Really delightful place. Just outside the centre of the city so perfect for sightseeing, especially the Cathedral. Very pleasant, helpful and friendly staff made the stay a pleasure. The rooms are bright, cheery and well furnished. Athough the rooms are over a busy noisy bar/restaurant there no noise in the rooms. There is no breakfast service but any number of cafes are open in town to cater. I would happily stay there again. Car parking on site is limited but just to the rear is a large car park with free long stay parking.

Breakfast was exceptional, despite not getting the sourdough bread on the first attempt....quickly rectified. Room was small but beautifully clean and comfortable, with some lovely touches. Staff very helpful though could do with being allocated specific job roles, there was a little overlap leading to a chaotic feel on registration. Bar and Restuarant lovely, and outside seating area is lovely. Bed super comfy!

No checks that the room had plenty of milk to go with the plentiful supply of tea and coffee. Shower was a little temperamental in room 2. 3/4 size beds in all rooms, except room 1 - thought this would be a problem as we are not small people but bed was so comfortable it was not a porblem!

Location was excellent. 3-4 minute walk to Market Square (going via Waitrose). Also able to park and leave the car in their car park for the duration of our stay. We decided to eat at the High Flyer both evenings and the food was really good. Excellent home made pie! And the staff were lovely and friendly.

When we arrived we were told that breakfast was served from 10am (when we booked it was just for the room). As we wanted to be out and about before then we ate breakfast elsewhere. Not too much of a problem but it would've been good to have the option.

restaurant was clean fresh and food was great. service and staff brilliant, chef came and spoke to us.

entrance door didn’t fit the door frame correctly. could see daylight around it,had to stop draft coming through, door handle came of in my hand, shower door was orange at the bottom. sink gurgling when next room used theirs. (nobasin trap), skirting needs fresh up,

The room was clean and had all the necessary amenities (hair dryer, kettle, tea/coffee, and even an ironing board). The bathroom was clean, spacious, and had a window. The staff in the restaurant/pub downstairs were especially friendly and accommodated our dietary requirements.

The restaurant opens for breakfast only at 10. However, there are plenty of other cafes within walking distance that open earlier.

Clean reasonable well equipped comfortable & quiet room. Quality of food & service in the restaurant for dinner was excellent.

Our double room had no chair(s) to sit on or to lay clothing on overnight. Clothes therefore had to be laid on the floor - so they were not easy for either of us (age 71 & 77) to reach to get dressed in the morning! Queen size double bed was smaller than we'd have liked but acceptable.

Fantastic rooms, very comfortable and clean. There are only 6 rooms which means you get a personal service unlike larger hotels. We had the full English which was amazing, although half the portion would have been more than sufficient. We only say this because we saw a lot of waste and the business could reduce both cost and food waste. The staff were extremely friendly and nothing was too much trouble.

No complaints here! other than our own oversight we didn't see/weren't offered a breakfast menu, and on reflection we could have asked for a menu or maybe a smaller option such as a bacon sandwich..but overall the breakfast tasty and grease free. Excellent job

We loved the location of the The High Flyer. It’s town centre without being affected by road noise. Parking is limited for the establishment itself but there is free parking available just next door. The staff are an absolute credit - friendly and welcoming. We had the carvery on Sunday night and it was easily the best I’ve ever had. Loads of vegetable options and the meat quality was excellent.

No shelving or storage in the bathroom.

Good location for exploring Ely. Surprisingly quiet. Warm and friendly welcome. Lovely warm room, plenty of hot water, comfortable bed and everything we needed was provided. Delicious meal in the evening. Breakfast isn't available until 10am which meant we were able to explore the area and find a very good cafe - Market Kitchen in the Market Place.

Nothing to dislike!

Made to feel really welcome. Very nice room with enormous TV. Big shower room. Very comfy bed and lovely duvet. We had a meal there too and that was great. Recommend the salmon and the carvery. The waiting staff really made the whole experience. Will definitely visit again. Thank you.

Difficult to find anything at all to NOT like. There was a bit of dust here and there, but that's a bad as it gets. The High Flyer and owners/staff did us proud.
