I felt very at home, both the staff and other guests were very nice and the hostel was clean enough for me! Well equipped kitchen and great location too. :) The hostel was probably at its full capacity due to the festival but I didn't even notice it - it was quiet and I never had to queue for the showers or toilets for example.

I didn't mind not having lockers in the room but I would've wished for some shelves by the beds and/or coat racks in the room - now everything had to be stored on the floor or in the beds, which felt a bit unhygienic. Also no warm water from the kitchen tap means that you can't get the dishes properly clean.

The hostel was organised really well, and I felt the facilities were cleaned and taken care of regularly. Even though the dormitory had 21 people in it, the room felt organised in a way that it didn't feel like such a great amount of people. Issues with temperature we didn't have, as the windows in our room ventilated the room amazingly. The garden is quite nice, and a great place to sit with nice weather. Common room is really nice with couches and very lively.

The lockers are on the small side, only a small locker for values (but includes a key that you can use for 1 euro/pound), but imaginable it is tricky in a room with that many people to place bigger lockers. . The kitchen was on the small side, so on the busy hours it was more difficult to prepare your food, but we have not experienced much difficulty per se. The pans could maybe use some upgrading, as some are very scratched up and we didn't enjoy using them necessarily. Sorting waste would have been nice, as they only did one general waste for everything.

So close to the train, tram & bus. Good wifi. Walking distance to supermarkets including Coop & Tesco & many bars, cafes, takeaways etc. Walk or bus to the Royal Mile, including Edinburgh Castle, Holyrood House & Scottish Parliament. Vibe of a school camp / Uni residence: all in close quarters together Very friendly & helpful staff, who will wash & dry your laundry for £8 (did a comparison with other local services: this is a good deal!) 2 fridges (but no freezer), 2 stoves, 2 kettles, 1 microwave in kitchen, free tea & coffee most of the day. Keycard bedrooms. There is luggage storage but no lockers, but they weren’t needed as the community atmosphere seems to act as theft protection (or I was lucky?) Group chat and activities organised (like pub trivia, night out, trip to the beach etc) I came back and stayed twice.

The mattresses & pillows are old & lumpy, but I still slept kind of OK. The bunk beds move when the people do. Your bed does not have a charging socket, they are across the room. There is very little privacy - lean into the community vibe. There are quite a lot of stairs. If you have a big bag to go straight into luggage storage, leave it at the bottom of the stairs to check in (first floor) & be let into luggage storage (ground floor) The kitchen is in high demand: try to cook “off peak”. There is only cold water in the kitchen tap, as far as I & some others, could determine. Microfibre tea towels might work better in the kitchen?

I like coming in after night shift first thing I do is get a coffee ☕😚 have something to eat then bed. As everyone else is going out for the day. Kitchen facilities you can cook a snack or Sunday dinner or send out for Deliverooo😂. Staff are all lovely helpful nothing is too much trouble Shower rooms / toilets are clean perfect hot power showers. Lounge seating areas for chilling or chatting with like minded people if you wish or quiet contemplating of where & what you are doing that night or next Day. Close to Haymarket Train Station. Two minutes away from nearest bus to anywhere in Edinburgh. Or 15mins walk into City centre. Or get an Edinburgh Black Cab ....... Or Uber/Private hire.... Everything is just what you need. Now I've given a great recommendation. I will probably not be able to book my stay for the week 😛 Price for stay at Hostel is appropriate Don't price yourself out of business Busy all the time not just high day's & holiday.s ..... Good value for money. Comfortable safe & secure is what you want & experience. 💪🤣🍾❤️

When I come in off working night shift instead off allowing to book in at 2pm. 1pm would be kinder would allow few hours sleep before leaving for work approx 4pm Start 6pm until 6am. Back here 8-9am?. However the rooms have to be cleaned etc it's same in all Hostels in Edinburgh.

My experience at this accommodation was absolutely positive. From the moment I arrived, I felt safe and comfortable. My bed was perfectly situated near power sockets, making it easy to charge my devices, and I was impressed by the cleanliness—everything was truly spotless. The atmosphere was warm and cosy, and the service was nothing short of phenomenal. The people in my room were friendly and respectful, adding to the overall great experience, and the property itself is spacious and located in a prime area, making it easy to explore the surroundings. This place exceeded all my expectations. The temperature was just right, and the showers and bathrooms were in excellent condition—modern, well-maintained, and sparkling clean. It’s clear that the staff take great pride in ensuring a top-notch experience for their guests. I highly recommend this accommodation to anyone looking for a comfortable and welcoming stay. You won't be disappointed!

Some beds were stained.

Location was excellent, and the property communicated well, and was clean throughout, with the rooms being of a decent size.

The absence of available lockers meant that there were some security concerns and the rooms looked untidy. The hour close of the kitchen in the morning was inconvenient and similarly late evening, it would be better cleaned early afternoon. There were not a lot if electrical sockets close to the beds, but the provision of them elsewhere was adequate.

Everything about the hostel was amazing . Lemme be very honest . If you see my booking status you can see it’s me booking spontaneously every other day . This is how a hostel is meant to be . Absolutely amazing staff with all vibes . Special mention to the Brazilian mate who handles the reception . This would definitely be my recommendation to any traveller to Edinburgh

Nothing much to complain . They try to make you as comfortable as you could . And like every hostel they expect you to stick to the rules which is understandable.

I requested a lower bunk and it was granted! The location is good, especially ease of accessing public transportation to the historic city sites, main bus station and airport. Starbucks across the road was a big plus for me! It was my first hostel experience, and it was positive. The things I found "annoying" are unavoidable when there are multiple strangers sharing a sleeping space and bathroom. The bathrooms were clean! I had no problem with a line for a shower and there was plenty of hot water, but I am an early riser, about 6:00. The 12-bed all-female dorm room was tight on space for luggage, but we all made it work. A bit higher price per bed and 10 beds instead of 12 might be something for management to consider. I did not use the kitchen. Staff did laundry for guests at 8 GBP per load, wash and dry. The staff was very helpful and kind. I will not complain about the stairs because they aren't that awful and the fact that there are stairs is not a secret!

I think it is time to replace the carpet on the stairs and in the hallways. It is an old building, so it is hard to complain about the electrical, but one area with several outlets for charging the electronics for 12 people is challenging. For me the lighting is not sufficient, but that is due to my poor vision. One light fixture on the ceiling is not much, but again, it is an old building and may at some point need a wiring rehab.

I reached there before check in time and they allowed us to keep our bags. The facilities and kitchen was good. Toilets and Bathrooms were also neat. We were a group of 9 members and everyone liked the stay, also it so near to the Haymarket station. So travelling was very easy.

They asked for a security deposit amount which was not mentioned before. They told me it was a refundable amount once we left the property, but we had to call and meet them again to get that amount which felt a little bad for us.

Friendly and welcoming staff and place, as well as very clean property, with provided kitchen facilities and amenities such as free coffee and tea, whilst the hostel is organising different events on the property for the guests, there is also a comfortable garden in the property where you could relax.

Many people in one bedroom, the smallest number of people (if you single traveller as me) in one room is 21 and/or other option is a 6 dorm group booking (therefore, not for me). There are many volunteers in the place, but is sometimes harder (in my view and personal experience) to organise all the people working, volunteering and staying there. The option of volunteering (i.e. clean bedrooms, kitchen and/or toilets) in exchange of receiving only a bed for sleep, in some cases could be a pros but in other cases it is an actual cons. However, the property was good managed , in my view for the period I stayed.
