A really comfortable and well decorated hotel, nothing is ugly or functional, it is homely. We got the last space in the hotel's smallish carpark - others might not be so lucky. Room 205, at the back, was so quiet at night we didn't wake until 8:30, ooops! In the room are Teapigs and filter coffee bags (not instant sachets), Nespresso machine, night spray, solitaire and a deck of cards, big TV not a poky little one! although we never switched it on, and a bedside radio. A modern and well equipped bathroom, retaining the uniquely uneven floors of the building it's in. Generous soaps and towels etc., night light, even a bath duck. The dining room is elegant and not too noisy even when full. There was a fire in the grate in the reception lounge, even at breakfast time.
The hot water was only tepid at 7pm. It was fine later on and in the morning. 2 steps down from our bedroom door to the corridor nearly had us over on 2 occasions!

Hotel reception area was very attractive including coffee shop, lounge, restaurant. Food was excellent in the restaurant. Parking available in courtyard across from the hotel main building.
Room was well appointed but very small, especially for two people.

Very elegant hotel/guest house with a lot of character in the centre of Bakewell. Our room was very comfortable and clean. Staff were very professional and courteous. Restaurant and bar were very nice areas with a great selection of food and drink. The breakfasts were very good, with both cooked options, and continental options, if you wanted something lighter. Location was very well placed for visiting the surrounding area. Bakewell itself was also a lovely town.
Our room was a little small (we found it a bit cramped with all of our stuff) but would have been okay if we had been travelling lighter. The hotel is also in the middle of the town, so earplugs are recommended if you are staying at the front of the hotel (it was a lot quieter at night, than it was during the day).

The hotel was in a great location in the centre of Bakewell and close to all shops, pubs and cafe's, we booked a suite to celebrate our 30th anniversary, the bathroom was lovely and spacious, the bed was very comfortable and there was unlimited high quality tea and coffee supplied to the room. We had an excellent evening meal on our first night, would highly recommend eating in the hotel as breakfast was also delicious. Reception staff were wonderful.
One breakfast waitress was quite aloof and a little condescending, although all other staff were great. The room wasn't cleaned, hoovered and the shower, bath and sink were not cleaned every day (we stayed 3 nights) and the furniture was a little tired looking.

The hotel is really well located and nicely decorated throughout. Staff were very friendly and we really enjoyed the breakfast offering and the bar open later than most other places in the town! A great place to stay in Bakewell.
If I'm being very picky, the car park situation (no guaranteed spaces/first come first serve) is a little stressful as you never know if there'll be a space when you return, but we were fine all but once and the other car park options were clearly explained by the staff. The rooms on the front of the hotel can be a little noisy early in the morning.

We stayed in the Kennedy Suite at the Rutland Arms during our two-day stay in Bakewell. We were able to find a space in their car park - which can apparently be tricky. The staff were really friendly, helpful and very knowledgeable about the area; giving us good walking route information and offering to store our luggage until check-in time. The Kennedy Suite was lovely! It was superbly decorated, very comfortable and clean, had every mod-con required and the best bathroom! The lounge, bar and cafe areas were really inviting and nice to relax in. We'd definitely return to this hotel!

Firstly the location, it's right in the centre of Bakewell and it has a small carpark too. The hotel itself is full of character, beautifully decorated and loads of stuff to look at. The staff were amazing, couldn't have been more helpful. I'm in a wheelchair and they were so kind and helpful especially James, Elize, Lauren and Laura. Our room was in the courtyard opposite the side of the hotel and it worked really well. The room had a full wet room and a separate bath, shower and toilet too.... we asked for the beds to be put together which they did and that worked well. Spacious room. I could also move around the hotel in my wheelchair and there is an accessible toilet just near the bar...
If I'd been here a year ago I wouldn't have got in as it's steps both entrances, they do have a ramp but it was too narrow for my chair, but as I'm able to take a few steps and with help I made it! So, would I say it was fully accessible, no, but this is Bakewell and not a huge city centre somewhere... other than that, there was nothing we didn't like.

Location was excellent, right in the centre of Town. We were given a corner room on top floor with windows facing in two directions offering good views of Bakewell. Nice little touches like the radio playing classical music on entering the room and little chocolate bars and local books. The outside bar area was very good and an excellent sun trap. We managed to park out car in the Hotel car park which was just across the road, but is relatively small and on a first come basis. Very friendly staff. Very clean
The breakfast we had was slow coming out and then mainly overcooked. Other guests were heard saying similar things. No lift, but this is an old building so that could not be helped.

I enjoyed my stay so much that I would go back there in the future. It is a beautiful Hotel decorated to an exceptionally high-class level. The whole Hotel, especially the dining room, is fit for a Lord or Lady; I was very impressed with that. I felt so comfortable that I could have stayed inside all day.
Two things annoyed me: At the time of booking, it was not apparent that my room was located in an annexe building across a busy road rather than the main Hotel building. At the time of booking, it was stated that there is off-road parking available; it was not said that there are not sufficient parking spaces for all guests; first come, first served! I could not park at the Hotel and had to park ten minutes, on foot, away. Walking this distance through the rain and paying 18 pounds for a public car park, whereby the car park is not secure, is undoubtedly different from what I expected.
