All staff were friendly, efficient and incredibly helpful during our stay. Nothing was any trouble at all. We got married at nearby Gretna and decided to spend a few days before and after at Hetland Hall and I'm so glad we made this choice! The hotel is absolutely beautiful and the surroundings are quiet and peaceful. We dined there as well as having breakfast and the food was absolutely delicious. Eggs benedict cooked to perfection! Reception, bar, restaurant and housekeeping staff were all so cheery, welcoming and helpful. We appreciated the complimentary bottle of fizz with our meal after our wedding ceremony, we had chosen to have a very intimate and understated wedding day, but staff at Hetland made it special for us. Thank you all! Special thanks to Cheryl who kindly took us to Annan railway station when we struggled to get a taxi when we decided to have a day in Carlisle while we were there too, it was so good of her to take us at the end of her breakfast shift.

Really nothing to complain about at all, but just as a personal choice, I prefer hand wash in bathroom in hotel room rather than a bar of soap, even though they are obviously wrapped and discarded after each guest leaves.

Superb hotel, beautifully appointed, wuth stunning grounds and wonderful staff.. The bedroom and facilities were wonderful, and way way more luxurious than I expected for the 85 pounds I paid.. I would have paid 3 times the amount... Great beer in the garden, watching the sun go down. It's a beautiful building yet tastefully done in a modern look.. the bath and shower were fantastic. I can't fault this hotel.. exquisite, I wish I could have stayed longer. Plenty of parking, in stunning grounds, and the staff were so welcoming and professional. The breakfast included was of a 5 star standard.. the eggs benedict were divine. I will return to this hotel.

It was perfect, wish I could have stayed to explore more. There was absolutely nothing I could fault.

The man at the reception was very welcoming. The staff is general was kind. The room was clean. The breakfast was allright. Plenty of space on the parking. Beautiful area around the hotel. Location is good too. Nice bathtube.

The check-in was from 3pm. I arrived after that time and my room wasn't ready when I arrived. I had to wait 40 minutes before the room was ready. I was super tired cause I was coming from port of Hull (England) with my motorcycle. Wich was a really long drive! Of course, I've been patient and didn't complain about it. But I just wanted to say it. Surely the man at the reception didn't know cause he gave me the key of my room... Also, I couldn't get to sleep well, the music was on very loud until after 1am (surely a party at the hotel) Should be quiet after 10pm. But still... not cool.

Beautiful and clean ,very nice area ,well kept gardens, the meal we had in the restaurant was exceptional.compliments to the chef.the 2 guys in the bar very good and professional. The lady who checked us in very nice and smiley ,not like the one on Sunday morning

The room we had was above the bar .everytime someone went through the door to the outside seating area it was slammed shut really loud.very annoying and disappointing, especially the price we paid for the suite .the lady on reception ,when we checked out ,no smile no ,did you have a nice stay etc nothing !,not good and felt like ,we have your money now ,so you don't matter. Unprofessional.

My room was large and really stylishly decorated. The bathroom was super clean and shining. The staff were professional, helpful and friendly.

There were three steps at the front entrance to the hotel. I felt I could easily fall as I tried to safely get into the hotel. I am 80 years old and am finding steps difficult. It would have helped greatly if there were railings at the side of the steps there and from the patio into the bar area. There was a side door that was on the flat, but it was often closed as it created a draft in reception.

From the moment I arrived I felt pampered. The staff are friendly, obliging and professional. Special mention to the receptionists, who were all lovely. I loved my room 204, spotlessly clean, (thank you housekeeping) with the gorgeous bathroom and elegant Art Deco decor- my favourite era! My husband couldn't make the visit due to business. I had a lovely couple of nights, a delicious dinner and a very filling and delicious afternoon tea, both very tasty. Breakfasts are cooked to order which is lovely, and there's plenty of choice if you don't want a traditional cooked breakfast, the Eggs Benedict are just divine! Dining room staff are very efficient and always make you feel welcome. I'll be back very soon. Just to balance the observation of the Button Mushroom Stroganoff, the smoked chicken and Venison Caesar salad starter was divine, I'd happily have it as a main course. The ice creams were good quality and many flavours to choose from. Delicious.

The Button Mushroom stroganoff, whilst being tasty was not exciting- sorry! It would be nice to add, shiitake, oyster and chestnut mushrooms to the mix to liven it up. Just a nice variety of textures would have been nice, that said, the sauce was delicious. It's not a complaint, simply an observation! I don't have vegan options very often, so I wanted my taste buds tickling.

Hard to fault this place both in terms of value for money and quality. The room was extremely large, very comfortable bed. high quality fitments fabulous bathroom. I’ve stayed in a lot of places and this rate very highly. The house is lovely. Unfortunate the weather wasn’t good so didn’t have the time to appreciate the location as much as I would’ve liked. Breakfast was excellent with the best tea I’ve ever tasted in a hotel. You are talking to somebody who has stayed in a Darjeeling tea plantation.

The beats of the music from the bar that filtered into my room at night. I am an early riser! Also hate music in bars especially pop. The guest who sat in the restaurant on his laptop sending messages that beeped loudly every few minutes. Some of the lighting is not my taste - coloured LEDs are a bit naff.

A handsome hotel and we had a spacious room, also handsome, with long heavy curtains, looking onto the forecourt. We'd had a long drive from Northern Ireland via the Larne ferry and were warmly welcomed by helpful staff. Dinner was excellent: salmon en croute and a great Solway Coast fish pie. Slept well in a very comfortable bed but didn't have breakfast as we wanted to set off promptly on the next leg of a long journey home to Devon via our son in Derbyshire. The location was perfect for us, just off the A75 en route to the M6.

Nothing we would have changed, except the weather!

Lovely building that had been tastefully rennovatede and enlarged. nice grounds with lovely floral borders and pots. Good food and spacious room and bathroom with pleanty of spce to put things. It was easy to find by road and conveniently located for our journey sothwards.

Some external parts of the building were in need of minor non-routine maintenance. Our room was located on the ground floor and we had to pass the open entrance to the kitchens and other service facilities. This distracted slightly from our stay. A lot of effort has gone into the interior of the building, especially the resteurant, but I fouond it a llittle overpowering and slightly unsympathertic to the nature of the building itself.

Hetland Hall is located close to Dumfries a little way off the main road. It is a lovely building in a lovely setting - there is a huge garden and a short walk uphill offers spectacular views of the Solway Firth and - on a clear day - the Lake District. Staff are helpful and friendly. We had a pleasant meal in the restaurant and again a pleasant breakfast. Our room, towards the rear of the building, was quiet. The room was spacious and clean, and the bed was very comfortable. There is both a bath and a shower - always nice to have both.

The decor was a bit 'shiny' and glitzy - that's just personal taste. decor condition was excellent.
