Lovely stay! Owner Jim is super friendly and accommodating; the whole staff are wonderful and helpful. Breakfast is substantial and delicious. And Gabby (the dog) is an expert greeter! (She’s loving and gentle.) The location is great too - easy bus access to get around and surprisingly walkable to most things anyway (if one doesn’t mind walking of course).

The breakfast was really good and the service was excellent. We really enjoyed the Location. If you cross the street, there is a walking path that goes for miles in all directions. It was really nice and peaceful to be able to get where we wanted to go without all the road noise. It would be a nice place to bike if that is something you enjoy. The room was clean and had everything we needed. It was a great value.

The beds/bedding was fine but could be updated. Also note to keep noise down since the rooms are so close to one another and the building is older and less insulated. Neither of these things took away from our stay. I would still recommend this place.

They served a full Scottish breakfast every morning. Great view from the room of Edinburgh Castle. Easy access to public transportation. Very nice staff at the Brig'ODoon Guesthouse. The bed was comfortable.

Room was quite small There was no real place to put your stuff. (No real closet just a small rack to hang up a few clothes. ) We would have liked to have some sort of bureau to place clothes in so we didn't have to drag the suitcase out everytime we wanted socks. Other than this the stay was great.

Lovely people with a gorgeous dog, the room was big for a single person staying and bright. Hosts we're very accommodating to my request for a quieter room (for disability reasons) and the room was quiet (apart for a couple dog barks from time-to-time but that was no bother). Enjoyed the filling breakfast and the breakfaster chef was very sweet.

Nothing Negative :) Wouldn't say theres anything I disliked, just note the ensuite I was a proper wetroom so the bathroom floor gets a bit flooded (floor bathmat was provided though). Also note there isn't a lift, so request a ground floor room if you'd struggle with a suitcase up stairs

The location is excellent. Public transport super close and in abundance. The breakfast staff were very friendly and the breakfast offerings were extensive. If you can get a front room, there is a view to the city.

The beds could do with an upgrade. Very creaky with too much give in the springs. Lots of stairs so beware if you have heavy luggage. Hot water took 5 minutes to come through - would be helpful to know this on check-in. Room was cold - there was an oil heater provided to boost the temperature.

1. The welcome from Jim was great. 2. The willingness to help was great. 3. Food was great. 4 I totally enjoyed watching the playing pitch across from my window. 5. the willingness to service my room even though they wouldn't usually was very very appreciated. 6. I appreciated it being on a bus line stop.

1. Plug ins in the room was so close to the floor that it was almost impossible to plug stuff in. 2. Hot pot was on the floor. 3. odd shower...water all over the bathroom floor. 4. I would have enjoyed having Haggis.

Jim made the checking in & out process a snap…he & his uber friendly dog met me @ the door & explained the rules. The full breakfast was lovely as was the server Melissa. My room, albeit small, was just perfect & SO cozy…having my own full bathroom was awesome 👍🏻👍🏻 Brig ‘O Doon will be my go - to place the next time I’m in Edinburgh ♥️ Thank you for making this lil Canadian gal feel right @ home ☺️

Everything was just PERFECT!!

We were greeted by the gorgeous resident Labradoodle, Gaby (and the host too, Jim). Nice size room, and bathroom with all the basics you need. Staff were so friendly and accommodating, and the cooked breakfast was delicious, and plentiful to keep you going. There is a bus stop to the city literally out the front, although it's a lovely 30 min stroll to the City. We enjoyed our stay very much.

Our bathroom exhaust was quite noisy, and a pedestal/desk fan in the room would have been great for some airflow.

The owner, Jim, was so welcoming, as was his adorable dog. Super cosy single bedroom and wonderful breakfast. I would definitely stay here again. The staff were wonderful too and everything was spotlessly clean. The location is not very close to the city centre, but there are lots of bus stops that can take you anywhere. If you don’t mind walking, this shouldn’t be much of a problem either, as Edinburgh is a small city. WiFi worked perfectly for me.

The shower in the second floor came out a bit cold at first, but once I waited 5 minutes it was perfectly warm.

room was comfy and not cramped (although the bathroom was very efficiently packed in!) with pretty tea cups and a good kettle. staff very friendly and helpful with advice on buses, extra bedding for the rooms, and considerate about steering the dog out of the way if requested. breakfasts were very good: cereal, toast with jam, bacon, tomato, little sausages, eggs of your choice, tea, coffee, and a good selection of herbal/non-caffeinated teas. toiletries were packaged hand soaps and packets of conditioning shampoo that I found better than average (but if you want liquid soap/shower gel best to pack your own). location was great for the botanical gardens (10-15m walk there in the mornings) and for fish and chips at newhaven with a tram ride into the city. We walked into edinburgh most days along the cycle path but there's also a good bus service.

bed was creaky!! and not quite firm/supportive enough for my preferences. ok for our 3 night stay but I'm not sure I could do a week.
