The breakfast at the Rising Sun is great which is expertly prepared and the choice is amazing. The restaurant menu has a wide variety of meals for all tastes and we tried as many as we could! They were all superbly cooked, presented and all tasted fantastic with fantastic locally sourced ingredients. The family room we booked was absolutely brilliant. A large bed, bunk beds for the kids, massive bathroom, a sofa, desk/make up table and a large free space. One of the best features is the view of the water. You can see both ways up the river which is bustling with kayakers, boats, swimmers and wildlife activity. Best of all are the staff. The whole team led by Andy really made our stay the best it could possibly be and went out of their way to be friendly and always gave a professional service with grace and humour. I particularly enjoyed our interactions with Liam and Andy but all the staff were great! Thanks to everybody who made a stay perfect!

The summer is a very busy time for the region and Coltishall is no different. The car par is owned by the council so is shared with the Broads users and a pub close by so it can be a little difficult to park. However, Andy and the team were always on hand to help and it did not cause any problems.

The room we stayed in had obviously been refurbished to a high standard - bed exceptionally comfortable and en suite kitted out with all the toiletries you would need. There was no noise from the pub below and we looked out over the River Bure. We ate in the pub most nights, which was obviously very popular with the locals, and understandable as the food was delicious and very imaginative. The staff were very friendly and did everything to ensure our stay was comfortable.

The only thing you could say against it was the access to the upstairs accommodation which was near to the staff parking area and the ground could have done with being paved as it was uneven underfoot.

The Rising sun is in an absolutely stunning location. We turned up in the sunshine and sat for a quick drink on the busy banking before heading out. Very picturesque. Staff were all very friendly and accommodating also. Room was clean and well equipped, although due to the quaint nature of the property the bathroom has some challenges for those of us 6'0 and taller, but all adds to the fun. Also breakfast was delicious.

Parking is a challenge due to the popular location. We ended up parking up the road and walking down. Not the end of the world but just something to be aware of. Checkout at 10 felt a little early, but we knew this before hand.

Situated on the banks of the Broads, very beautiful particularly early October, the Rising Sun is an excellent place to stay - with comfortable, well kitted out bedrooms and food to die for! The staff were excellent, very helpful and couldn’t do enough for you. The Manager, Andy, a very friendly individual and extremely helpful made our stay there one of the very best we have experienced.

There was nothing not to like

Staff were beyond exceptional, food was also amazing, a lovely place with lovely people making us feel welcome.

The only issue I had was we were above the main front door to the pub which was constantly banging as people came and went, the banging of the door was very annoying. I did mention this to the manager and explained it wasn't a complaint, however if he isn't told he cant address it. His response was in 3.5 years nobody else had mentioned it.

Great food, location and the staff were great - friendly and efficient, nothing was too much trouble. We would have stayed an extra night but unfortunately they were fully booked, but the manager even helped us to book our next stay at the nearby 'sister' pub.

The approach to the rooms from the rear of the pub is very dingy, tired and in need of refurbishment. The bathroom ceiling had loads of cobwebs - some old ones.

Family room is large, with a comfortable bed and sofa. It has its own entrance which is great with the dog. They are truly dog friendly. The room was spotless, the view stunning and the food is of excellent quality, good variety and well priced. The staff are friendly and efficient in a busy pub. We have stayed here before and will do so again.

A few more hangers in the wardrobe but we could have asked and did not. We are not worried by this but obviously there is noise from the garden outside and pub below but all quiet by 10pm and just people having meals and drinks. Not an issue for us at all. Would be quite if you shut the large patio doors but we enjoyed having them open!

Amazing location, lovely room, fantastic food, great service, all staff really friendly. The best cooked breakfast we,ve had at a hotel, absolutely first class. This is our 2nd stay here and I'm positive we will be back.

That we were only staying for 1 night as we were picking up our hire boat for a weeks holiday.

My room was very comfortable. I appreciated the variety of pillows and the mattress topper made for a comfortable night’s sleep during my two day stay. The breakfast was unbelievable both mornings; huge portions and excellent value for money. We also ate the evening we arrived and even though the place was super busy due to its super location by the water, the staff took time to chat and offer recommendations and serve food and drinks promptly. The menu is vast for both food and drinks so there is something for everyone. There are plenty of tables and chairs outside as well as inside.

I really can’t find any fault with the hotel. I only wished I had planned to to stay longer.
