I've stayed there quite a few times and I'll keep coming back; says it all really. All the staff from the receptionist to the bar staff, waiting staff and night porter could not have been more polite or helpful without being intrusive. All were smartly dressed, particularly the waiting staff who, as a team ( as opposed to those working on their own )looked exceptionally smart and professional. The food never disappoints but I must highlight one item on the menu ; the steak pie ! Not only was it deliciously succulent but it contained a great amount of the one ingredient that other restaurants only include in small portions and that is steak ; lots of it. Delicious.

Nothing to dislike..I cannot elaborate on that.

Excellent location and staff. Hotel has a warm, family feel about it. Bedroom and public areas were spotlessly clean; beds comfortable. Breakfast was delicious full Scottishbwith vegetation option plus option of eggs Benedict. Location can’t be beat; it’s a one minute walk to be in the midst of High Street. Would definitely book here again.

Only negative is that in 50-60 degree F. weather, the room was horribly hot. The staff brought us a couple fans but the heat never abated. Windows could only be opened a few inches. Don’t let this deter you. We should have changed rooms. This is a great choice otherwise.

An excellent location for exploring the city on foot. The food on offer in the various eating locations was plain but adequate. The staff were friendly and helpful.

There was no lift so heaving a heavy suitcase up several sets of stairs from the car park entrance was something of a trial but not a deal breaker for us (though maybe for the less mobile). Rather oddly, the place was festooned with DO NOT notices! They fringed the entire bar and there was one next to our restaurant table (do not close the blinds). At breakfast there was another one - do not adjust the toaster. Even in our room there was a stern notice telling us not to use the toilet except …. Just in case we infringed any of the rules we were told fines would be issued!!! All very odd.

I've made several visits and the standards in all departments are always high. Difficult to highlight any one but the staff have always been smart, professional and attentive without being intrusive. The rooms are always clean and well presented. The food is of a high standard and, yet again, I must mention the steak pie which knocks spots off any I've ever had in other hotels/restaurants.

Nothing to dislike ; I can't really elaborate on that.

THE WELCOME WAS FRIENDLY . MY ROOM WASN'T QUITE READY . I WENT FOR A DRINK IN THE BAR. MY ROOM WAS WHAT I NEED FOR THE 1 NIGHT. VERY CLEAN AND COMFORTABLE AS ALWAYS . MY BREAKFAST WAS EXCELLENT . THE STAFF WERE VERY PROFESSIONAL AND POLITE.

I WOULD HAVE LIKED TO STAY LONGER . THE MIRROR IN THE TOILET WAS A LITTLE TOO HIGH .

The central location of The City Hotel is fantastic, within easy walking distance of the main attractions. The food was delicious. I slept better than I do at home! Access to an outside deck was great (I'm a smoker). The staff were so friendly and hard-working, and being family-run, the support and camaraderie amongst them was great to see. In my opinion, it was this team spirit that helped to create such a positive atmosphere for guests.

All Brilliant except the TV didn't work very well at all and was unwatchable & the Bathroom mirror was sited for a very tall person (we could only see the top of our heads). These issues were not a problem for us and I alerted reception to them on our departure, I hope they address this. Otherwise brilliant room, breakfast and staff attitude were brilliant.

Location was excellent, walking distant to all the historic attractions. 5 minute walk to Dunfermline Abbey, Andrew Carnegie Birthplace, as well as the Library and park, the bus station. Full Scottish breakfast included. The staff was wonderful. Great price

No lift, bed was hard, room small. But for the price you pay it is the perfect. It is over 300 years old and charming

We thought the room was very clean, good tea and coffee making facilities and comfy beds.

The room was very clean however perhaps the carpet is ready for a change! The only thing that we didn’t like was that the bread at breakfast was left by the side of the toaster in bags, plenty of different hands had been in to get the bread out which put us off from having any toast! I would suggest a bread basket with some tongues, limited contact with everyone else! I would also suggest fruit that had been cut up so you spoon it in ti a bowl, I witnessed one guest pick up all the apples and grapes and then return them without taking any to eat! Not very hygienic!

This is a great hotel to stay at while using Dunfermline as a base. The room was good and had what I needed. It was clean and modern looking. It looked well cared for. There was a Fife travel guide in the room which I found useful but I'm sure if I'd asked the staff would have been happy to make suggestions. The location is great with the ruined Abbey just a few minutes away as well as the beautiful Pittencrief park. Also all the city centre things you need are close by. It's not far by car to reach the motorways to travel out to visit other places. The breakfasts they do are great as they can cook you up something fresh as well as having all the cereals, juices, yoghurts and toast etc available as self serve. Wi-Fi in the hotel is included in the price as is the breakfast. This makes it great value and a great place to stay. Overall I would stay there again.

I did find the bed a bit uncomfortable and the saniflo systems they use meant I could hear a lot of pipes gurgling when I was trying to sleep. After the first night I got used to it and it didn't bother me again. Due to the central location, I was located at the front of the hotel and that means there can be noise from the street. Luckily that only happened one night I stayed. Car parking is not free. There are about 3 free spaces which you can get on a first come, first serve basis otherwise you use the car park behind the hotel. The price is extremely reasonable at £3.80 per day and free between 6pm and 8am but because RingGo wasn't working for me, I had to keep getting change for the car park which got tedious.
