Location was out of the way down a narrow country road so quiet and peaceful. The breakfast was great, full english cooked fresh as well as continental breakfast offereings. The hosts were so nice and accomodating. There is lots of hiking close by, and it's a short drive to Ambleside & Hawkshead where there is shopping, restaurants and more walking/hiking opportunities. The room had everything we neeeded, including a wonderful view as far as you could see. We even liked being woken by the rooster early in the morning! Highly recommend.

We booked the suite for 3 nights for a hiking weekend and a friend’s wedding. After a 6 hour journey from Norfolk the hosts were incredibly accommodating at our late check in hour and had great communication. The room was spectacular, spacious, beautiful furnishings, fruit platter, a minibar and most importantly the views. We had plenty of storage space, a full length wardrobe and ample sockets, including by the bed on both sides. The daily continental or cooked breakfast was delicious. The grounds were stunning and the welcome by the chickens and peacock each day was lovely, the views spectacular and I loved the touch of the twinkling tea lights leading you back to the house after dusk. Also getting ready for the wedding the bathroom had great lighting, plenty of mirrors and a well powered shower, hot hot water and a very good hair dryer (important for those of us with long hair!). It was a really easy drive around on very quiet roads to Langdale, Ambleside and Windermere. We had to leave very early on the Monday and came back to a small care package for us to set us on our long journey home. We will absolutely stay again if visiting the lakes, thank you so much.

Nothing, brilliant stay.

Extremely beautiful surroundings, great breakfast, extremely friendly staff. Would definitely recommend this as a place to stay, and will definitely book to stay here again if I do go back to visit this area again. The owners were extremely friendly and provided us with good information our stay.

The parking was the only issue that was a little difficult, especially if it was filled up with other occupants. A tight space and being on an incline made this tricky. We did manage to navigate it in the end but it was quite tight. In all honesty I don't think there is anything the owners can do about this - however a pre-warning would be good.

BEAUTIFUL HOUSE AND WELL KEPT GARDENS SHARED WITH THE RESIDENT COCKERALS AND PEACOCK WERE FASCINATING.STUNNING VIEWS FANTASTIC HOSTS VERY FRIENDLY AND HAD A VAST KNOWLEDGE OF THE AREA.BREAKFAST WAS PRE-ORDER WHICH WAS VERY TASTY SCRAMBLED EGGS SUPERB FROM THE CHICKENS...EVERYWHERE IN THE HOUSE WAS SPOTLESS,.

WE BOOKED A SUPERIOR DOUBLE ROOM BUT THERE WERE NO BEDSIDE TABLES WITH DRAWS JUST A SMALL TABLE WITH A LAMP THE WARDROBE WAS SO BIG WITH A MIRROR ON THE INSIDE THERE WAS NO SPACE FOR A DRESSING TABLE WITH DRAWS AND A MIRROR.THE ONLY PLACE TO PUT YOUR TOILETRIES WERE THE WINDOWSILLS.SO THIS ROOM FOR US WAS DISSAPOINTING AFTER SEEING THE OTHER ROOM NEXT TO US(the door was open) was also a double and so much nicer than ours so it spoilt it for me...

Beautiful location with views out over the hills. Nice to wake up in the morning with the sun streaming through the window and seeing the cows and sheep meandering around their fields. High Grassing also have their own peacock strutting its stuff and chickens, which make for entertaining viewing if you get to sit outside. Breakfast in the conservatory is excellent, a range of cereals, fruit, yoghurts and the option to have a full cooked breakfast as well. The bed is very comfortable and provides a good nights sleep. A very modern on suite bathroom, with large walk in shower and a large changing area. Downstairs is a sizeable communal living room with the conservatory leading off. A very pleasant stay and recommended to anyone wanting peace and quiet after a busy day in The Lakes. Ambleside is a 10 minute drive away, plenty of good restaurants or take-aways amongst the many Outdoor Activity Shops.

Your on-suite toilet activities may be a bit embarrasing if you are uncomfortable in front of your partner. However there is the downstairs Living Room, somewhere you can pop too while your other half uses the wc. Also, and this has nothing to do with High Grassings, beware of the local roads - very narrow and your delivery vans will hussle you and zip around the local area at speed. Can be rather intimidating.

This place is charming - from the chickens and peacock wandering the lands , to the twinkling candles lit at dusk - I felt relaxed as soon as I arrived. The hosts could not have been more helpful ! We had planned out walks but David gave us a map of a walk he recommended that took us through such varied countryside and away from the crowds with lots of watering holes on the way . Room was spotless , with all the amenities you’d expect from this calibre of b&b

If you are looking for a buzzing night life and pub next door - this isn’t for you. There is a great pub 20 mins walk away with amazing food and we had a lovely walk there and back - one way along a quiet road and the other through some fields .

Fantastic, friendly hosts, very comfortable bed and clean room, well-furnished, lovely breakfast. We loved the peacock and the mumma hen walking her chicks outside the window in the garden. Lovely scenery and a good base location if you drive a car.

Nothing! All great! The road to the house is in places a single lane with passing points but that's what we expected from the location, and we didn't have any issues.

Our stay at High Grassings, Lake District Bed and Breakfast was nothing short of magical. Nestled in the heart of breathtaking scenery, this charming B&B offered the perfect blend of comfort and elegance. The hosts were incredibly warm and welcoming, providing personalized service that made us feel right at home. Each morning, we were greeted with a sumptuous breakfast that catered to all tastes, featuring fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. The room was beautifully appointed, with attention to detail that ensured a luxurious and restful experience. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud, and the views from our window were picturesque, offering a serene backdrop to our stay. The location was ideal for exploring the natural beauty of the Lake District, with easy access to roads, trails and lakes. Tarn Hows was close by and simply quintessentially English countryside at its best! What truly set this B&B apart was the genuine care and hospitality of the hosts. They went above and beyond to ensure our visit was memorable, providing insightful recommendations and thoughtful touches throughout our stay. David & Michelle May 2024.

Nothing.

Perfect if you like a non generic hotel type stay. Tucked away right along the winding undulating narrow roads this area offers quite near Coniston Water. A great view across the fields with a charming rural ambience matched by friendly non intrusive and considerate hosts. The rooms and guest areas feel very relaxed and homely.

As a B&B for me this was just what I was looking for and there are enough pubs and restaurants not too far away by car for your evening meals. Fortunately the type of guests that would want to book here are probably quieter than the norm so noise from the other rooms is probably at a minimum in this nicely converted house.

The house was beautiful surrounded by countryside on all sides, the hosts friendly, the breakfast delicious and the rooms clean and well appointed.

The shower was quite old and whilst the pressure was good it did make a lot of noise in the morning, and the walls are quite thin so you can easily hear other guests moving about. It wasn't an issue during our stay as it seems we were all early to retire, however that is very much dependent on the other guests.
