We stayed at The Wheatsheaf during a hiking holiday in the Peak District. It is a charming country pub perfect for visitors who want to go to Chatsworth - you can walk directly from the pub in about 30 mins on a safe and quiet country lane to Chatsworth House. The room was very comfortable, the food was great and the staff were really helpful (we accidentally forgot our bag with our wallet etc downstairs during dinner and they kept it safe for us until the morning.) They also kindly kept hold of our bags after we checked out for a couple of hours while we went to visit Chatsworth. Price was very reasonable and would definitely recommend!

Our room was quite close to the road but the traffic noise didn't bother us at all personally

Location, stayed before, free parking rooms looking fresher after there update from when we’ve stayed before. decent sized mugs in the bedrooms for a brew- got a big thumbs up. evening meals we had both days were really nice staff always helpful service good at meal times no issue with noise from the roads that’s been mentioned before of others- double glazing is an improvement and definitely helped. as long as people realise it’s main route , there will be traffic.

nothing that would stop us staying again; however WiFi could be a bit hit/miss pillows kept slipping down under headboard- bed could do with moving closer to wall or put something there(we did try move mattress but couldn’t) breakfast was good but having stayed before felt felt it was lacking this time. quality not quite as good. although I do know everyone is cutting back at the moment.

Lovely big comfortable room. Individual heating in room so we were able to choose how warm we wanted to be. Staff were lovely. Food was good pub food. Location was great as we were going to Chatsworth House and we were able to walk there from the pub . It was very icy and cold but the car park was gritted and salted every night.

Nothing not to like really. Only criticism would be that it was a little bit cold in the conservatory where we ate the first night.

Lovely pub and restaurant, a nice welcome from the staff. Continously great service during my short stay. Hotel breakfast was a nice variety of continental and lovely hot options plus healthy options. I dined there for two nights. The food was delicious and presented professionally. Service was very good indeed. Lovely cocktails and wine list too. Staff were a great asset to the management. A big car park at side and rear is handy too. My double bed en-suite room was lovely, stylish, spotlessly clean and overlooked the garden. I have a slipped disc and the bed was perfect for me 🙂 Located in beautiful Baslow, so very near to Chatsworth House, Bakewell, Eyam and Matlock. I thoroughly recommend this lovely pub/restaurant/Hotel, beautiful countryside and one of my favourite counties. ♥️

There was plenty of choices at breakfast.Staff very attentive and offered to make extra tea or coffee.

The room is quite noisy because of traffic thundering by day and throughout the night .I don't think anymore could be done to alleviate the problem as there was secondary glazing installed. If you are a light sleeper this room is not for you. The bathroom could do with a towel rail and chair to put clothing on . On saying this the room was spacious and clean with a very large comfortable bed.

The room had been freshly decorated, with new carpets so had a luxury feel to it. Vey nice. Breakfast was very good, with waitress service and freshly cooked food to the individuals specification.

The room was great except that all the mirrors were either at arms distance or in a darkened area - which is not good for applying make-up or getting contact lenses in. There was no hook for the hand towel in the bathroom. Waitress service for the evening meal we had was poor. In the end I got up and went to the bar.

Room was good

Had hoped it would have more of a traditional pub/inn feel but was like a restaurant which spoilt the ambiance. No place to just sit and have a beer or glass of wine casually, had to book a table for a meal. I feel this spoils character of English pubs. Good to do food but should still have a traditional bar area.

Excellent choice of menu for both evening meal and breakfast. As we were attending a performance at the Chatsworth theatre, it was important that we were served promptly and the service was timely and just what we wanted. Big car park so ease of parking. Generous hospitality tray in bedroom.

Would have preferred a heavier weight duvet, or spare blanket to go on top. Would have liked instructions on increasing the heating in bedroom.

The new refurbished room, which are always spotless. .The food and being able to sit in the lovely beer garden to eat was an added bonus. The Staff are great and Shane and Debbie are lovely hosts. The location for visiting Chatsworth Estate is ideal. Just across the road and through the Kissing Gate and you're in a different world, so peaceful. We love our stays at the Wheatsheaf and hoping for many more to come. A wonderful place to stay.

Cannot think of anything negative to say.

Breakfast very good and well priced. Evening meal also very good however a tad more expensive. room very clean and nice with no road noise or distractions. Staff really good making you feel at home and seemed to actually care about your experience and comfort.

N/A nothing of note- Window latch to keep bedroom window open was relatively stuck.
