What a GEM! Over the years we have stayed in many cottages & Airbnbs. This, by far, is the best. Richard, the owner is a super host. His attention to detail is evident from the moment you enter the room. From the layout and the generally relaxing "zen vibe" down to the little details like... glass bottles of water and milk in the fridge (Replaced daily) The breakfast choice is great ( tried my first Stotty. Very nice) The name (Birdsong cottages) is true to form. I sat on the balcony each morning to a cacophony of birdsong. Really sets you up for the day. If you are a coffee lover (Like myself) there is a excellent choice of Nespresso pods on offer, again replenished daily. Where to go, what to do? The room houses a map with circled ideas along with numerous books of places to visit. Or you can just ask Richard, who has a wealth of local knowledge. To sum up. This was our first visit to Birdsong Cottages. It won't be the last :)

Could not find fault

This was described in the visitors book as a little gem and I must agree! The owners were the perfect hosts , welcoming, friendly and helpful . The house is perfectly located 100 yards from the northbound A1 , but there was absolutely no traffic noise ! Breakfast was served to our room , the weather was perfect we ate it on the rear garden patio, the only noise was birdsong ! Idyllic. Lovely shower , an espresso coffee machine in the room and a lovely breakfast .

I would recommend better signage , the sat nav found it , but signage could be better !

It’s a little gem! Firstly so lovely and clean, the bed linen was super soft. Hosts were so helpful with local info. Little extras were very much appreciated, cheese biscuits, chocolate and shortbread bites, along with fresh milk for the tea and coffee. Breakfast was huge! I would definitely recommend. We went to a wedding at the Barn, which is super close.

Couldn’t fault it really.

Fantastic hosts who couldn’t do enough for us. An exceptional room with a high level of cleanliness and all the facilities you could possibly need. An amazing location with both sea views out of one window and lovely countryside views out of the other. A great breakfast which we were able to eat on our private terrace. An all round gem of a place.

Nothing, it was fantastic.

Very comfortable bed. Abundant coffee & tea facilities with biscuits and wee treats. The breakfasts of sausage & bacon stottie with fruit & yoghurt was more than adequate to set you up for the day. Richard was a mine of information about the local area- a really nice guy! Excellent!

The owners are very welcoming and helpful, they thought of everything to make the stay comfortable. The room was delightful with a lovely patio balcony, Nespresso coffee machine, kettle, fridge, some little treats around the room and even some GHD straighteners! Location was great for us, just off the A1 but not at all noisy. We were at a wedding at Charlton Hall which was 2 miles drive away. We drove to the wedding and luckily got a lift back, a taxi is £25 after midnight as they have to come out from Alnwick. We had a nice 1.5 mile walk across fields to pick our car up next day. Breakfast is lush, you must have the bacon stotties! Parking is right next to the property.

Nothing!

We loved our stay; a truly great b&b. Very clean and comfortable, with all the amenities. We loved the little extras: fresh pieces of traybake every day, milk in the fridge, map with sights circled. Everything clean and spotless. A great breakfast of our choice, brought to the room at the time of our liking. And best of all a very friendly host, with lots of advice. We sincerely hope we can be back. Soonish! :-)

Location was to our liking, but a little bit noisy with open windows (nothing our earplugs didn't fix) and restaurants are a (short) drive away

We’ve just returned from a wonderfully relaxing 2 night stay at Birdsong Cottage. We stayed in The Haven, a spacious room on the first floor, which had its own private balcony (a fabulous sun trap), a lovely en suite wet room, a view of the sea from the front window and a very comfy bed! We loved all of the little extras in the room - a mini fridge in which fresh milk was topped up daily, a Nespresso machine with a selection of pods, a variety of tea bags and a couple of additional treats! Thank you to our very friendly hosts, Richard and Sandra.

Richard was fantastic nothing was too much trouble. The room was spotless. Are more than we'll equipped. Tea and coffee Making facilities and the little touches made our stay excellent. Perfect location if you want to explore Northumberland. Will definitely stay again.

The only thing we didn't like was the patio chairs not very comfortable if you wanted to sit out on an evening and enjoy the beautiful weather and very pretty gardens
