This is an excellent little hotel literally a 5 minute walk to the train station which we took and had a very pleasant journey into Edinburgh for the fringe/tattoo. We always do our homework when looking for properties to stay as we travel by motorbike and like to know there will be secure parking which there is here, we were able to park right outside our hotel room and it was safe all weekend. The room was very clean and comfortable and we highly recommend the breakfast which we had both mornings of our stay, absolutely superb, the host is very conscientious and nothing is too much trouble

Absolutely perfect for our needs - a stopover on the way down south. An unexpected gem - lovely clean room, modern and a little oasis down a little track off a busy road. Parking right outside. A walk to a couple of pubs or a short drive to a retail park. Great value at the price. Will definitely stay again!

Also drove past a few times. It is literally down what appears to be a country track directly opposite the car dealership so trust the Sat nav! The sign is hard to see and the road is hidden and unexpected in the urban environment.

Warm greeting. Immediately shown to my room after a long morning of travel. Room perfectly adequate for my needs as a single traveller. Only negative was that I had not packed bathroom basic toiletries, shower gel/shampoo and the small travel sized bottle of shower gel was not enough for my 2 day stay so I used the hand soap from the sink Bed super comfy. Room nice and warm yet with good ventilation if required. Breakfast recommended - hot, tasty, not greasy and nothing was too much trouble. Will stay again

It was winter and cold outside so the flora and fauna externally was lacking. I think the online photographs were taken in the Spring/Summer.

Lovely driveway down to the house and interesting public rooms. Bedrooms a bit Spartan in their minimalism. Freshly decorated. Loved staying in a room with steep green hillside outside window, but also stayed in another room that had a nice enough view out front until a car parked right in front of window. Not a problem with the blinds shut, though! Breakfast was good. Tea and coffee in rooms. Location was fine and more peaceful than in the centre of town, but a bit far for walking if you wanted a selection of restaurants and pubs. Plenty buses into town. Also on a bus route to Halbeath Park and Ride and neighbouring villages and beside a railway station. Auld Mill Hotel's own pub is friendly when busy enough to open. Drinks available by asking at reception until 10-ish otherwise.

Very friendly and helpful host. The hotel is situated in a very tranquil and green spot so you don’t hear the busy road although this is quite nearby. Therefore Dunfermline and Edinburgh are in easy reach. The rooms are spacious and well maintained and equipped. Beds are very comfy with very good pillows. Seldom have we stayed in a room which was só clean and I díd do the “white glove test”! A framed photo or painting would brighten up the room but now I’m being picky. We can therefore fully ánd gladly recommend this hotel.

Efficiency, cost , cleanliness , friendly owner . Really impressed . Was there for quick overnight as attending concert.which was a .6 or 7 min drive away . Room was warm , everything you require Breakfast was very good . Corridors are a little tired but hey so are we all ! This guy is doing an amazing service to the local economy. He is an Independent operator. We should all get behind more Independent businesses like this and support . Would defo stay again .

The hotel is ideally located for visits to Dunfermline (or even Edinburgh) and has a nice large, private, car park. The rooms are clean and warm (vital this years) and the breakfasts are excellent (well worth the extra £10) and the hotel owner is always friendly and helpful.

We were confused by the tap in the bathroom being plumbed the wrong way round so we couldn't get any hot water the first day. The driveway could do with some TLC!

The staff were very friendly and helpful. The room, though small, was very comfortable with an excellent bed, good supply of USB charging points and very good sound-proofing. The home-cooked breakfast was truly excellent.

The kettle in the room was too large for the sink and the supply of coffee & tea a bit meagre (no decaffeinated coffee at all). There were no 3-pin plug sockets within reach of the bed. Parts of the hotel (particularly the driveway) are in need of some TLC.

Breakfast was great! Good quality ingredients, freshly prepared, good portion size. The room was clean and comfortable with all the expected facilities in good order. Ample private parking, very quiet off-road location. Wonderful city to visit, so much history to explore.

This is a very minor point, rather than a 'dislike'. The decor was a little tired but it's a very old building and the proprietor does everything himself so it's full time concern and then some.

Quiet, good location for where we needed to be. Rooms were obviously refurbished recently. Very clean and nicely appointed. Brent and his team all very friendly and helpful. We paid the extra for breakfast on our second morning which was good value and freshly cooked. USB points built into bedside lights which was a nice idea and helpful addition. Hairdryers on request. Tea/ coffee in room and extra available on request.

The road down to the hotel is a bit rough. Only one key available per room which was a bit tricky as we came back at separate times.
