I had always wanted to stay at the Village Inn, now the Boot. I was not disappointed. It is a beautiful property in a wonderful location. The fresh flowers on each table, the warm welcome from staff, delicious food, comfortable bedroom and luxurious bathroom made every moment a pleasure. The breakfast over at Barnsley House is the greatest treat. Everything was high quality and beautifully cooked including freshly prepared eggs. And stolling in the gardens afterwards was gorgeous. The village is so unspoiled, it is like stepping back in time. The gardens are an inspiration.

I feel mean having any criticisms at all! The entrance to the bedrooms, with a big mat at the bottom of the stairs, needed a good hoover, and the staircase looked a little shabby.

The staff were very welcoming and helpful, what a great team. After we checked in we enjoyed dinner in the pub and had had an amazing Beef Wellington. If this is your favourite, you will not be disappointed. The following day it was a brief walk to the spa hotel for a delightful breakfast in the dining area over looking the gardens. The menu offered a wide selection of breakfast choices, we was spoilt for choice. A lovely place to stay.

Nothing, it was wonderful

The Village Pub is a quaint place to stay in the quiet & beautiful Cotswold village of Barnsley, near Cirencester. As a Village Pub guest, you are able to access it’s sister hotel, Barnsley House Hotel & Spa. While the pub is small & beautifully appointed, the main house is absolutely breathtaking with the most stunning gardens I’ve ever seen & a lovely spa. The Village Pub rooms are beautifully appointed & very clean. The bathroom was a great size with bath & large shower. The waterfall shower was bliss! As the weather was so good, we had dinner outside & both the food quality & service was excellent. We then went over to Barnsley House to walk the stunning gardens & to have a cocktail or 2 outside. It is breathtaking! We also had breakfast al fresco at Barnsley House. The staff are wonderful. we finished our stay in the hydrotherapy pool at the spa. Charlotte couldn’t do enough for us - towels, bathrobes, Prosecco, a mocha, switching the jets on & off. it has been the most exquisite experience. We are already planning a return in September!

Only the temperature in the attic rooms which could get rather warm even in May

Lovely dining pub with very nice, large comfortable bedrooms. Complimentary snacks and drinks including homemade shortbread which was delicious. Very nice soaps/shampoo etc in bathroom and great shower. Breakfast served at the beautiful Barnsley House, which has same ownership, 3-4 mins walk or 1 min drive away was really good and made stay extra special.

Pub is directly on the road so some traffic noise from time to time through the night.

From the moment we arrived, the staff could not do enough to help us. We had to get ready early for a wedding and Henry (Manager I think) found us an early room. Every little attention to detail was shown in our room and the bathroom products were lovely. Breakfast over the road was fabulous, sitting in the gorgeous garden, again with amazing staff. We will be back! Thank you.

Nice location, beautiful old building. Breakfast at the main house was good.

Room was fine but not outstanding. I expected a bit more for the price point. Bathroom needed a refresh and the shower door needs replacing. The room was small but the bed was comfy.
