Our stay was very pleasant, we enjoyed the generous breakfast which was a contrast to the offerings advertised by some of the other hotels we shortlisted before our stay. The room facilities were great and the staff very helpful. Thankyou

The location of the hotel was a little too far "out of town" although we can only blame ourselves for not doing our homework before booking. The area of Stockbridge is a busy area so the traffic noise is present. The properties around Gloucester Place are stunning - just make sure the taxi driver knows which Caledonia Hotel you are staying in - there are 3 in Edinburgh!

Nira Caledonia has a bed and breakfast feel while behaving as a full service hotel. It’s on a quiet street and a bit of an uphill walk to where the pubs and shops are but it’s also easy to get a taxi. We had 2 rooms for our family and each one had its own personality and was beautifully decorated. Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent and everyone on the staff was very welcoming and accommodating.

Parking is on the street and the kiosk where you pay wasn’t working so I had some fear of getting a ticket. I would suggest the hotel invest in some parking permits so guests don’t have to worry.

The Georgian architecture, period features and decor. The staff were very friendly and helpful. There was a good choice of well cooked and presented food available for breakfast. The location is quiet but within easy reach of most major attractions. The room was well equipped with a pod coffee machine as well as a kettle, radio iPod player, fridge and safe. Slippers and robes as well as quality toiletries were supplied.

As we were in an attic bedroom there were 64 stairs the last flight being particularly steep. Although it is explained in the hotel's app that there is no lift because of the historic nature of the building this was not obvious when we booked. The bathroom is tastefully decorated with ceramic tiles the same tiles are used on the floor as the walls and they were too slippy. There were only four hangers in the wardrobe which was limiting.

The staff were so nice and helpful. We felt very welcome. The room we stayed in was gorgeous. It was a small room but absolutely stunning. A really nice view over trees. It is a bit further away from the old town, but we really enjoyed the walk into the center through all the beautiful streets.

We booked the hotel, to enjoy a bath as I don't have a bath at home. Unfortunately by the time we wanted to run a bath it seemed the hot water had run out. One night I waited for them to reset the boiler, but even that didn't fill a hot bath and the next evening I tried again but it didn't work. This was a bit disappointing as it really the reason we wanted that room, but for some who doesn't need the bath the hotel is perfect!

Lovely hotel. Gorgeous breakfast. Small room, but what I expected for "wee single". Lovely sized bathroom and shower. Staff were excellent.

The location of my room (6/11) meant it was very noisy inside the hotel at night and morning. I could hear the reception the whole time and there was alot of through traffic. Combine that with a hard mattress (I know that's personal preference) and flat, hard pillows (inexcusable!). I slept pretty badly.

Absolutely stunningl room. Very spacious and decorated beautifully. Nice surprise to have a jacuzzi bath in room. Receptionist was so lovely and really helpful. Everywhere Immaculately clean. 24 hour bar so nice if you got back late and wanted a drink for your room

Location was a bit of a walk to main area (around 20 mins). Due to the nature of the building the windows are not double glazed so some traffic noise from around 6am (saying that it is a quiet area). Didn't bother us but there is no lift in building so be aware if you have mobility problems

Well, it's not for anyone. We were place at the attic, it was fantastic, the way up there, is narrow around the stairs like a secret room. was isolated, was big enough for a family, the view was good, the light was dimmbar, there was a refrigerator, big TV, wi-fi was enough

Bathroom was small, small windows

Location was excellent, quiet residential street very near city centre with a great selection of cafes, restaurants and bars

Breakfast was average, we probably could have gotten a better breakfast somewhere nearby. Accommodation was top class but expensive, I suppose that’s to be expected when Bruce Springsteen is in town

Lovely cosy room.

Room on top floor and and as there is no lift scaling the heights raised ones heart rate. The bathroom (dimmer) light switch did not work properly so we had to leave the light on. The Breakfast a good buffet selection. However there was a 10 minute wait for the waitress to take the hot food order and then after another 10-15 minute wait she brought the porridge and full Scottish at the same time! The problem was compounded when I eventually received the Full Scottish the fried eggs were luke warm. The initial error could have been rectified if a little customer care had kicked in. A bit more training needed. High on street parking charges with a 4 hr daytime limit so beware if you are travelling by car

Great selection of fruit and granola, avocado and eggs. Lots to satisfy meat eaters too. Staff were very happy, smiley, friendly and attentive. Dinner was not bad at all. Main course veg -asparagus, something long, purple and unidentifiable and sweet potato good, not sure about that herb coating on the smoked haddock. Bedroom suite nicely decorated, good coffee.

I have a disability issue that affects my joints so no lift is a bit of an issue for me especially with a suitcase - but the staff helped. A bottle of water in the empty fridge would have been good. Those fancy teas in the bedroom are probably popular but I like a nice strong English brew - which came with breakfast
