We stayed here for just one night to break our journey home after travelling from France. We were delighted with how lovely everything was, our room had absolutely everything you could wish for including a bath and separate shower, seating, coffee and tea making facilities and a wonderfully comfortable bed. We enjoyed an excellent dinner with wine followed by a lovely breakfast the next morning. The staff were very friendly and helpful. We enjoyed a stroll around the lanes nearby and a very interesting visit to the local church and graveyard. I would highly recommend staying here.

Nothing, everything was excellent

The location and all the food was superb. The car park was also a big plus as many locations have little access by car.

Our room was very comfortable and extremely clean. Its just that its recent makeover left me puzzled. They installed a double sink facility with wood table in the middle of a very nice bed room which was very out of place. The adjoining bathroom had a writing desk and chair, a high sided tub with a shower (that was difficult to step into, and a toilet. I would have placed the desk and chair in the bedroom and changed the bathroom to a walk in shower and toilet. Just a different vision!

We chose the Marquis because of its proximity to our son’s wedding venue. The staff were extremely helpful and accommodating. The restaurant for evening dinner offered a good range and everyone said how delicious the food was. My son (the groom) also had his dog with him and the staff were more than pleased to welcome her, in fact her photo is likely to appear on their website. On the morning of the wedding the ladies had to leave before breakfast and so we were given very nice packed breakfast- a bonus indeed. Guests for the wedding took over all 10 rooms over 3 nights, we would thoroughly recommend the Marquis.

Only one little niggle the toilet in our suite had no light switch, it located in the adjoining bathroom so tricky to locate in the dark as the switch was behind a curtain.

Nice rooms - ours was compact and a little quirky - our double bathroom sink/vanity unit was in bedroom and doubled up as the tea/coffee station, but it worked - ish! Comfy bed, although ours was a little high - I may have needed a step if it was any higher! I'm average height. Great breakfast Good location, nice walks nearby if you have time

Lots of cushions - usual problem with where to put them when not on the bed. Bathroom walls could have done with freshening up. The schnitzel was extremely greasy - even taking into consideration the butter sauce description - perhaps just a bad day in kitchen. Restaurant food was a little on the pricey side We chose not to check in online - I prefer interaction with a person. That said, we stood for quite a while waiting to be greeted (just a holding "hello, I'll be with you in a minute" would have done) - the gent was stood right in front of us sorting out a booking/some sort of calculation.

The staff were extremely welcoming and helpful. The food was absolutely exceptional and worth the stay alone. The bed was very comfy and the place was quiet. The room was tastefully decorated if a bit small.

I thought the room was a bit small for the price. I needed to do some work and couldn’t find a place to set up a laptop. The washbasins in the bedroom were a bit quirky but I found it a bit impractical. The decor is original and interesting though so it felt a bit different. Overall I was very pleased with my stay and will definitely stay again.

I cannot fault the property in any way. The staff were all so helpful. The room was beautiful and so clean. The on site parking was plentiful and free. We were travelling the next day on the Eurotunnel and the location was perfect. We ate in the restaurant in the evening and the food was amazingly good. Breakfast the next morning was superb. We are going back to the Eurotunnel next week and cancelled the hotel booking we had so we could stay here again!

There is nothing to not like!

It’s a very nice gastro style pub with rooms. Tastefully decorated and dog friendly. There are some nice doggy walks in close proximity. The food is good and the staff are pleasant. Handy for Le Shuttle.

We have stayed a couple of times before but this time instead of booking direct we went via Booking.Com. The room we were allocated was a bit smaller than we have had before and that would have been ok for one night had it not been for the mattress on the bed. Because the room ( Hopton) is small, customers must sit on the side of the bed facing the door. My husband complained that there was no support on this side and he felt he was rolling off the bed!!

Stayed here many times and the pub, hotel never fails to provide a wonderful base for a short stay. Rooms are magnificent and location lovely. Food is superb and staff so friendly and helpful. Already booked our next stay.

Basically, all exceptionally good but a very minor thing in our room… Ac unit control a little bit noisy. Kept bleeping through night. A very minor irritant in an otherwise beautiful room.

Spent one night in the hotel, the pub downstairs serves very good quality food, better than the average pub, breakfast was extensive, and again a very good quality. The room was comfortable, it was a bit warm but the air conditioning is very effective, outside there was a gentle hum from the air-conditioning unit of the kitchen. Cleanliness was good, although we did notice the toilet was not clean where the water comes out.

It's a 200 year old building, so expect to hear creaky floorboards from other rooms, and these start quite early as people go for the channel tunnel.

Location was good for visit to dover. Very welcoming and cosy. Plenty of parking available. Towels lovely soft and fluffy. Breakfast was good.

Room was a bit busy too much furniture. There was no light switch in toilet you have to light the whole room which is a problem if 1 person gets up in the night. Road traffic can be noisy. Tried closing windows but aircon was also very noisy
