Lovely clean hotel in a great location. Nice helpful staff. Fabulous shower, lovely toiletries and nice big towels. Lovely treat of chocolate tea cakes in rooms. Games available in lobby .
Rooms were bit warm and we couldn't open the windows. Pillows were a bit hard. Vending machine for drinks and snacks would be great in the hotel or mini fridges in rooms or if they were available to rent.

Location was amazing, you step outside and have a myriad of amenities right on the doorstep. We stayed when the fringe and tattoo was on and we got to see some street acts outside our hotel. The tattoo is well worth a trip! It was a short walk to the royal mile, but if you’re a little immobile be aware it is mostly uphill. The hotel staff were friendly and polite and the rooms were beautiful and very clean and with plenty of space. The decoration was very cool too. The whole vibe was very chilled. I didn’t give the comfort of the room 5 stars only because I’m used to my feather pillows..so set in my ways! Even on a busy weekend the noise didn’t disturb us. There was so much to do and places to see I highly recommend this hotel for the location, comfort, service and staff. I will be back :)
Surprisingly nothing to be honest!

When we arrived Paulina the receptionist made us feel so welcome and we had been given a bedroom on the 3rd floor and without us even asking (as we are 74 ) she immediately changed the room to the 1st floor accessible via a lift. Everyone was so so helpful and when we asked for anything they were at our room immediately.Breakfast next door at Biddy Mulligans was delicious with continental and cooked available lots of choices .Our Room was clean with lovely new bathroom with shower.,fresh soft towels and shampoo and body wash also there for us. Tea and coffee facilities in the room with a small fridge which was a bonus. Also Grassmarket hotel close to all amenities and we experienced a very comfortable happy stay..
Nothing to complain about.

The location of the hotel is brilliant, literally in the shadow of the castle and so within easy reach of the Royal Mile, Old Town, Princes Street etc. The staff were very friendly and welcoming. The room (if a little smaller than I expected) was comfortable
I booked a "Small Double Room" thinking it would suffice for myself and my 8yo son. In truth it was a lot smaller than I expected and it would probably suit a single traveller who would rather sleep in a double bed! I stayed 3 nights but oddly the room wasn't cleaned every day of my stay which is unusual. However in all these were very minor negatives in my opinion and it wouldn't put me off staying here again, just maybe book a bigger room!

The location of the hotel was fantastic. We arrived early and a kind receptions stored out luggage until check in. He also gave some great recommendations on where to go. The room was very clean and even though our room was facing the main street we could hear no noise form the outside. Hands down the best night sleep we have had in a hotel ever. My daughter was a bit disappointed tat we didn't get the Dandy room which was on the website but its a great excuse to go back again to hopefully get it this time. The young man that checked us in was very polite and helpful. He was such a friendly person to be greeted by and we really appreciated it. He clearly had great passion for his job and we greatly appreciated his help and enthusiasm.
There was nothing that we did not like about it

Location was absolutely the best. Right next to Edinburgh castle, the royal mile and the national library. As far as staff goes, they were all amazing. Shout out to Jamie who gave us recommendations to places, helped us find a grocery store and made us feel special. Morover, the room was excellent. Beds were really nice, the shower was amazing. We also had a mini fridge which helped us. I will absolutely come back to that hotel.
The only thing that was a bit poor was breakfast. It is a small hotel so breakfast is served in the pub next door. The variaty of food is fairly small, and for Vegans there is almost nothing. You can order something(price is included when booking breakfast) and there are a few vegan options there, but it took them more than forty minutes to bring the food and it wasn't worth it.

Spent my last night in Scotland at the Grassmarket Hotel, located on the corner of this fun sector of Edinburgh - full of pubs, shops, restaurants. I have a back problem and had asked for a room near a lift or first floor. They kindly complied with this request. The staff was very nice, the room was good and I would stay there again.
The shower, designed for acessibiliity and older people, attempts to reduce the possibility of slipping by using a tiny tile floor. Unfortunately, the tiny tiles give the impression, not necessarily true, of dirt in between them. The hotel might want to consider alternative flooring for the shower.

The location was excellent and the staff were very friendly and helpful. The room was clean and quite comfortable. Edinburgh is a lovely city and I really enjoyed my stay.
I had quite high expectations as the price was high (although the whole of Edinburgh did seem to have high prices). The room was quite "cosy" and especially for two people as there was not enough space for pass each other around the bed. The check in took ages, even though I arrived when I said I was coming and an hour after check in time. I am not quite sure what had happened, there had been a problem of some sort. The staff were helpful and apologetic though, so that was not the end of the world.

Incredible location for the Fringe, plus really comfortable bed and great shower! 20% off at the pub next door, plus a really significant discount on parking using their code was great too!
Room was very small and price was huge (which you have to expect for such a great location during the Fringe). Plenty of stairs to get to the room and staff could have been more helpful with carrying bags; similarly it was a 15 minute walk from the car park up plenty of hills. Some kind of shuttle service would make a huge difference...

I loved that it was in the heart of the city and that it had a similar vibe to the city. I didn’t mind that it was small as I was only there for sleep. Staff were all great and worth getting the breakfast as it’s at the pub next door and you can get actual coffee (not the usual Continental machine ones) as well as any food off their warm menu as well as continental buffet.
My room had an issue with the bathroom fan, it didn’t have an off switch so was very loud and I couldn’t sleep. I had to remove the card to switch off all power to get through. I was going to call reception but the phone in the room wasn’t working. Staff were great about it the next day and gave me another room, was great with no noise, however the sink drain had a problem, drained super slow.
