Lovely big family suite with sofa, large coffee table and wardrobe in main room, plenty of shelving and drawers for clothing etc. and separate bathroom (with bath) and kids' twin room, at a reasonable price. Great selection for continental breakfast, available from 8 until 10am, which suited us. Helpful, friendly staff. Carpark next to lodge. Various shops and supermarkets, train station, heritage centre and playground within walking distance and pleasant walk along the canal.

Unfortunately, there were some tears in the old sofa and the bedroom curtain kept falling off the end of the rail.

The food in the restaurant was excellent. The room was comfy, and the bathroom was well equipped and pleasant. The staff were great as well

The accommodation is in a separate building from the restaurant. It was very cold when we stayed, so it would have been nice not to have to get fully layered up to go and eat, but it's a trivial thing. The room was a little dated, and could have been in a 70s hotel, but was still very comfortable. If decor is the only problem, then that's not really a proper issue! Also, the accommodation block is next to a busy road. If you were a very light sleeper then that could be a problem, but we weren't disturbed at all. Everything else was excellent.

Emily gave us a friendly reception when we arrived. we also met a lovely housekeeper on our first morning. Everyone was friendly. The room was spacious, warm and clean. we enjoyed a 2 night stay here I spoke to the owner in the morning of our departure and told him I had read the bad reviews about the lodge I told him I had been worried about staying due to the bad reviews however we had been pleasantly surprised and would return

the carpet throughout is grey in colour and it does show all marks

Perfect central location and a very helpful and knowledgeable team on hand at all times.

Nothing really. Were had a steam train experience and didn't check in until 10pm but that wasn't a problem. We paid and booked breakfast and also had the opportunity to buy a bottle of wine for the room, so it was the perfect end to a perfday. We were upgraded to a family room which was very spacious.

We liked the fact that all of the staff seemed to be friendly and professional in the tasks that they carried out. The breakfasts were of a good quality and cooked to a good standard. The cleaning staff were very good and also very friendly.

I did Not like the fact that the post code that was quoted on their communication was for Edward St. I/we did Not like the fact that we were booked into the lodge and Not the main building and so when we checked in we then had to wheel our suitcase back over the car park to get there, had I/We been pre-warned we would have chose to leave our suitcase in the car until we had checked in.

The bed was comfortable, and the bedding and towels were nice and clean and a good hot shower. The location was ideal for our purpose and although we were on a main road it was very quiet and didn't disturb our sleep.

Although the room was clean, it was dated and tired. The light on the wall was broken and a wire was exposed. And the bath panel was damaged. Breakfast was good but was changed to continental after we had booked and again the area it was served in was tired looking and chairs were stained. I believe it does have new owners though, so hopefully they will rectify this.

The staff members were really lovely and helpful. The hotel is in a fantastic area for sightseeing and going to places like Morecambe and Lancaster very quickly. My friend and I visited the cliff edge within around an hour and a half-round trip (Photo attached). Absolutely gorgeous area.

The room was a little unclean - there was a cashew nut on the floor… Apart from that, all was well!

WiFi was super quick. Room was spacious. Parking the car was easy. The pub had a good food menu and plenty of drink options. Steak&Ale pie was delicious. The staff were super friendly and down to earth.

Noise from the road. But, this was down to local youths and a bus stop, not great if you’re a light sleeper.

Great price and good location from motorway on journey to Scotland. A spacious and clean room and the staff were friendly/welcoming. A good selection of choices were provided in the included continental breakfast. We also ate in the restaurant in the evening and had a very good meal. There was also plenty of parking available.

Mainly the bed which was very soft and springy. When one person moved the other felt it. Investment in better quality mattresses would make a huge difference.
