The room was a good size with a window overlooking Edinburgh rooftops. Friendly chat with the cleaner. Location perfect for my needs and not too expensive for a one night stay. Comfortable and clean.

Paid for breakfast but some items had run out and were not topped up or done quickly enough. Arrived at 1am and because it was my 2nd night in the UK, I did not know that I had to turn the heating on for the shower (we don't have this where I live), so ended up having a cold half-shower, which was not ideal after a pretty hectic and long trip to get there. If it had been explained explicitly, or with a sign up in the bathroom itself, it would have been great. I would also love to have had a heads up that I was on the top floor (being so weary and having to deal with my own luggage with self-check-in at 1am). I didn't think to ask the question when booking...

We had a great time at Thistle Hotel, the manager was very friendly and gave us insightful information on getting around the city, suggested places to go and see and we was not disappointed. We have been looking forward to this trip for a while and got to most of the things we wanted to in the two days we visited. Clean and spacious room with amenities you would expect and a comfortable bed. We would definitely use Thistle hotel again as a base, the location was good for us, a very short walk into High Street, lots of bars and restaurants to visit.

There was only one thing that wasn't enjoyable and that was the stairs 😅 we was up on the 4th floor so as someone who isn't back to my fittest after a recent operation this wasn't the best but it wouldn't stop me going back in the future.

Friendly and helpful staff, especially Andrew, allowed us to keep the room keys after checking out so we could leave our luggage. Lovely Grade 1 building in a lovely area of town. Great location. Nice Continental Breakfast. Room was nice and large. Would stay again. 😁😁👍

Nothing really, there is no lift, but it is Grade 1 listed building, so I can't get one fitted. Andrew offered to carry my bags upstairs, but I declined 😏. You would have to be ultra picky to complain.

Good location within 10 minutes walk from Haymarket station and about 5 minutes from the modern art museums and Dean Village by the Water of Leith. Room was good and included unusually a proper wardrobe (and not just a hanging rail in an alcove), a chest of drawers (rather than open shelves) and power ponts in useful locations, although we always pack an extension lead! Breakfast was a simple continental style breakfast, although toast is made on request.

Everything! The room was adorable, and we had a lovely view of the garden behind the building from the window. Everything from the staff to the facilities were wonderful, and the location itself was gorgeous. Not too far from the West End tram stop, which can help connect you most anywhere in the city, so it was both quiet and convenient.

Truthfully, there isn't anything that stands out as something we didn't like. The staff were all friendly and kind, and the room was wonderful.

It’s in a pretty good location central to a lot. Comfortable older style room. Good for people on a budget. Staff are excellent very helpful. Bar down stairs to relax at and Breakfast room.

There is only one park available around the corner down the street and hidden in behind buildings in a very awkward spot. Lots of stairs no lift, which I loved cause of exercise but may be hard for elderly. But staff did offer to carry luggage up to our rooms.

Would have liked an option for full Scottish but always still great

Hotel was fab just our tv did nt work very well, signal was poor ..may need sky or signal boost..more tea and coffee but all was great and Sam and Andrew were exceptional and had great customer service skills ..extremely helpful ..would definitely stay again..location was great if you dont mind walking about 15 mins to station and 20 mins to princes street and castle...wonderful !!

The staff is absolutely friendly and helpful, the room was very clean and comfortable, quiet and overall lovely. Location is quite close to the centre, everything is in walking distance. The neighborhood is charming.

One of the tabs in the bathroom was loose. One evening my travel companion had called it a night quite early so I decided to have a drink at the bar downstairs. I sat there for about 15 minutes and no one came to tend. I went back upstairs.

Comfortable hotel with a homely, friendly feel - much prefer that to modern hotels that all feel the same and are too clinical. Spacious room, beds comfortable, room and bathroom clean, staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Nice location in quiet part of Edinburgh - bus at the end of the road straight through to Ocean Terminal for a visit to the Royal Yacht Britannia. Lovely Wine Bar just around the corner La p'tite folie.

We had a fantastic stay. Lovely, big, clean rooms. Very comfy beds! The staff are friendly and helpful. Was a bonus of having a bar, for a well deserved pint after all the sight seeing. The location was great, nice and quiet with easy walking access to centre. Would definitely stay again.

There was nothing we didn't like... One thing that would take it another level is if there was an option for a cooked breakfast.
