doing urgently, is some painting and decorating to the area by the fireplace. And work to repair the pot holes in the driveway.

The house looks stunning from the outside and has lovely grounds where it’s nice to sit out in the sun and enjoy a few drinks on a sunny day. The staff and service were fantastic, they couldn’t have been more friendly and helpful. The food was great too - our full Scottish breakfast in the morning was obviously very freshly cooked and was delicious. We were staying for a wedding, so dinner the evening before was the wedding meal - it was delicious and very well presented.

The interior of the hotel and the bedrooms are quite dated.

I loved the location, the beautiful, old building with a lot of character. The staff was nice. I liked the food, the breakfast was good and varied.

I didn't like there was dust on the bathroom floor near the walls. I also had diner at the restaurant. My husband had a very good dish but mine was a little bland. Not very tasty even though not bad.
