The hotel was quite good, staff were friendly and as i visit Devon for 2/3 days every 2 weeks I thought this would be my new base.

I booked again 3 weeks later and spoke to a fairly aggressive lady who insisted on a deposit. Not a problem. I arrived on the said date and a very nice young lady told me they had not heard of me and did not have a booking for me . The aggressive lady was called who was most unhelpful , and more or less said go away we are full. I asked for a refund of my deposit and was told to provide a copy of my bank statement or credit card to prove I had paid. I said check your card receipts but she refused. Three weeks later I finally received a refund. Not recommended.

Very good location, comfortable, clean. My dog was welcomed, parking onsite and I enjoyed my stay. Having read previous reviews, I do wonder what planet some people are from....this is a 16th Century coaching inn, with a lovely atmosphere and wonderfully quirky. There are plenty of budget chain hotels available for those who prefer that sort of thing. If I need accommodation in this area in the future, I wouldn't hesitate to return.

To be honest, there wasn't anything I didn't like.

Nothing to dislike - if you like staying in older historic places rather than modern places then this place is ideal - shower was on small side and not very powerful but water was hot so nothing to complain about

The place is lovely and clean old country style pub. We turned up quite late and the staff were lovely and welcoming. The room was very clean and the beds were really clean snd smelt lovely. Haven't a bad word to say about the place. The breakfast in the morning was fabulous full English with tea /coffee and orange juice, we had our son with us and he was impressed aswell. Would highly recommend.

Nothing, we were very happy staying here.

Location was great. Room was comfortable. In spite of the inn being extremely short staffed we were well taken care of. Food was excellent. We stayed 3 nights and would stay there again.

Food service was slow because of short staffing but it was worth the wait.

The land lady is lovely so friendly and goes the extra mile ,nothing is too much trouble, we stayed there about 7 years ago and always knew we would return. Our room was super cosy and warm , the meals are absolutely amazing all freshly cooked ,breakfast was absolutely lovely sausages are delicious. There is a gym and a hot tub too .

A longer stay

We booked last minute and we were so pleased we did. We couldn't have hoped for a better stay. We were greeted by a lovely lady and made to feel welcome. The room was amazing and such great value for money. The food was all home cooked and was absolutely lovely. We sat in the bar and chatted. All the staff were exceptionally helpful and very friendly. We will define be back. Thank you for a lovely stay.

Friendly & efficient staff, ice cold cider on tap (essential after 8 hours of walking in 30+ degree heat on the coastal path), clean en-suite rooms & comfortable beds. I can't comment on the food as I didn't order any.

For some the roaring traffic of the A39 might be an issue especially when HGV's accelerate up the hill a few meters from your bedroom window. Creaking floorboards outside my room.

Everything. Will definitely be staying again. The food was lovely the lady doing all the work was very polite and always smiling.

That they were understaffed. A poor lady was doing all the work. :(

easy to find traditional coach house the beds were very comfortable the food was lovely with good menu the lady running the in was lovely and worked very hard to get us fed and watered 🍺🍺 the place is biker friendly with ample parking would definitely stay again 😃😃👍👍
