Loved the location and on arrival I was upgraded which made the price I paid seem a little better. My room was really lovely will hopefully be booking this one again. There was a good choice for breakfast although the vegetarian sausages weren't very nice but that is probably down to individual taste. Overall would recommend this hotel to other people.

The only thing I didn't like was the price. I know it was the beginning of July and prices are higher during this time but over a thousand pounds for five nights including breakfast seem to be a little excessive.

I stayed in a standard double room for four nights. Room was very comfortable, very warm and you can control the temperature as you want. In addition, room and bathroom are spacious. Breakfast was amazing and has a variety of choices, a very delicious Scottish breakfast. Hotel was built in the 17th century and resembles a castle. Furthermore, there is a bus stop just next to the hotel if you want to go up to the centre. Reception staff were very friendly and kind. And finally, they have a very cute cat, called MAGNIS and stays in the reception most of the time. I highly recommend this hotel.

I loved the hotel as soon as I drove into the carpark. It is a beautiful building, in a majestic location. Every one of the staff members I talked to was very pleasant and helpful. My room was lovely, and the bed extremely comfortable. I had dinner and breakfast there each of my two days stay, and all the meals were lovely. I also had scones with clotted cream one afternoon, and the scones were perfect. The whole place just made me feel very at home and welcome, and I thoroughly enjoyed the magnificence of the building. There was just something about the whole atmosphere and the friendliness and helpfulness of the staff that made me feel personally looked after e.g. when the man taking orders for dinner on the second night remembered what I'd had to drink the previous day, even though the hotel was full, and there were plenty of other guests. I would certainly like to stay here again.

It was really nice stay in this hotel. Thought it is not so close to center, still really would suggest to stay here. By foot it is an hour, but you can take the buss and the stop is right at the hotel. And actually surrounding is really great. There is a beautiful path nearby that bring you to the hill - really beautiful for evening walks. And you can see all the city form above. The hotel itself was really comfortable. It was clean and comfortable. And the staff was nice. So this was really great choice for the first trip to Edinburgh. :)

Actually only one thing - the sound isolation. Not between the rooms, but to the hallway - there could be heard every door opened and closed.

After our first B+B this location was pure luxury. The room was large, had an ensuite bathroom ( not like our previous b+b), was very clean with 2 comfy single beds.Dinner was also great , good waiting, good food, also for a nice price- but when one is on holidays, one can afford to pay bit more for good food and service.Location was great , in the hills above the main town, a bit out of the way- with a car parking spot right outside the front door. Highly recommendable.

Not much, i didnt see a lift- for disabled guests, and our water from the bar in the room did not work- not serious becuase we had a bathroom- with everything functioning properly.

I was surprised how good the food was at dinner, it was an offer menu two courses for £22.50, three for £25 so I was not expecting it to be anything but basic. I was pleasantly surprised. The caesar salad was full or flavour with anchovies not out of a jar. The steak for the main course had a great chargrilled flavour and cooked to perfection. Breakfast was buffet style which was very good no complaints.

The wine was way overpriced, they had put a 200% mark up on the price of Errazuriz. It's not necessary to charge so much £38 a bottle is just silly for a standard bottle of wine that is average at best.

The location and presentation of the hotel was stunning and being able to park at the hotel was also a big plus. All of the staff were very helpful and friendly and lovely little Magnus added to the experience. We had both breakfast and dinner during our stay and it was always well presented and delicious. The hotel is in the perfect spot for bus routes to enable further exploration of Edinburgh.

There was nothing that we didn't like about the hotel. Everything and everyone exceeded our expectations. We are definitely planning to stay there again.

Well placed, a lot of busses at all hours of the day and night taking you to the city, leaving from right next to the hotel. Wonderful location, great view over the city, decently renovated and quiet. Single room had a very comfy bed and was warm. Ample space to store bags and clothes. Nice amenities - instant coffee, tea etc.

No brush to clear the toilet bowl. Wi-Fi was unstable - when I first got to the hotel it was working fine but during the evening it slowed to a crawl to such an extent that web meetings were impossible and YouTube stuttered even at 240p quality. I couldn't find slippers in the room and stepping with bare feet on the bathroom tiles was a bit chilly.

Albeit away from main Edinburgh, only a bus ride away from the main streets. Relaxed vibe at the hotel. Bus stop less than a minute away which was great and they were frequent.

Couldn’t really fault it tbh. Was there for only 1 night but served it’s purpose well. Lovely sleep. Person on reception was really helpful, I’ve probably got their name wrong but it may have been Elle - they were really helpful, knowledgeable and allowed us to use the bag room to store our stuff for the day when we were wondering what to do with them.
