Love the location of The Three Shires - it's in a beautiful peaceful setting. There's a lovely small beer garden with flowers and running water - and private parking for guests. The rooms are clean, comfortable and have great views. Bathrooms are modern, bright with plentiful hot water and good pressure. Quality of food at breakfast and dinner is high, and seating areas pleasant.

Dining times are quite restrictive, dinner bookings are essential and breakfast is limited to a one-hour window from 8.15-9.15. As noted before, the quality of food is excellent, but portion sizes are small and not inexpensive.

It is a little remote and road a bit narrow in places if passing another vehicle. Very comfortable stay and delicious food but the location didn’t suit us as just too far from nearest amenities. Must admit reading about Three Shires Inn didn’t really say that it was quite so remote. However we would recommend for walkers but we are not so somewhere nearer town centre would suit us better. We had a leak in our bedroom which was dealt with immediately and we were upgraded to the suite which was fantastic. Food and alcohol was on the expensive side but over all a very pleasant 2days.

Nothing to dislike about Inn.

Super clean and comfortable rooms of perfect size for two travellers. Very comfortable beds with lovely linen. Shower and bathroom were modern and clean. Very strong shower!! Love the walk in. We had dinner both nights on our stay in the restaurant below and food was exceptional. Delivered fast and fresh with great ingredients. Breakfast was also delicious. Perfectly situated for local walks within Langdale valley. We explored Slaters Bridge which was a 10 minute walk. And just a 10 minute drive up towards Blea Tarn.

Shower did get a little cold in the night time. And lost pressure for a minute or two when using, presume from maybe others using at the same time during busy times.

Beautiful location, quiet and peaceful with amazing views. The beer garden is perfect on a sunny day. It was a quiet period so staff were very attentive and were able to accommodate an early dinner booking. The room was small but very comfortable and had a lovely view. Very nice bathroom, great shower and loved the large, lighted mirror. Breakfast options were good and high quality.

Dinner was very nice, but a little pricey. I felt that the portions were small for the cost and didn't appreciate an extra charge for sauce for the steak. However - this wouldn't prevent us from returning.

I enjoyed the hotel’s quiet location in a pretty valley with scenic views. The hotel is very efficiently run by great staff who looked after us really well. The food was excellent, vegetarian choices were thoughtful and delicious, and not just the usual boring macaroni cheese or mushroom stroganoff which no one really wants! The dining room was nicely lit and had a warm cosy atmosphere. We were super comfortable in our room with modern en suite bathroom. The hotel was a great base for walking in Little Langdale, and only 30 minutes drive into Great Langdale and the Langdale Pikes. We would definitely stay here again in future.

Nothing, we were happy with everything

A fabulous hotel in a wonderful location, the owners and front of house team are incredibly friendly and helpful, the room was immaculate and the bed super comfortable, the restaurant has a great selection to choose from and the quality of food top notch, the bar area cosy and the outside seating area a lovely place to enjoy the views with a pint, faultless experience and our new 'home' in the Lakes, a special thanks Tony and Lee.

Beautiful location and very convenient for local walking and within easy reach of other destinations. The Inn itself was excellent in all ways. Rooms had everything needed and were very well presented - excellent shower and very comfortable bed. The included breakfast was super and the evening meals on the menu were of a high standard. Would definitely recommend eating in, unless prepared to drive back out to nearby Ambleside. We had a very relaxing stay and were well looked after even for a one night stay.

Nothing.

Wonderfully peaceful and scenic location. Julie the lady who runs it was welcoming, friendly and ensured we had all we needed. She has great local knowledge of walks and other places to visit. Rest of the staff were great too, always attentive and friendly. Our room was really lovely. The food was always delicious. Can’t wait to return.

Nothing whatsoever.
