-Very great place to stay for a solo traveler as it was very social. The bar downstairs was a nice place to get a drink and relax with live music after a day of sightseeing -Great, central location. A bit of a walk from the train station, but in the old town -Helpful staff. I had an issue with the laundry and they sorted it out for me. -Luggage storage was nice and the lockers were nice and big in the rooms
-Kitchen was closed when I was there -Bathrooms were usually pretty dirty -Light didn't work by my bed, and it was sometimes hard to sleep because I was in the bed right by the door -Bar downstairs and location near clubs made it very loud at night, wear earplugs -It got very hot in the room at night

I absolutely loved having a sink available in the room for convenience, and that towels were included with the private room that I purchased. Also, the staff were lovely and incredibly helpful no matter the issue. The beds were clean and super comfy for a dorm-style bunk, and the location was perfect as we always had the hostel as a midpoint after shows to recuperate!
I did not love that the windows were incredibly difficult to move, and old enough that my friends and I didn't quite feel confident enough to move them at all. The floorboards in the room were a bit warped, and due to the window situation, the room got quite hot, but I'm sure that's more of an issue with the building itself being old than it is with the business.

I stayed in this hostel for 4 nights in my first trip to Edinburgh. I went for a 4 bed room in a female only dorm. As a solo traveller and first time in a hostel, I felt really safe, my room was comfy and clean. They have lockers in the rooms where you can fit a small suitcase and your backpak and you can secure them with your padlock. So your belongings are always safe as long as yiu don't bring big suitcases. The acces to dorm and rooms is with a key card, which gives you security. The beds are acceptable, clean bedsheets, the mattres can be more comfortable, but not a big issue. You have sink in your room, and also you have the shared bathrooms with toilets and showers that were mostly clean. They provide toilet paper, hygiene bags in the toilet and shower gel in the shower. Bring your own towel if you don't want to pay. Bathrooms were not busy at all so we didn't had to queue for toilet or showers, it might be also because I came off season. And there are female male bathrooms and also mixed gender bathrooms, so there are plenty of facilities for everyone. Generally was quiet, there were a few people making noise, coming from party, but this is more about guest education and consideration. Overall, I feel like this hostel is a good value for the price. You can leave your suitcases before and after check in in their lockers at the entrance, you only pay 1£ to be able to lock the locker with a key. I would deffinitely come here again.
Not having a kitchen The shower space was a little bit too small and it made it annoying sometimes. Not enough places to hang stuffs. The windows were difficult to close fully. There was like a small gap always for the cold to come in and in October it was really cold, however we had heating on at night so it wasn't too bad.

Perfect location, and closer to the next all the nice well-known buildings, shops, bars and places to eat and bus/train/transport, if you are also thinking of traveling a little out of town. The people who work there are incredibly nice and helpful. Good food and drinks. Clean beds - very nice and pleasant place. Big enough locker for a carry-on suitcase, perfect size. Many bathrooms, so always available to shower and go to the toilet if your first bathroom is full. If it's your first time or you're afraid of hostels, this is the perfect place to go, nice people who also stay overnight, kind workers and cool events, very safe, easy place and easy good help.
I was very satisfied so not much negative to say, the only thing is to bring sleep in peace plugs and blindfolds if you sleep very lightly or have to have it completely dark. The other people who live there can make a little noise or use their bedside light. Bring a lock for the cupboard in your room or you have the option of buying a codeless one there. This of course has nothing to do with the hostel itself, but only advice.

being able to leave my luggage in the lobby in the locker was great before I checked in and after I checked out! It was fantastic. the staff were great. the room was comfortable and clean. I felt I had enough room and the bed was comfortable. best of all was the location!!
I thought the room was great and the facilities downstairs. However I was not happy with the bathroom near my room. The was so much water on the floor basically all the time and the shower curtain rails were so often broken and thrown to the side. also the heat in the bathroom was unbearable, I thought there was no need for the heating to be on so much especially when showers and the hairdryers were being used. also the showers being the ones were youve to press the bottom constantly was so frustrating and the shower itself was very a very small space

I wanted to thank everyone working in the hostel for hosting me, my mother, and my cousin this weekend. Best hostel I’ve ever visited. I don’t recall the name of the receptionist on Friday evening, but I wanted to thank her because she made us feel welcome from the first minute and surprised us with her positive reaction when we told her that we come from Luxembourg. We are not accustomed to such a warm response regarding our country and hearing that someone wanted to visit, so thanks a lot. You are always welcome in our tiny country.
We booked 3 beds room but we got a 2 beds room. But for a short city trip is alright.

Great location. Just a few minutes walk from all the local attractions. We stayed in a 6-dorm room, which was spacious and comfortable. Plenty of sockets and lighting and individual lockers. Decent breakfast at a reasonable price. Nice and comfortable seating area and tables. Colourful and cosy lounge area. Live music every night we were there. Quiet room. Toilets and showers clean and handy. Decent towels to rent. Plenty of pubs and restaurants just a few steps away.
Even though we were happy with our dorm, it would have been a bit more comfortable to have some simple hooks around the walls or at the end of each bed to hang coats and clothes, or even an extra chair or two. (only one chair for 6 of us but we managed). Shower bathroom heating cold, but plenty of hot water. Also room was a little cold but it wasn't a problem.

Amazing staff, specifically Aaron and Alex, who were very friendly and would give amazing advice on where to go. The facilities themselves were clean and nice and has lots of fun things to do in the hostel itself. The bar was nice and fairly cheap. There was an organised pub crawl which was really fun and amazing value for money. The bars themselves were good and a good price and a nice vibe and a good way to meet other people at the hostel and find places in the local area. The area was perfect as it wasn't too busy or noisy but easy to get to all key locations. Breakfast and WiFi were also good.
The water tasted off.

The location of this hostel is good as it is very accessible to the city centre as it is close by. The bed is very comfortable. there are some good views from the room window. The common room that is used as dining room for breakfast and supper and use the microwave and kettle yourself.
Not much to dislike. When the showers nearby were occupied so i went to the other showers but when i went back to my room i couldnt open the doors maybe i could use my passkey to access it but instead i went through other routes on other stairs to get back to my room.

Superb central location an easy walk from the train station. I came for the Fringe and it was an easy walk to all of the venues. Friendly and helpful staff. Big comfortable room. Bathrooms were clean. The room was very quiet, no significant noise from the street outside despite it being busy at night with bars nearby. The bar/cafe area is really nice to sit and relax in downstairs.
You did get noise from the corridor - you could hear whenever people were coming and going from their rooms late at night and early morning. It's a shame they have got rid of the communal kitchen so there is no option to make food for yourself at the hostel.
