Outstanding restaurant with terrific dinner food and service and cozy ambience. The ground floor garden room, though small, was efficiently laid out, and had a nice bathtub/shower combination. The dining and seating areas were very comfortable, as was the bed. I also liked that the nighstands had drawers, there was a normal closet with hangers and enough drawer space to put short stay items, and an in-room coffee/tea kettle. Sweet treats welcomed us on arrival in our room.

The room was a bit warm and humid in late September (no AC). There was no mini-fridge in the room. The bathroom had only minimal space to lay out toiletries.

This booking was the happiest surprise we encountered on our time in England! While we knew we had booked a lovely hotel near our destination, the service was so exceptional that it quickly became the most memorable part of our visit. Zoe, Josh, Georgia, and Carlos made us feel like family. They were incredibly personable and accommodating to our group of 8 (sisters and mother!) and facilitated an incredible evening dining in their restaurant that will live in our memories forever. The food was extraordinary (we even asked that they bring out the chefs--it was THAT good!), the charming ambiance and location absolute perfection, but the attention to detail and genuine care of the staff is what made our stay a 15/10. We were all so excited to go to breakfast after the wonderful evening and the 3-course meal did not disappoint! And the morning staff were also lovely and caring. The rooms are each uniquely decorated and extremely comfortable. We were greeted with fresh cookies, waters, teas, and hot chocolate. The bathrooms have been beautifully updated and the beds were comfortable. We loved walking the property and town and would be thrilled to stay here again. Cannot recommend highly enough--it was the experience of a lifetime!

Great hotel, beautiful garden, great staff, welcoming and accommodating ! Everything is really clean and cosy, very good breakfast. The location is great, the only down point being it is only separated from the road by a river and some trees. So expect it to be a bit noisy during the day if you want to spend time in the garden. You won’t hear the river much. Gets calmer at night. The river is beautiful. Ashford is a great village, far from the busyness of Bakewell. Overall I highly recommend this place. The Sunday roast was really good.

The location is so lovely! You are taken back and feels like you are in a different world! The food was amazing. They clearly take pride in their food here! The rooms were super clean! I used to clean 5 Star rooms in college--so I have an eye for this! Rooms were also super cozy with the cutest view of the river! Also, they are the perfect size--and on the bigger side for space. The staff seemed family oriented --super nice and went above and beyond for us! I have never experienced such hospitality.

Absolutely nothing! Everything was perfect.

This is a very attractive, small hotel. It feels family-run (not sure if it is) with all the hotel team being polite, professional and efficient. Check-in was speedy and we were shown to our room. The room was not big, but plenty of room for 2 people and with a lovely view overlooking the gardens and the river. The little brioche buns welcoming us were very tasty as was the tea & coffee choice with a cute little bottle of milk. We only had breakfast in the restaurant, but it was delicious.

We came by motorbike and gravel is the mortal enemy of bikers. That said, it was a good job we were on the bike as the car park was full and we only managed to squeeze in. Unfortunately, the restaurant menu for dinner is "posh" (for want of a better word). We like nice food but there was nothing we could eat. The nearby pub stopped food service at 5.30pm so we had to venture much further. The hotel provided a good local taxi service and we had a lovely dinner about 10 minutes drive away. Being on the bike meant we didn't want to gear up to find dinner and it took some work to find and organise our eventual dinner plans. It was a mild August night and we opened the windows not realising the heating was on - so we didn't sleep as well as we hoped.

We stayed here to visit Chatsworth and it was very handy for that, about a 10-15 minute drive. Staff couldn't have been more welcoming and the food (we did the tasting menu) was exceptional.

We were upgraded to the Rafters room, which was good looking and spacious. My only slight niggle was that there was a really audible buzz from a fan or something downstairs which went on all the first night (not the second, so it is easily curable) and that disturbed my sleep in an otherwise very quiet and peaceful location.

Very friendly staff and excellent location. Food was very good.

The hotel lets guest bring their dogs with them. Not a problem but I would suggest they have a block at the hotel where the rooms are for people with dogs and a separtate part of the hotel without. We were woke up in the night by the dog in the room next barking, not good. Its the reason why I wouldnt come back to the hotel, if they cahnge their policy and layout in the hotel then may be I'd change my mind.

Very convenient location for our visit to Chatsworth. The hotel is extremely clean and comfortable and the staff are exceptionally polite, attentive and efficient. The food is truly delightful and a pleasure to experience. Everything was delicious and cooked to perfection.

We had no complaints about any aspect.

A lovely welcome from the receptionist and no trouble attitude of the really friendly staff really made the stay. The evening meal and breakfast were exceptionally well done. Thank you.

There is only thing and this is meant to be constructive so that it can be remedied - the bath water pressure meant the overhead shower was a dribble so that getting clean via no hand held shower attachment did'nt work. This is hopefully a quick fix.

The breakfast was superb. Never had a menu for breakfast before. Plenty of choice, all well prepared and served. Spot on. The staff were very good, very helpful, friendly and curious. Location was was idyllic within a quaint village setting next to a river and near the famous sheepwash bridge.

Room facilities ie drinks and condiments were lacking, fitting including coat hook on bathroom door was loose, curtains should have closed on cord but didn’t. Some furniture showed signs of wear. We’ve stopped in similar standards of hotels and accommodation for a lot less.
