The hotel had beautiful grounds surrounding the hotel, and each member of staff we encountered were very friendly and professional. The room was clean and had most things you'd need for a stay. We arrived early and left our luggage with reception. On our return, the luggage had already been placed in the room.
Would have loved a fridge in the room. We were visiting a music festival in the nearby park. We asked reception how far the walk would be we advised around 40 mins. Just a suggestion if people ask I'd definitely let them know just after the hotel their is No walkway and it was incredibly dangerous. Advise people to grab a taxi and not to walk.

Plenty of space, staff were great, parking on site no extra charge. I would consider stopping here again.
Close to main road which we knew - easy access but did not expect road works on a Sunday morning but that will only be for a short time. But no dramas all ok. The shower was very weak , although a sign informs you it is not a power but rain style shower, it was pretty useless. Did the job for a night but would not be good enough for me for a long stop over.

The room was fine. The restaurants were very good - with one exception. The staff were excellent - helpful and friendly but, again, with one exception. On the other hand, Shane was exceptionally good and helpful.
One waiter spoiled the overall effect. He wasn’t very helpful at a dinner and brought the wrong breakfast twice because he wouldn’t write the order down.

Friendliness and professionalism of the staff. Nothing was too much trouble and service was always provided with a genuine smile. The hotel bar, lounge and breakfast room are really nicely laid out and the gardens are lovely to wander in to. Super comfy beds and proper bath size fluffy towels. Tasty breakfast with good selection of cooked and continental options, pastries, fruit & cereal.
We had an executive double room which was spacious and had all the basics such as wardrobe, dressing table , TV and a small table and chair. However, the room was a little tired and there was wallpaper coming off the wall in one corner. Decor was rather dated with a lot of brown tones which made the room appear rather dark and a bit gloomy. Good power shower but lever to turn shower on was broken and we struggled to turn on the shower. Bathroom was clean but grouting between the tiles dingy and could do with a facelift. Hotel is situated right by the slipway off A12 so constant traffic noise although we expected this and it didn't affect our sleep.

The Hotel is very conveniently situated for London, being just off the A12, South of Chelmsford. There is no rush to book in or out as checking in is from 3pm and checking out up to 11am. The room and ensuite were spacious, clean and well furnished. Breakfast was buffet style - extensive continental style cold buffet together with a hot buffet. Both were well organised with hot plates for the hot food which was kept topped up. The cold buffet was kept cold and the juice jugs were kept in iced cold water so that everything was fresh. Staff were very helpful in providing and topping up hot drinks.
The shower pressure was not particularly good. We did not eat in the restaurant but prices seemed high.

Everything was lovely. Baby crying in room adjacent til 1 am and awoke us at 6 am on our first night. But second night was beautifully quiet and we slept well. Breakfast was beautifully served. Staff excellent and Night Porters on the Sat night so very helpful.
Sound of Baby crying on first night for a fairly long period towards 1 am and then the next morning.

All the staff members were extremely friendly and welcoming. I must say by far probably one of the best customer services received, even better than other hotels of higher star rating and that says a lot! The room was spacious and it even had a sofa. There was a huge variety of breakfast options and even a full English breakfast (a vegetarian option was available); they even had alternative milk for coffee/teas. The walk through the car park led to a pavilion which had a lovely view of the hills and sunset.
It was clearly labelled that the showers were like a rainfall style, so it wasn't one of the powerful ones. However, it was still good as there was plenty of hot water. The round table in the room was a little dirty with crumbs but it wasn't a huge issue but something we noticed.

Was just so perfect ! Best location with so much nature which was so refreshing , ect really comfortable beds , friendly an warm staff an lovely decor . We had 2 rooms with lovely bathrooms one having a walk in shower an another with a bath and shower . We found best of all was the breakfast which we actually got last minute when paying for the room as it was more discounted than wanting the breakfast on the day and it was so so worth it ! really gorgeous set up and lovely food , we have all been wanting to go again even if the location is far from us in being in Liverpool but it honestly was that good ! Even within the hotel it was like a little village with grass , trees , benches , a well and Lilly pond which was such a nice place to wonder round We went the day before camping at Creamfields and we ended up forgetting what we come for an would of been happy after our one night stay there at just the hotel . Most definitely coming back an already recommended to so many !
Nothing! I wasn’t aware of having to pay £40 deposit for each room although it is fine an is due to be reimbursed

Good situation. I’m sure that they were glad that Booking.com didn’t cancel our visit like they did the previous day to our visit to the Centennial hotel, saying that my card was invalid, causing me to rebook, using the SAME CARD, and having to pay an extra £30 which slightly negates any savings with that company. Have tried to get in touch with Booking.com but they don’t seem to want to know, surprise, surprise. Apologies to Ivy Hill who were excellent, but Booking.com are a load of crap!
Nothing, brilliant

Staff were really friendly and helpful, attentive without being overbearing. Hotel itself clean and well maintained. Rooms spacious and comfortable. Ate at the restaurant and can't fault it, it was fantastic. Not sure if a family run business but seemed to have that feel which was nice.
Rooms whilst clean, really spacious and comfy, they could do with a little maintenance from where previous guests have clearly misused the room, but really didn't spoil the experience, we had a great time. This was the only minor negative we had.
