We have stayed at The KHH 3 times and on each occasion the staff are extremely helpful, the rooms are beautifully made up and the food is excellent. During our most recent stay there was a problem with the heating in our room, despite it being late the Reception team were amazingly helpful and changed our room as well as giving us an upgrade for the inconvenience. We are getting married later this year and will be staying at the hotel as will many of our guests, we are really excited to visit again as it has become a very special hotel to us.

We had an apartment which was really lovely. Nice big space, loved the bedroom and the kitchen/lounge area was nice too. Bathroom again very big and a nice touch having our own robes. The breakfast included is continental and I am gluten free, which was a worry as there wasn’t anything I could have. However when I told the staff I am gluten free, they said I could order anything off the cooked breakfast menu and they’d do it gluten free for me free of charge which I thought was really lovely of them to do so. The location was also great - right in the centre near to pubs and shops etc. All staff were very welcoming and friendly :-)

The apartment was a little dusty in the bedroom (side tables) and the bedsheet had a tea stain on. We found we could hear a lot of banging / people walking around during the night (1am) which woke us up. There is no parking right outside for a long stay, which when you have a lot of luggage it’s a bit of a walk to the car park they recommend.

Overall, the hotel was superb. If you are looking for a mini break in a quintessential English market town, then this is it, and the King's Head is at the very heart of it. Two nights was not quite enough to explore all the shops, and for a trip to Highclere Castle (Downtown Abbey), which is about an hour away. The reception staff were obviously very busy but gave me so much of their time, making sure we had a great break.

Nothing at all was adverse. We picked a front room overlooking the market. Obviously this means you hear the occasional car door close, but the view over the Market Street was worth it. There are plenty of rooms away from the road, if required.

Our room was lovely, we had hoped that there would be a bath which there wasn't but as we hadn't requested one it wasn't a problem, large walk in shower was good. Very comfortable bed, our unexpected bonus was an outside terrace area which was great, we enjoyed using it in the evening and next morning. Surprised that the toiletries provided although good quality were in refillable containers- good fro sustainability but I think for the price individual sizes should be provided.

Cooked breakfast was not included in the price-I think it should be at the price charged. You could pay extra for cooked but it was very expensive. the continental selection offered was very good with a wide variety of choice.

Lovely Hotel great location and staff lovely. We stayed in one of the Apartments, and it was really cosy, great to have the extra space and kitchen facilities, and dogs are really welcome there, so lots of positives, and we would definitely stay again!

Breakfast was a little disappointing but as it was included not really an issue. The continental selection was very good, but the cooked breakfast was disappointing, they make the eggs to order which is great and you have the choice, but all the other food must be precooked and kept warm, so sausage, bacon and black pudding was all rock hard and crispy, so that is my only criticism.

Love the conversion of this coaching inn as it's been done in and appropriate, modern way. This was our second stay so we knew what to expect, but we had a different room which was lovely and overlooked the town. The staff are cooperative and had taken note of requests, they also tried to find us a room with less steps to reach it. Dogs are welcome which is great although you are segregated at breakfast and in the MBB Brasserie.

Next time we need to request a room with less steps because the lift goes to the third floor, but due to the age of the hotel there are many steps are along the corridors. In the MBB brasserie there is only a small area for dogs which could be problematic, also the food leaves a lot to be desired as it is a limited choice.

Very good location, big room and we also had a terrace too. Good decor throughout and friendly staff on reception

Room could have been a little cleaner in places and the odd part was looking worn. Terrace was lovely but plants needed attention and maybe some more pots added as the space lacked greenery. At breakfast I asked for gluten free toast, I had to ask again as the staff member forgot, he assured me he would bring me it…. then after over half an hour we had finished eating and still no toast. I shouldn’t have had to ask for a third time

The apartment was very spacious. I was happy to find there is a washing machine, microwave and dish dryer in the apartment. Shower and toilet were good. Breakfast is different everyday with ample varieties. We had afternoon tea, which was amazing.

Breakfast they charge to have fried eggs. The apartments are very far to walk with a few steps too, not convenient for big luggage. The windows were not sufficiently sound proof and the shops on the streets started to operate at 4am in the morning with loud noises that disturbed our sleep daily.

Our room was large and spacious with excellent air conditioning. The bathroom was also a large size with wet room shower facilities but be careful as the floor became very slippery when wet. The bed was huge and incredibly comfortable as were the pillows

Our breakfast was included in the cost (£342 for two nights) but it transpires that this is only for a continental breakfast, if you want a cooked breakfast this is an additional cost circa £18 per person. We travel the uk often and have never experienced this before where hot food is not included

This is the second time we have stayed at the hotel and it is now our first choice for a date night away without the children. The hotel is fantastic with friendly and helpful staff and lovely facilities (restaurant etc). It is in an amazing location and the rooms are really comfortable and clean. Would definitely recommend.

The only small challenge is car parking. We found a space but had to get up early the next day to renew the car parking ticket. It should be fine if you do some research in advance on options and are happy to park a little further away from the hotel.
