Stuart and Georgina who run Oakside Lodge have put Upper Harbledown just west of Canterbury on our map. This comfortable accommodation just a 30min drive from Greater London, Folkestone or Dover features well equipped rooms with comfortable beds and ensuite bathrooms. A fairy Oak forest around the building keeps the night silent for good sleep. In the morning breakfast is served on a generous wooden terrace. Home made bacon and sausages and fresh eggs guaranteed. There's a high raising tree house for those who prefer to be somewhat closer to the night sky. Young guests will love to explore the property and meet the two pigs on duty called Sausage and Bacon. Nomen est omen. The pigs may change, the names stay the same. Five bright stars.

We had a lovely stay , the owner let us drop of our bags earlier in the day before the check in time , and he gave us a tour of the property. The room was nice and spacious. Lots of options for breakfast in the morning and was very peaceful sitting out the deck. It's also a great location , as it's only a short drive to canterbury and whitstable .

The shower head needs a bit of a clean but aside from that everything was great.

Stuart was an excellent host and made me feel very welcome. The accommodation was very good too with a nice size room, a very comfy bed and a decent bathroom. It was nice to have plenty of parking out front so there are definitely no worries there.

Nothing at all; it might be wise to check Google maps to to make sure you know the best way to go as the route can be a little tricky or unintuitive (i.e. if you need to head south east on the A2 toward Dover you can either go through Canterbury or head back up the A2 and come back on yourself which can be quicker. Again no issue but worth knowing).

We arrived slightly early to be met by Stuart. He was very, very welcoming and didn't mind us being early. We had a choice of rooms. being disabled and being offered a walk in shower was fantastic, The room was clean, bright and very clean, with views onto lots of land. The road was close, but not loud. Stuart explained about the breakfast times and the breakfast room, as well as about the land and animals that we were able to see, AM. breakfast a lovely choice of cereals juice, cooked breakfast - Good bacon, meaty sausage, eggs ( scrambled for me) perfect. beans, tomato mushrooms and toast, plentiful and quality - perfect. Walking round the grounds there is a tree house you can book into. FREE parking. and pretty flat. And a space to sit, while knitting,

Wish we had a longer stay,,,, next time,

The surroundings are beautiful, and the location is peaceful and quiet. There are also a couple of very cute pigs! The bed and pillows were so comfy! Stuart is an excellent host and provided delicious hot breakfast. The room was clean and I appreciated the biscuits in the room every morning with my cup of tea! There is also ample free parking.

There was nothing I didn’t like.

Loved the location. Very quiet and peaceful. Ample safe parking available. Close enough to Canterbury city centre to take up the buzz of what is on offer. The two old spot pigs on the edge of the wood were delightful. Although I didn't get the chance to take a walk the woodland area looked perfect for a walk. The tree house rooms looked tempting as an alternative night away. My room was clean and comfortable with a lovely shower. Even though it was hot the room was deceptively cool. Loved the idea of the honesty bar. Serve yourself and note down what you had taken for payment to the host. Excellent. The host is really attentive with nothing too much trouble to make make your stay a memorable one. We'll done Stuart.

What's not to like? The only thing that was missing from the room on a very hot day was a small fridge, just saying, not a criticism.

Oak side Lodge was a beautiful place to stay situated just outside Canterbury City centre. It felt very family friendly and welcoming. The room felt private but still had plenty of windows for ventilation and a fan. The bathroom was spacious and well laid out, and the owners were kind and excellent cooks.

The tub in our room could use a scrub down. There were some slimy soap residue on the edge of the tub under the pumps we had to wipe with a baby wipe to clean.

The host Stuart was just the perfect host, so welcoming and friendly, he was dealing with a guest who had some issues with his rental card and did not speak English and we could see how helpful and attentive Stuart was, that is dedication to his guests and it's amazing. The location away from the country in a high forest was so peaceful! The room was spacious and the bathroom had a very good size and nice design. I did not have the English breakfast but my husband did and said it was great! We were just passing through to our way to France, getting there late in the evening and leaving very early in the morning so sadly we could not enjoy the facilities and a good conversation with Stuart, but we definitely we will stop by again if we are around once again!! Free parking was great as we were travelling by car.

Everything was perfect, and we left with a very good feeling and really happy! From a hospitality professional, working in housekeeping I can say the room was almost spotless apart from some dusting in some of the corners or wall... :P. This is just a tip, as you can see they do a really good job and they are very dedicated to it. :) Mattress was not for us, it feel to soft but this is just personal opinion, there was nothing wrong with it.

We had a warm welcome from Stuart who was a fab host. We loved the very comfortable bed- just the right firmness on the mattress and very soft, quality sheets. The hot (full English) breakfast was delicious and cooked to order. We had a very clean and spacious room with fluffy towels and decent loo paper(!) We loved visiting the pigs who were excited to see us too and we enjoyed exploring the grounds. The location was quiet and a relaxing breather from town, with great views. We found it easy to get a taxi, walk or bus to and from town. We'd definitely stay again in the future.

The bathroom door wouldn't stay closed when all the windows were open (was remedied by closing the velux in the bathroom) and we found that the water pressure was quite variable depending on who else was using the supply but again this was not really a problem.
