Decent sized room, lots of wardrobe space! Very efficient heating system, warmed up nice and quickly! Shower nice and powerful, decent size bathroom. Staff very friendly and welcoming and super helpful . Superb price for a city centre hotel, good value for money!

Furniture in room a little bit worn and dated but not really an issue. Bathroom light was quite dull, made the bathroom feel quite dingy. Noise from the outside could be heard fairly easily, especially pedestrian crossings however not the worst thing and to be expected with a city centre hotel.

Reception on second floor. Had to take steps to access elevator. Parking a distance away. No water or glasses in room. Poor lighting. Insuficient power points to charge mobile phones. Only one at a time. No bedside chatging facilities

I like the location except for the rough sleepers and it was noisy with music until 2.30am. I came for a wedding at the castle nd so it was an ideal location. Once I found the main shopping area I was really very impressed. I thought the bed was very comfortable and enjoyed the room facilities. I needed to change the iron as it was dirty. The chambermaid responded very quickly and was very pleasant and lovely.

there wasn’t anything I did not like really at least not within the hotel. My dislikes were really external, the rough sleepers and music playing until the early hours.

The location is great. Very easy to reach the places we want to visit just in a walking distance.

There is a big problem on the parking discount of the NCP Westgate Street. Hotel provided a promotion code for parking which make the price of parking for 2 days is around GBP30. However NCP charged me 2 times, both from the machine paid and the automated paid on my NCP app. The cost paid at the app was nearly GBP60. Double paid even more than one night hotel fee. Now I am still asking refund from NCP, but still don't know what the refund will be. Just received the refund from NCP 15 Aug eventually. The staff of NCP were helpful, but still need to go through some formalities for claiming the refund.

The hotel is beautiful and very convenient to everything in the center of the city and the castle. The rooms are very spacious, clean, comfortable. The hotel is very close to the train station, which is also very convenient. The room was quiet. I was actually shocked at how large the room was. The room was cold, but the front desk was able to adjust the settings so that it could be warmer.

My only complaint is that my room did not include breakfast. Having stayed in quite a few hotels throughout England on my stay this was the only one that did not include breakfast in the price.

1. Location - right in the heart of the city centre. (Not for those looking for peace and quiet !) 2. Room was very clean and warm. 3. Staff were polite. 4. Good bathroom - nice shower 5. Comfortable bed. 6. Effectively, the room had triple glazing. 7. Bar area overlooking St Mary Street in the heart of the city. 8. 3 minute walk from Cardiff Central train station.

1. Little to dislike - as stated in the city centre so street noise could be an issue for some. The street is a pedestrian zone in the evening, however, we could faintly hear noise during the early hours. 2. £14 per person for a breakfast sounded expensive so we ate out - lots of options outside at a much cheaper price.

Really happy with our short stay at this hotel. All the staff we met were friendly, courteous, efficient, and professional. The breakfast was great and worth the money. On a side note, we are actually visiting family in Wales as we live in Australia. We stayed the previous weekend in a prestigious spa hotel in Bath, which was much more expensive than the Royal Hotel. The service there was absolutely dreadful (they should come and get some training off the team at the Royal in Cardiff) and so my husband and I were delighted to have a different experience in our home country!

Exceptional location in the centre of Cardiff. The staff were friendly and personable on reception and check in/out was very smooth. Free luggage storage was provided on check-out day which was helpful as our flight was not until mid-afternoon.

Due to the central location, the noisy street below the window could be heard late and night and refuse collection early the next morning. We were on the 7th floor and the glass being collected the next morning woke us up. Probably would choose a quieter location if I were travelling with kids or was not planning on having a few drinks to knock me out!

The room was spacious and had a large TV. There was a large amount of space available in wardrobe and drawers. The beds were comfortable. The bathroom was clean with lovely shower. The room was nice and quiet and the location was perfect. Great amount of choice on the continental breakfast buffet.

The breakfast was quite expensive for £14 per person. If you wanted an omelette this would've been an extra £3. The cooked breakfast options were quite limited as there were only fried eggs available. When looking on the website for recommendations for parking, they recommended parking overnight in the NCP in Westgate street for a reduced overnight rate. The car park was awful. When we were looking for a space we came across 2 young ladies whose windows had been smashed and car had been broken into. Furthermore, we were charged £24 at the NCP for four and a half hours! We decided to park in the St David's multi storey instead.

The grandeur of the hotel has been maintained on the outside while having received a modern and stylish upgrade on the inside. The hotel is ideally located. Right in the highstreet, a stones throw away from Cardiff Castle, restuarants and pubs. Although located in the centre, the nearby car park makes it very accessible and - using the hotel voucher - quite cheap.

The layout of the hotel is somewhat odd. We entered through the front and had to take some stairs to get to the lifts in order to get to reception. We only later found out that there is a way to avoid the stairs using the back-door.
