The wonderful welcome everyone got as they walked into the pub - Vicky is an outstanding landlady; she work’s incredibly hard and always maintains a smile. The food was delicious especially the scrumptious Sunday lunch, even without me peas 😂- everything is reasonably priced. Our room was spotless- it provided us with everything we needed. The pub is ideally placed for travelling around. Even some of the locals were friendly - something you simply don’t find in some areas.
Some reviews complain about the road - really ! We live in a rural area - traffic for us is rare but honestly if you fill your day with fun you won’t even notice the traffic- it’s not like sirens go blaring up and down constantly. Our only personal grip was the hardness of the bed in room 5. That is purely personal preference- I’m sure when we return, if we ask, Vicky would do her best to find us something a little bit softer

Lovely cosy pub with real log fire, room was nicely decorated, very clean and nicely set out with 2 armchairs and all you needed, good tea and coffee making facilities. We ate at the pub both nights and it was nice homecooked food, it always came out very quickly and was piping hot, breakfast was the same. The hosts were very nice and friendly. The village of Hartington a 5 minute drive away is so lovely, very picturesque as is the whole of Derbyshire.
Mattresses could have done with replacing, one was OK but one really dipped in the middle. Don't want to be negative as this was such a nice place and understand given the hard economic climate that this is an expense. Maybe 2 memory foam toppers would be a good interim idea.

We recently stayed over a weekend at the Jug & Glass having chosen it based on other reviews. Not only did our stay live up to our expectations , it really exceeded them! This is a cosy, traditional country pub with a warm welcome from the owners & staff. Our room was clean, modern & cosy with a great view over the surrounding countryside. The pub itself is a great place to relax with a drink or two & the owners are really friendly. The food menu is varied & we really enjoyed our evening meals. After the first night we quickly realised that we wouldn’t need to look elsewhere to eat for our second night! Table service was excellent & nothing seemed to be too much trouble for Kayla who looked after us. Breakfast was very nice too, with everything freshly prepared. So, all in all an excellent experience & a real gem. Our thanks to Vicky, Daryll, Kayla & the kitchen staff. We will definitely visit again in the future!
Absolutely nothing al all.

Excellent position with amazing views. A warm welcome from the proprietors and a very pleasant couple of pints of ale in the gardens enjoying the views. The room was very comfortable and clean. Dinner and breakfast were both served in the bar, which was nicely decorated and had a good atmosphere. The food was excellent and plentiful with reasonable prices ensuring good value for money.
Nothing to dislike.

Breakfast was really good. We also had two evening meals which were excellent. Rooms cosy and we'll equipped. On a main road but adequate parking.
Although book says to ask for more tea, coffee etc the staff seemed reluctant when asked. I actually bought my own to save having to ask again.

The location was very nice, far enough away from the busy villages, but very easy to get to places. Breakfast was excellent.
We were informed that there was no housekeeping in the rooms because of a shortage of staff, we had to empty our own bins and ask for milk, tea, etc...Also I have always known B&B to supply shampoo, shower gel each day, but no not here which didn't seem right, so that was disappointing also.

From the moment we parked the car outside to the moment we got in to leave 4 days later, everything was perfect! The staff/owners were brilliant, so welcoming and friendly, made us feel like home from home! The location is perfect for both visiting villages around (all in short driving distance) and set off on walking trips and running for exercise. At first we were a little annoyed with the room being on the ground floor and the parking being in front but I kid you not we did not hear a whisper and had great sleep every night! Drinks after a long day of walking/sightseeing are a must and you will definitely feel and be treated like a regular there! The room was great size, the bed was comfy, the bathroom was clean and although there was no servicing (due to C) we were not short of anything and felt like at home (said now twice which must mean it is true!). Words cannot describe how amazing our Platinum Jubilee long weekend was there and I cannot wait for the next excuse to go back!
Hard to pick on anything we did not like, but if I had to it would be the pillows which I found to be a bit flat and hard, but that is such a personal preference really so I could not flaw the place!

This really is a little gem that is ran like a well oiled machine. The hosts are tiptop & very friendly. The room was lovely with a massive bed and had the added bonus of a bath….always good after a big climb or lengthy walk. The breakfast experience is possibly the best we’ve experienced through a booking made on Booking.com, so efficient and a good quality English breakfast. Our evening meals were delicious and good value for money. Yes it’s on a main road but didn’t bother us at all as we never really noticed it and our home is similarly placed. We will definitely return as visit the peaks a few times of year and this place is in an ideal location for everywhere we like to visit.
I have to say there really isn’t anything we didn’t like

This is a lovely down to earth pub with a convivial atmosphere. The rooms, in a modern annexe, are basic but very comfortable whilst the food is excellent home cooked with a well thought out menu. The hosts were friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

The welcome each day, the friendly atmosphere in the bar. The beef pie 🥧. The location was perfect for our walking. The ample freshly cooked breakfast and the beer.
Very happy with the whole experience.
