the location is great, near the city center.nearby there is also a bus station if you don’t feel like walking.the staff is amazing, friendly and really helpful.
the female dorm was way too small for 10 people.there was no space and felt really stuffed and unhealthy.the room had its own toilet and bathroom, but sharing one toilet and one bathroom with 9 other women was really difficult to manage.the lockers in the room were tiny and the hostel doesn’t have any extra room provided for luggage storage.also, there isn’t a lift,so if you have heavy luggage like I did,you will have to climb 3 floors carrying them all the way up.

Dear West End Hotel, I am writing to express my utmost satisfaction and gratitude for the exceptional experience I had during my recent stay at West End Hotel in Edinburgh. From the moment I arrived until the day of my departure, I felt truly at home in your establishment. First and foremost, I would like to commend the cozy atmosphere that permeates throughout the hotel. The warm and welcoming ambiance instantly put me at ease, making it feel as though I was stepping into my own personal sanctuary. This unique characteristic truly sets West End Hotel apart from other accommodations in the area. The room provided during my stay was nothing short of excellent. It was spacious, well-appointed, and impeccably clean. The attention to detail was evident in every aspect of the room's design, creating a comfortable and inviting environment that made it easy for me to unwind after a long day of exploring Edinburgh's charming streets. One aspect that particularly stood out to me was the cleanliness and tidiness of the kitchen facilities. As someone who appreciates a well-maintained space for meal preparation, I was delighted to find that your kitchen exceeded my expectations. It was consistently spotless and well-stocked with all necessary utensils and appliances, allowing me to enjoy cooking without any inconvenience. Furthermore, I must commend your bar area for its exceptional service and delightful ambiance. The staff behind the bar were friendly, attentive, and always ready to offer recommendations or engage in pleasant conversation. Whether enjoying a refreshing drink after a day of sightseeing or simply unwinding with fellow guests, the bar provided a perfect setting for relaxation. Lastly, I would like to extend my sincere appreciation towards your staff members who consistently went above and beyond to ensure my stay was memorable.

Very respectful staff, nice place, clean room etc. The best thing about staying here though is the people you will meet. I happened to be roomed with the most kind and interesting people, from a whole multitude of countries. I enjoyed my stay and I enjoyed spending the evening with people from places of the world that I would otherwise probably never have met. Unforgettable experience. Many thanks!

Everything really! Nice, quiet location, lovely entrance, bar/chill area. Nice thick carpeting. I was in a female only dorm with 10 beds (3x3 bunkbeds) and a camp bed type thing. It is a secure keycard entry to the entrance and dorm room, and you can use the small lockers for a returnable £1 deposit. You can choose any available bed. The beds were very clean and the room was very warm. There is a power section allocated to each bunk (a nightlight, 2 USB sockets, and a 3 pin plug socket) the sheets smelled of nice fabric conditioner. The ensuite shared loo and shower were nice and clean too, and there were even large, fluffy towels and a hairdryer supplied. The other females in the dorm were nice and quiet, no issue with noisy people! The little bar/chill area and foyer were very pleasant (see pics)... There is a good variety of drinks available, and there is a tea/coffee machine, which is charged at £1 per cup, which the staff will make for you. You can eat there too, if you choose. There is a large tv on the wall, and an old fashioned fireplace. I cannot comment on the communal kitchen, as I ate out, so didn't visit that. The Spanish guy on reception was very helpful too. The hostel closes at 11pm,so no issue with noisy party people strolling in late! This place was great for a clean, cosy overnight stay, and I would definitely use it again!
I can honestly say there was nothing I had any issue or disappointment with!

Staff very friendly. Was checked in late at night. Nice hot power shower! Very powerful! Room was very warm! Too warm! I turned heating down. Lockers in room. Need £1 coin or trolley coin. Vanity room is very handy for drying hair etc.
Bed wasn't too comfy, it was warm but I kept banging my head. Not much room on lower bunks to maneuver. Pillows were not comfortable. Little room in the en-suite toilet. No lift in the building. Quite a few stairs to the top! Not hostels fault very noisy room. Can't be helped.

Overall nice hostel. It was clean and warm. Bathroom was in the room, it was cleaned every day. Each bed has it's own lamp and charging socket. Third bunk bed ended up to be the most comfortable as you are not affected by people walking downstairs. Location is good, too. Around 20 min walk to city centre, public transport stops nearby.
Wi-fi was very bad, most of the time I couldn't even connect to it. There were only two tables in the kitchen, so it is not suited for many people at once.
