The staff was lovely, the location is beautiful, the building looks fantastic and feels homely and cosy. It was immaculately clean. We were upgraded to a lovely room with a bath, for free. There is a coffee machine in the room, and a selection of teas and coffees. The breakfast was really nice too, despite having limited buffet options. The menu was varied and the food was really good. We would definitely strongly recommend it.
There was quite a lot of light in the morning, in the room, despite having closed the blinds. The signalling inside the hotel looks a bit dated and cheap. It would be an easy fix and it would look glorious. The food in the restaurant (for dinner) was okay, we did not find it brilliant, and we found a bit weird that the food was served with white gloves.

Fantastic tastefully renovated period building, great views towards Ely, well maintained impressive grounds, large bedroom nicely furnished. Overall luxury feel to the whole property. Good food well presented both breakfast and diner.
Although very impressive bedroom suite, the TV was not very big so could not see it very clearly with-out moving the chairs closer, the blinds are not wide enough to cover the windows and breakfast finishes promptly at 9am, I appreciate as explained they need to prepare for Sunday lunch, but other hotels are able to offer later weekend breakfast that also offer Sunday lunch. We are not people who are late up, but felt not fully relaxed to make sure we are comfortably with-in the time allocated, shame as it is a lovely hotel.

Room with balcony view Decor of room, colour scheme and quality of bedding Gardens and flowers superb Welcome and friendliness of staff, everyone said hello and were curious about your stay, plans, visit even those just walking into start their working day.
(I am a tea drinker and so…) Whilst I could have requested a kettle for the room, as the sign explained, it would have been helpful if the situation of requesting one was explained when I was shown to the room. (I would have done it at that point). Also a USB charging socket was missed.

Virtually everything. Beautiful house, beautifully restored and maintained. Great lunch, fantastic views, possibly the most comfortable hotel bed that I've ever used. Staff actually seemed happy to be working there and the level of service reflected that. And it's not often that you see actual hallmarks on the cutlery!
Being really picky here, but a couple of pre-lunch cocktail glasses hung around on the lunch table for a long time, and the red wine glassware was rather thick and heavy given the quality of the wine. Ladies arriving in expensive shoes should be dropped off at the door rather than attempting the walk from the car park which is not as well finished as the rest of the property.

The room was immaculate and well designed, the bed was really comfortable, the view and balcony were good and the breakfast and evening meal were very good and the staff pleasant and attentive. Beautiful public rooms, pleased there was no wedding party that night!
A lift would have been appreciated instead of two long flights of stairs but this is an old building so understandable. Would have preferred a table in the main hall for breakfast but might have been less cosy than the refectory-type table next to the toaster (which was too small to take the bread provided, by the way!)

We stayed one night at The Old Hall and it was so lovely and such a special place to spend time. All of the staff were kind and made us feel very welcome. Our room was large and stylish and the bathroom excellent. We both loved the sitting rooms in the hotel where we were able to sit in super comfortable chairs, have a drink, read the paper and there are lots of games provided. The dining room is lovely with a wonderful view over to Ely Cathedral and the gardens to the rear of the hotel. Our breakfast and dinner were both excellent. It was also lovely to walk around the grounds of the garden which are very stylish and so much wildlife to see. We were very sad to leave.

A warm welcome to a classic country house hotel with open fires, cozy lounges, and a well-stocked bar. We had a well-appointed, clean and comfortable room with a great shower. The restaurant was excellent and the service was friendly and professional, we ended up eating here both nights. The breakfast was also very good, with perfectly cooked eggs, very nice and views across to Ely Cathedral. I am sure that we will be back, we wouldn't hesitate to recommend The Old Hall.
We loved the place, couldn't fault it.

Probably one of the nicest places I have ever stayed at in this country. The venue was incredible and you could see just how well the grounds were being cared for. The room and the view were really nice with the staff being incredibly friendly and helpful too. The breakfast was simply amazing - absolutely top class stay which I would recommend to anyone!
N/A - I simply couldn't fault a single thing as every aspect about the stay was simply top class!

The approach through the big gates are quite breath taking. The views of the grounds are spectacular - wonderful sculpted hedges and well maintained grounds. The double room was finished to a high level and spacious. Staff were first class. nick the night porter went above and beyond to check me in and get me to my room when I arrived past midnight. Fantastic location being so close to Ely train station, which I used to avoid driving in to Cambridge itself. Good strong wi-fi throughout the hotel as well - great from a works perspective.
Small things - hotels the world over fail on this one, so its not a quibble aimed just at the Old Hall. Full length decent sized mirror. I could envisage wedding guests wanting to check themselves and there wasn't a full size mirror to do - a proper one you can see yourself in, wide as well as fall. This doesn't detract from the stay, just a heads up.

Fabulous room with balcony and radiator which heated in minutes (important for my friend who suffers with the cold). Breakfast offered everything : cereal, fresh fruit (which couldn't have been fresher) yoghurt, the full english (Cambridge) the Cromwell (smoked Salmon & scrambled eggs), Kippers, Eggs Benedict, Eggs Florentine, Eggs Royale, Waffles ALSO a Vegan Option if required. Copious amounts of tea and a Nespresso Machine for coffee drinkers together with a toaster, can't think of anything else anyone would want? The views are amazing and you can see the Cathedral, but you have to walk round the grounds and the lakes to really appreciate both the house and the area. Part rewilded but on our walk we saw a Doe and Fawn and two pheasants - then coming back the amazing topiary of swans, which is stunning. Also had dinner there which was both beautiful to the eye and delicious to eat. Seating and blankets laid outside if you fancied some fresh air with coffee?
Being a tea drinker Nespresso Machine does not give hot enough water to make tea. (Coffee 90-95C, Tea has to be 100C). Easily sorted as requested a kettle which was in our room within 30 minutes. Having been out for the day and eaten we came back to our room, chilled, then fancied a nightcap at 2230hrs . . .bar closed, asked at reception, but no go. All fine but would be nice to know when bar closes? I'm a smoker and we smoked outside, but ashtrays not emptied - we felt like we should be emptying?
