All of the staff at the Mill House are extremely friendly and accommodating. They couldn't have done enough to assist me during my stay. From the lady who checked me in who offered to help me carry my luggage as she showed me to my room. The lovely restaurant staff that no matter how busy they were in the restaurant they always took time have a conversation with me & made me feel like a valued customer. To the lady who called me after I checked out to say she had moved some bookings around & was able to accommodate me for the full week after. Such service from the entire team at The Mill House. Thank you for looking after me during my stay.

Unfortunately the shower in my room took some explaining to operate. Once it was running it was perfect, but it was just getting it to start was a problem. However on chatting with management, I understand that room is due for refurbishment soon & the old shower will be replaced with a new one

I loved absolutely everything about the propert. It’s character, it’s warmth, simple but perfect. The staff are absolutely amazing, very friendly, helpful and available. Food on point in every way!

If I where to search for a negative it would be no teaspoons with the tea making facility and no information sheet in the room as promised. Having said that my flight got cancelled and re-book by easyJet. The staff replied immediately to my email, allowed my cousin to check in for me and collect my keys so I could get in out of hours. So I wasn’t there to remind them for the information sheet and my cousin told me all I needed to know :-)

Extremely friendly and helpful staff (all female!). Warm welcome, and clean comfortable room, varied menus and plenty choice. Reasonable prices too. The young ladies who served in the bar and dining room were very chatty and nothing was too much trouble for them. Same goes for the lady who served the breakfast. After 4 nights, we still didn’t manage to get any of their names, they didn’t offer and we didn’t ask!!

Only negative comment - and it is a small one - the shower was over the bath, which was a bit high for us. We are in our 70s, and, although we managed to get into the bath with a little time and care, there was no safety mat or grab rail. Our friends, in the next door room, had a beautiful, shower cubicle, but again, no safety mat or grab rail. There were also no tumblers or glasses in the bathroom. Otherwise, we have no complaints

Great breakfast with a good choice. The girls serving were lovely and so helpful. Our evening meal was also good, just what we needed. We were able to store bikes and carrier which was useful. We had just been on a cycling weekend but didn't want to use them during our stay. The location was ideal as we were at Refuel festival at Gordon Castle. We also headed up to Spey Bay for a paddle!

The only thing to comment on is the bathroom, a few things needing attention. The light over the mirror didn't work, the toilet foll holder broken, no shelf to put things on. All minor but a wee bit annoying.

Excellent breakfast. Relaxing accommodation/friendly staff with plenty of casual sitting space both inside and out. Staff member, Laura, very kindly found a safe location to store our e-bikes overnight. Excellent location and roadside aspect, though the speed and recklessness of the adjacent A98 drivers seems to get worse. Despite this, crossing the road to the Spey Bay area offers miles of quiet almost traffic free cycling/walking countryside. It is also situated close enough to cycle into Fochabers (Christies excellent Garden Centre) and Buckie, though this town continues to languish in the 1950s with its facilities most of which close at 5pm! Plenty of parking although some nights the hotel frontage area can be very busy. Had a leisurely evening meal on one night and, as stated on a previous review, the menu could do with broadening to accommodate more mediterranean style food and, perhaps, smaller options (bar meals?). Our two night booking represented good value and has a better atmosphere under the present owners. We'll be back!

The property continues to need refurbishment particularly to some of the rooms. We understand the huge costs involved in such work and perhaps this is reflected in the value of the accommodation. The window aspect from the rear facing rooms would benefit from extensive tree and bush/undergrowth management to give a better view, across the fields, from these bedrooms. Also, a simple quick fix would be to replace the door closers on the rear facing rooms (Tynet Suite, etc) with new closers to stop the resistance to close the door followed by a very abrupt door slamming action. Not all residents can be bothered waiting to stop this happening and disturbing other residents.

Lovely big room with plenty of space and the bathtub was exceptional and the bed was so comfy. Staff were incredible and the hotel has been very well equipped for it and loads of original and modern adaptations. Plenty of parking too. Food was great in the evening but the morning breakfast was poor for me.

The noise from the tap either in the sink or the bath was so loud it was even louder than when the jacuzzi tub was bubbling. There was several lights not working in the main room and the chairs in the room were broken in the structure. Windows could only be opened from the top and you could hear all the noise from next room and the hall way.

The menu offered enough options that i could choose a different type of meal over the 3 days stay. The food was excellent and a fair price for the quality provided. Good selection of continental and/or full scottish for breakfast.

No WiFi in the room, apparently due to the location. Really good WiFi reception in the bar area; worked from there to send my work data before heading for dinner. Could do with signal boosters in the areas they know are an issue.

The hotel was lovely and clean the staff were exceptionally helpful and friendly. We had a room at the rear of the hotel which was lovely and quiet. We ate in the hotel which I would highly recommend 👌 Breakfast was lovely everything hot and plenty tea and toast! The three girls we dealt with were very friendly and efficient at their various jobs while still having time to stop and chat. Would most definitely stay in this hotel again if I was in the area! Definite 5 star from me!

There was nothing I would have changed

So welcoming by all members of staff . We booked this location due to a family funeral. The funeral directors in Keith liased with the hotel and arrange refreshments after the funeral with them. Bar and restaurant for evening meals. A bit pricey but it's what you expect in a hotel in a rural area no lifts so be mindful if booking it with people with mobility issues which we had a elderly lady with us so she did struggle but the building is old so it is to be expected.

No lift, (but this is not a bad thing) meals and drinks pricey

incredible lady running the show. the same lady checked us in, walked us to our room, served breakfast and checked us out. all while keeping the high spirits and the biggest friendliest smile. truly incredible person!

needs maintenance. little details like a hole in the floor (room 14), cracked light in the bathroom, ceiling paint peeling showing wood, above neighbors running tap dancing class (noisy)… other than that good value for money, no high expectations
