We stayed 2 nights Excellent location close to city centre, very convenient while being quiet. Having its own carpark is a real bonus, a definite plus point The staff lady who served breakfast was really friendly and pleasant, lovely manner The breakfast was very good, generous too, cereals as well as cooked. The poached eggs and scrambled eggs were cooked to perfection, really good We liked the characterful 1920s building, the interior wood panelling, the lovely dining room and lounge Our room had a great view over the large lawns and big cedars, lordly really The bedroom was nicely decorated, very comfortable bed and very quiet for a good night's rest We would stay here again

The en suite was a bit cramped. The building itself overall was a bit shabby and could do with a bit of tlc When we read the negative comments in some other reviews we thought they must be talking about somewhere else as we just didn't recognise a lot of the points made Some downsides but definitely outweighed by the upsides

Friendly welcome on arrival from a very informative host. Free bedroom upgrade from a twin to a ground-floor family room to accommodate my limited mobility mother. Room was spacious and well equipped and I appreciated the spare blanket in the wardrobe. Breakfast was excellent with very friendly and attentive breakfast staff who ensured my dairy allergen mother was well catered for. I loved the wide choice of cold and hot food. Check-out was quick and efficient. Overall we both enjoyed our stay and would definitely return again.

Little things like 1 bedside light not working and that awful waterfall mural on the bedroom wall! Room 9. Overall there were many more things I liked than the small minor distractions I noticed.

Quaint quirky beautiful old building set in lovely evergreen grounds. Felt like you were staying in an old relatives house. Very welcoming very relaxing we all absolutely loved it. The lady who greeted us couldn’t do enough we were a mixed age family visiting family in Ely we had one year old twins and a six year old with us and we were well catered for. Breakfast was really nice with plenty of choice.

Water pressure not very good for shower but to be expected for age of property. Family room was in the attic which was up too many flights of stairs would have been better on lower floor.

Breakfast was 10/10 - such a nice variety of cold and hot foods. Great coffee. Really nice homemade & home grown cooked apple. Dinners were just as good, especially the pork in crème fraiche. Lovely dessert too. Robert & Zanna are great to chat to, they have lots of hilarious stories. They really made me feel so welcome and as if I were at home. The garden was lovely and I could see the cathedral from my window. I’m looking forward to staying again in the future.

I didn’t like that I didn’t stay for longer than 3 nights. I’ll have to extend my stay next time.

Within easy walking distance of the main attractions of what is in effect a small town. Attractive garden, ideal for a summer stay. Inside, like an old-fashioned small hotel with comfortable public area and a bar. Very pleased to be offered an evening meal. It is unusual in England nowadays in a place in this price range to be able to order a drink at the bar, take it outside into the garden and then go inside for dinner, and still walk into town afterwards. And decent breakfast.

Nothing really from our point of view. Some might consider it a bit worn round the edges but if that bothers you there are concrete motels along the A14. But it's a long walk into Ely.

The lady working in the bar and restaurant was exceptionally kind and respectful. Travelling with children is not easy but she was attentive and very helpful. The double bed was great and the family room was a great size. The room was full of any and all accessories you might need and the bathroom super clean. The garden was lovely and quiet and spaces to sit and chat near the garden means you do not have to spend the entire time in your room.

The man on the front desk was very grumpy and rude and was most unhelpful. Unable to take a dinner order with minor changes (e.g. steak with no tomato) without remarking rudely. No lift or assistance in carrying cases.

The room was a little tired but it was clean and the bed was comfortable. There was a good sized mirror on the dressing table next to a window with lots of natural light. The breakfast was excellent with lots of choice and really good service. Very tasty fruit salad and really well cooked Full English.

The choice of radio station playing in the dining room was a little odd. Given the clientele, radio 1 didn’t feel appropriate and the volume was quite loud. I could have done without rap music accompanying such an excellent breakfast! Maybe radio 2 a better option.

Location was excellent, easily walkable to the Cathedral and the City. Reception and breakfast staff very helpful and friendly. Breakfast well cooked. The room was clean and comfortable enough. On site parking. Dog friendly.

1 night last minute booking, so glad to be able to get in somewhere, however I thought the price was a little much for the single room. Great that it was dog friendly, but there was no notification beforehand (that I could see) that bringing a dog was an additional £10. I don't mind paying extra for a pet, but would have liked forewarning as it bumped the price up even more. Tiny shower room, (never seen a toilet bowl fitted at that angle before!) but served its purpose. I could hear TV, conversations and movements in adjacent rooms quite clearly - luckily my neighbours weren't night owls! A little bit of updating or tlc wouldn't go amiss in some areas.

Comfortable room, excellent breakfast and dinner. The evening meal was tasty, everything fresh and well cooked and at a good price. We particularly liked the choice of fresh and stewed fruits at breakfast. An easy walk into the town but you stay in lovely peaceful surroundings with use of the extensive gardens. There is no food service advertised during the day but when we said we were going to walk into town for a quick bite for lunch we were offered coffee and a sandwich in the garden - perfect! Robert and his staff are very helpful and we enjoyed our 2 night stay.

Some of the areas and furniture are looking a little tired, perhaps due to coming out of lockdown and the difficulties facing all small businesses. It does not detract from the comfort of the stay in a lovely, characterful property. TV in the bedroom would be better a lot bigger.

Breakfast was ok and the lady who served it was very nice.

Room smelt old and musty and felt dirty. No lamps by the bed. On arrival with 3 bags no offer of help to room. Everything was too much trouble for the host. Could hear him in the kitchen shouting while cooking. Dinner menu didn’t offer any vegetarian option. No restaurants near by so asked if there was anything he could do and he offered a ‘cheesy pasta sort of dish’ it was hot but served with new potatoes some very old looking corn on the cob and cauliflower.
