I was intrigued to stay here as previous guests seemed to rate it either 1/5 or 5/5 and wondered why the differing ratings. The double room I had was huge, with a lovely view over the golf course (I also had a nice walk around the the golf course). The bed was very comfortable and there were two armchairs to sit in. The room was well heated with an extra heater if you needed it. I also noticed in the cupboard fans if you need them in the summer. The staff were excellent very helpful and kind. There was always someone on reception and the phone was answered very quickly. When I asked for extra toilet roll and milk for my room they arrived at the rood very quickly with a huge pile of milks and loo rolls. Very different from some stingy places I have stayed in. I didn't eat at the hotel as I was visiting friends so I cannot comment on the food.

As some other comments have indicated the decor is a bit tired and could do with repainting - but the room was not as bad as I was expecting but a long shot. The windows didn't close fully and did let in some draft although the curtains cut that out at night. However some of the curtain hooks were missing and this seems an easy thing for the hotel to sort out so why don't they. But the curtain did close properly so not an issue, but still looks untidy.

Used as a base for a small family gathering for my birthday while we stayed. All staff very accommodating, friendly and helpful - which made my day really enjoyable and all my children and grandchildren had fun too. We drank, ate and chatted and food was ordered from the bar - which included vegan options. I want to thank the staff at the hotel for making my 64th birthday bash a successful and memorable one. We also did the walk around the golf course and went into London, via Coulsdon S. station to see the Monet Expo at Brick Lane - which was also a memorable experience for us both,

Nothing,

The property is stunning, and the staff are welcoming. Rooms are very nice.

The water in the hotel (which I can only assume is down to the size and age of the building) took a very long time to run through to a hot temperature in the shower in the morning. The bath also was just about warm enough once it has been ran. The only other inconvenience was the breakfast, we had planned to come to breakfast at 7am as we needed to check out at 7.30am for our day. However the staff had advised us that the chef was late and breakfast was not ready, so we were unable to have breakfast before checking out.

This is a return visit- stayed here last summer. Country house vibe but not too done up. Wrap around 1930's golf course makes it feel like it is in country rather than outer london suburb- room very spacious and serviceable (stayed in extension this time) , restaurant is good, breakfast very good, all staff friendly and efficient- would recommend for a short stay. Regular trains from coulsdon south and caterham to london.

not something that could be remedied in short term but seems a shame that tennis courts( where i used to play as a kid!) are disused and overgrown- would surely be a great facillity for hotel and club if they could be restored?

The position is fabulous. Quiet, easy to find and close to our destinations of Bromley and Crystal Palace. The rooms were large and quiet, the bed was really comfortable and the breakfast was delicious. The staff were very friendly and helpful..we don’t play golf but it looked like a fabulous place for a morning round. The grounds were gorgeous!

The only fault with this accommodation was the really poor food in the restaurant in the evening. We only ate there once! We waited for almost an hour for almost inedible food. There are no other restaurants nearby so we self catered for the rest of our stay.

The quiet peaceful location. Staff were pleasant and helpful. Also the food was very good and well presented but the hotel would benefit from having a separate small restaurant rather than just bar type facilities.

We were not happy with the location of our room as the view was most uninteresting considering the beautiful location of the hotel. When we asked for an upgrade we were told there were no other rooms available as the hotel was full. However it did not appear to be full to us as everywhere was very quiet and we did not have to reserve a table for the evening meal. I am not sure we were given an accurate explanation as to why we could not have a different room. We were disappointed because we were celebrating our wedding anniversary.

Good value for money - particularly the breakfast. The rooms were comfortable and the staff were friendly. The rooms were clean and the surroundings pleasant. A good place for our family to gather for Christmas.

The hotel is in need of updating. For example, the lock on one of the rooms failed, meaning we had to move and the bathroom needed renovation - the flush was temperamental and water from the shower made the floor wet.

Staff were lovely. Evening meals were delicious. A good menu that was well cooked and presented. Beds in bedrooms were very comfortable.

Rooms are tired and need some attention. Also, very thin walls so you can hear noise from other rooms. I am sure I didn’t pay the cheapest rate for the room, but we were surprised at the ‘basic look’ - our room didn’t have bed covers or mugs for tea/coffee, just very small cups and no saucers. - Materially, I think adding these two additions to all rooms wouldn’t make a difference but would make the rooms look more inviting.

Setting, outside area, bar area. Room clean, beds very comfy lovely linen and towels. Would stay again as useful for family visit, but prefer another room.

Sadly looks in great need of refurbishment. Some areas looked better than others. Overlooking golf buggies from our window, but also uncovered bbqs and rubbish inside gated wall. Room walls seemed thin as could hear conversation going on next door and when the chap coughed in the bathroom could hear that through the ventilator very clearly 🤦🏼‍♀️

From start to finish. Lovely Sharon at the reception gave us a lovely welcome. She excelled the most important first impression. Amazing spacious room with lovely view(room 211). Amazing food at the bar area. We had a lovely walk around the golf course. Absolutely great relax after very stressful day. Thank you all!

The only downside was unfortunately important breakfast. Poor quality of food. Not much of a variety to choose from. Poor quality of coffee and no water. Such a shame.
