I was upgraded to a larger room than I'd booked (lovely surprise!) which had a balcony and stunning views over the grounds and back towards the cathedral. The room was pristine with an added bonus of a capsule coffee machine (which also dispensed hot water for tea). The bathroom was large and the shower was decent (it leaked a little but the pressure was pretty good). The room did get a little warm overnight but an electric fan was in the room which did the trick. There was plenty of parking and the location wasn't bad for driving into Cambridge (about 30 minutes in morning rush hour).

The Old Hall is an ideal stopping point for those travelling by road from the Eurotunnel depot in Folkestone to the North. We received a warm welcome and were shown to an outstanding ground floor room with all facilities. The Old Hall has a strong focus as a wedding and event venue, so an a la carte menu was not available for dinner, but the meals provided were of high quality and thoughtfully served. The Old Hall has a real family-run atmosphere and is good value for money.

We had no complaints at all with facilities, service or welcome.

The staff was lovely, the location is beautiful, the building looks fantastic and feels homely and cosy. It was immaculately clean. We were upgraded to a lovely room with a bath, for free. There is a coffee machine in the room, and a selection of teas and coffees. The breakfast was really nice too, despite having limited buffet options. The menu was varied and the food was really good. We would definitely strongly recommend it.

There was quite a lot of light in the morning, in the room, despite having closed the blinds. The signalling inside the hotel looks a bit dated and cheap. It would be an easy fix and it would look glorious. The food in the restaurant (for dinner) was okay, we did not find it brilliant, and we found a bit weird that the food was served with white gloves.

Fantastic tastefully renovated period building, great views towards Ely, well maintained impressive grounds, large bedroom nicely furnished. Overall luxury feel to the whole property. Good food well presented both breakfast and diner.

Although very impressive bedroom suite, the TV was not very big so could not see it very clearly with-out moving the chairs closer, the blinds are not wide enough to cover the windows and breakfast finishes promptly at 9am, I appreciate as explained they need to prepare for Sunday lunch, but other hotels are able to offer later weekend breakfast that also offer Sunday lunch. We are not people who are late up, but felt not fully relaxed to make sure we are comfortably with-in the time allocated, shame as it is a lovely hotel.

Room with balcony view Decor of room, colour scheme and quality of bedding Gardens and flowers superb Welcome and friendliness of staff, everyone said hello and were curious about your stay, plans, visit even those just walking into start their working day.

(I am a tea drinker and so…) Whilst I could have requested a kettle for the room, as the sign explained, it would have been helpful if the situation of requesting one was explained when I was shown to the room. (I would have done it at that point). Also a USB charging socket was missed.

Virtually everything. Beautiful house, beautifully restored and maintained. Great lunch, fantastic views, possibly the most comfortable hotel bed that I've ever used. Staff actually seemed happy to be working there and the level of service reflected that. And it's not often that you see actual hallmarks on the cutlery!

Being really picky here, but a couple of pre-lunch cocktail glasses hung around on the lunch table for a long time, and the red wine glassware was rather thick and heavy given the quality of the wine. Ladies arriving in expensive shoes should be dropped off at the door rather than attempting the walk from the car park which is not as well finished as the rest of the property.

The room was immaculate and well designed, the bed was really comfortable, the view and balcony were good and the breakfast and evening meal were very good and the staff pleasant and attentive. Beautiful public rooms, pleased there was no wedding party that night!

A lift would have been appreciated instead of two long flights of stairs but this is an old building so understandable. Would have preferred a table in the main hall for breakfast but might have been less cosy than the refectory-type table next to the toaster (which was too small to take the bread provided, by the way!)

Our room was very comfortable, and had everything we needed. The breakfast had a great choice, and was very tasty. We were especially impressed by the beautiful grounds, and the view of Ely Cathedral.

The only real negatives were that our room faced the busy road, which was a bit noisy, even at night. And evening food choices were limited to platters only. These were enjoyable, but we could have done with a few more options.

We stayed one night at The Old Hall and it was so lovely and such a special place to spend time. All of the staff were kind and made us feel very welcome. Our room was large and stylish and the bathroom excellent. We both loved the sitting rooms in the hotel where we were able to sit in super comfortable chairs, have a drink, read the paper and there are lots of games provided. The dining room is lovely with a wonderful view over to Ely Cathedral and the gardens to the rear of the hotel. Our breakfast and dinner were both excellent. It was also lovely to walk around the grounds of the garden which are very stylish and so much wildlife to see. We were very sad to leave.

Probably one of the nicest places I have ever stayed at in this country. The venue was incredible and you could see just how well the grounds were being cared for. The room and the view were really nice with the staff being incredibly friendly and helpful too. The breakfast was simply amazing - absolutely top class stay which I would recommend to anyone!

N/A - I simply couldn't fault a single thing as every aspect about the stay was simply top class!
