We went for the larger room, the bed was massive and very comfy, The view from our first floor widow was great right over the railway station, I sat at the window as my wife read Burns poetry, very nice indeed. p.s the breakfast was fantastic.

The hotel could do with a make over, however the location and the grandeur of the building made up for this many times over, If you like a travel lodge type hotel don't stay here, if you want a hotel with charm and character this it the place for you.

Lovely spacious room, ours was dual aspect as it was at the end of the property. Lovely period building with many original features. Huuuuuge comfy bed! Lovely fluffy towels. Staff were very pleasant, especially the breakfast servers. Free parking and free wifi.

Very small shower cubicle in an awkward shaped ensuite, which obviously creates a few difficult to reach places to clean as there were a few mucky nooks and crannies.

Breakfast was very good. We were very disappointed that there were no evening meals served. However, the staff were excellent and we were allowed to have a take away meal and they supplied the plates, cutlery etc.. The customer service from the staff were very good and they made us feel very welcomed.

There was not anything about my stay that I disliked

My room was spotless, with clean, crisp bedding. It had everything to hand that I needed- and my bathroom was first class, new sanitaryware and a huge shower. Food was good, staff in the bistro were lovely and friendly. Parking at the front door.

Like many places, the hotel is suffering from staff shortages. That meant sitting surrounded by dirty tables eating breakfast. The staff’s focus was - rightly - on serving the customer but no one was in charge or watching for this kind of thing. But that’s my only negative comment.

The location made it easy to find and convenient for entering and leaving the town while touring the surrounding country. The bar was spacious and comfortable, with an outdoor terrace which was excellent given the weather. Staff were friendly and helpful. The service and quality of food in the restaurant was excellent.

Because the same staff were looking after the reception and the bar one sometimes had to wait a while at the bar, or go and find someone to serve.

ROOM WAS VERY NICE,COMFORTABLE BED,TEA AND COFFEE IN ROOM,STAFF SET UP ROOM FOR A TWIN ROOM,WE ASKED IF BEDS COULD BE MADE INTO DOUBLE,LADY CAME STRAIGHT AWAY AND RECTIFIED THIS,NICE TABLE AND COMFY CHAIRS TO RELAX IN

NOT ENOUGH MILK LEFT FOR US TO ENJOY A CUP OF COFFEEIN THE EVENING AND THEN NO MILK FOR MORNING COFFEE,BAR AREA WAS NICE BUT SOME OF THE SEATS WERE A BIT FADED AND WORN AND COULD DO WITH REPLACING,PERSON ON FRONT DESK ALSO SREVING IN BAR IN THE EVENING SO HIT AND MISS WITH SERVICE

The building, the room, the restaurant, the breakfast, the location, the staff - all was really lovely. The food was also superb! We would definitely recommend this hotel and hope to come back ourselves sometime. We stayed during Storm Arwen and were safe and sound and managed to sleep very well too.

We couldn't fault the hotel, it was marvelous. The Lounge bar is very comfortable and we received a very happy welcome. Top service! Highly rated.

Kitchen was closed so we didn't have any meals. Staff were really friendly and helpful. Room was very nice and the bed was exceptionally comfortable. Very clean and well maintained hotel.

Room was very hot and we couldn't open the windows. A small fan was available for use but this was so noisy we could only put in on for a short time. We did ask the Receptionist about the window and she kindly opened it for us. It was still incredibly hot and sleep was a difficult to come by. The hot water in the bathroom sink was boiling and you couldn't touch it. There was no health and safety warning about this and I wonder if the hot water pipes run under the floor of the room then maybe this added to the temperature of the water. Not sure about this though. Probably most of the year round too hot a room would not be a problem.

Lots of character . Convenient parking on site. Helpful staff. Tasty dinner and breakfast . Useful facilities in bedroom - hair drier, ironing board. Good WiFi signal and free to use. Comfortable bed. Quiet location even overlooking the station.

The ironing board leg was bent which I told staff as I was leaving. Wash basin cracked- presumably waiting to be replaced. Wall sockets are so low to the floor I couldn’t use some of them. Lettuce in salad at dinner was brown, croissant at breakfast was uncooked and cold.

the room was a big size clean and comfortable with T making facilities ,the staff were really helpful,we didn't eat at this hotel so couldn't comment on the food

everything was fine apart from a really big puddle in front of the hotel steps,I got my shoes and socks wet wading through the rain water trying to get to reception ,a girl who was staying at the hotel said she came in the back way (Lovers Walk) to avoid getting wet feet
