My wife and I stayed at the Bay Horse on a Friday night as we were visiting a flower show nearby the next day. We found the old inn very welcoming and the staff very friendly. Our room on the front of the building was lovely. Clean, spacious, quiet and all the facilities we required, including a good selection of channels on TV (surprised to find Netflix and Iplayer channels available) We found the bed brilliantly comfortable to our preferences. The stairs up to the room from the bar are a bit small and steep and although my wife does have mobility issues she managed okay with my help, but be aware, we were on first floor and the 2nd floor may have been more challenging. As we had made arrangements to meet friends on the evening we did not dine in but from the menu on view, and the amount of people in, it must be a popular place to eat. Car parking is in the main market place carpark just over the road. No problems there even though the market was on on the Saturday morning. Just park in the right area! All in all, we would not hesitate to return here if visiting the area again
The stairs could be an problem if you have mobility issues

We had the room (shown in the photo) which was on the second floor and was reached by a rather intriguing route! The bed was quite high but oh so comfortable. The room and bathroom were really clean, which is always so important to me. The owner was very approachable, friendly and yet professional. We had an evening meal and both of us were very pleased with our individual choices and they were able to facilitate my gluten-free diet. There was also a good choice of breakfasts in the morning (and I was offered gluten-free bread for the toast) We would happily stay here again!
Nothing!

A great centuries old pub with warmth and charm. The bar had plenty of choice and local hand pulled beers, the dining area is very clean and comfortable and meal choice great. The bedroom was spacious with nicely appointed onsite. There was a fan and a heater in the room if people wanted to use them yet it was south facing so beautiful warm and sunny. Tea and coffee with a mini fridge for your convenience. The shower was on the small side yet piping hot water and great shower unit. Access is limited for disabled visitors unfortunately as the bedrooms are all via stairs, yet if you can manage itâs well worth the climb. Very comfortable bed and bedding. Good flatscreen tv. Very quiet and even though you are above a pub you donât hear anything. The cooked breakfast is a great start to the day. Good job I took my hat as my bald head would have been either wind burnt or burnt to a crisp as the sun came out.
Didnât like the fact that we had to go home!

Disappointingly there was no catering - Thursday was the chefâs night off! (I donât think I was told about this when booking) No breakfast but I did know about that - yoghurts in fridge and muffins and extra teabags in hall, so no problem. I have dodgy mobility and the second flight of stairs to our room was very steep and narrow - so I didnât venture down them until we left next morning. The room was lovely and very spacious, and clean. The bathroom was teeny ( tiles in shower just starting to develop black bits on grout, but generally clean) but do-able. Large tv viewable from the very comfy bed: separate sofa in another part of room with good lighting for reading. Husband said excellent beer (he did venture back down the stairs)
Some Food on Thursday night would have been nice.

Very warm and friendly welcome from Ann. Spacious yet cosy and tastefully decorated suite -super comfortable bed- with lovely view toward town hall. Very close to main square. We were lucky with the weather but had it been raining we would have happily sat and read on fab sofa in our suite. We ate in the first night. Gorgeous steak pies made by pub's talented chef. The sticky toffee pudding was delicious too. Nice atmosphere in attractive pub. Not loud, just right. All in all, it's a great place to stay in Masham. Thank you Ann and Rob.
There was nothing we did not like but more tea bags would be welcome in room

Lovely big room, steep stairs to access but once there well worth it for the view, bathroom small but well equipped and lovely big shower. Would defiantly stay again if in the area. Staff very welcoming even though they were very busy when we arrived and showed us to our room. Fresh milk in the room was very welcome for our much needed cup of tea. Unfortunately did not stay for dinner or breakfast due to meeting up with other friends but the Bay Horse was very busy showing its popularity.

Fabulous location, perfect for all Sheep Fair activities. Great team, especially Ann and Charlie! Comfiest bed ever on the Swale room! Would definitely stay with Ann again. Thank you, team Bay Horse đ you are all Fab Ewe Lous! XxxX
It was a shame that breakfast is not included in the price. However, it is available for a supplement. Good value for Masham, though!

Centre of town. No on-site parking but plenty os spaces on adjacent square, ÂŁ1 honesty box. Reasonably priced. Staff most pleasant and helpful with advice. Large en-suite comfortable bedroom. Excellent beers in the bar, locals very friendly and willing to engage in conversation.
Stairs very steep and narrow not suitable for the infirm or disabled. No served breakfast but free tea/coffee facilities along with yoghurt and light snacks. Food not served on Wednesday or Thursday but given good advice where to reserve a table for dinner.

The property is well located in Masham, just off the market square, all of the âthings to doâ in the area are all within easy walking distance. The rooms are comfortable and quite quirky in this old building.
Because the building is old some of the staircases are quite steep and narrow. Unfortunately on the night we stayed breakfast wasnât available, we had stayed before and really enjoyed the breakfast so were disappointed as we had told our friends how good it had been.

Great hosts, feeling welcomed and at home from the very first moment. Chef in the kitchen is of notice and provide great quality choice for both meat and veggy choices. Room was amazing. An experience I strongly recommend. Thanks Robert for all tips and hints on real ale and serving techniques: unvaluable thing we will keep in our hearts!
Just take the proper attention on how to use the hot water for the shower
