I liked the quirky Fawlty Towers nature of the place. initially upgraded to a room with a bees nest outside the window, but the staff moved me to a lovely room with a leather sofa when I told them. Around 10pm that night a cat jumped through my window through the curtains. I screamed, the cat screamed, and then jumped back through the curtains. one night the TV came on by itself at 3am. on the last night I bumped into a couple who said “we don’t normally see other people here”, and when I turned around to say I was only there a few nights they were already gone. I’m staying at a few hotels in Exeter while I work here, and this was by far the most entertaining thus far. Really nice setting, and I just loved the quirkiness of it.

The hotel is very nice. One person stood out and was amazing, Emma Alfred, she was so helpful.

This hotel is an oasis in the middle of the chaos of an industrial estate, busy trunk roads and the chomping of housing development. Beautiful trees, calm atmosphere, chill staff and a taste of pre -homogenisation of the hotel experience.

The feeling that it would be sold to developers

Welcoming friendly staff - buffet breakfast excellent - good parking free of charge - lovely views across the garden (just hope pussie did not catch the bird or whatever it was hunting) -luxury premises - guests may find location of hotel somewhat difficult to find - in which case telephone the pleasant 'young' lady on reception

While bedroom was excellent, it was difficult carrying luggage upstairs - Also some of the other guests made noise both outside and inside the hotel (most inconsiderate for other guests trying to get off to sleep - and this was not early - around 11.00/11.30 pm) perhaps notices should be put up reminding guests to be quiet after say 10.30 pm as some of us do want to get to sleep having watched the 10.00 pm news. Other guests made noise when moving around very early in ther morning

The breakfast very good with everything you’d expect and plenty of it. The grounds were attractive and large. The staff were very pleasant and helpful extremely helpful

The first night we stayed in a ground floor room in the annex building and unfortunately we’re woken very early buy someone running around in the room above. To be fair , after we informed reception, we were moved to a room in the main building for the second night. This was lovely and quiet, until 06.15 when a plane flying above woke us 😂 As has been mentioned previously the property needs some updating, but it appeared that this is slowly being addressed.

Hard working and friendly staff who made every effort to accommodate our needs. the hotel is perfect for those who prefer something a little more unique than your typical hotel chain, as we do. if you expect a bland but safe Premier Inn or travel lodge type accommodation then that’s what you should book. This place is quirky, a little creaky and pleasantly old fashioned, our room had an extremely comfortable bed and hot shower. A stunning garden out back, comfortable bar with well maintained draft beer and a perfectly laid out buffet breakfast. really good value for money in my opinion!

a little bit of an early wake up call from the breakfast being set up in the dining room under our room. could probably do with putting the pans in a little softer if possible. but other than that, nothing to grumble about.

Reception and public room bar and breakfast very nice. Welcoming and helpful staff.

Dated and shabby bedroom. Well worn bathroom, over bath shower worked well with plenty of hot water. No nets or blind on windows. But clean, good quality white towels and White clean bedding on comfortable bed. Good help yourself breakfast, with plenty of choice, and nicely cooked. We were in an seperate area called the bungalow, with 3 room we were No.22. Looked like are working to improve, signs warning of wet paint, but no smells. Good value for a 1 night convenient for airport.

The grounds and main hotel are really lovely. Lots of space to sit as a group. Breakfast was served (instead of buffet) and those waiting tables were very receptive to requests. Food was hot and well prepared. We were located in the 'bungalow' which meant that our three rooms had the space to ourselves. We also had the additional space of a kitchen. Beds were beautifully comfortable too! Lots of hot water and towels for the lovely bath!

More signage to help you find the hotel would have been appreciated. There are new homes being built on the way in and although the sat nav post code brings you to the hotel, without signage you feel as if you are firstly driving into a residential area, then to a large house which could be mistaken for a group residential home.

Room was spacious, and the hotel itself is very spacious with lots of different areas to sit in

Breakfast was nice on 1st morning then it went downhill, bacon overcooked and dry sausage all shrivelled and one morning I ordered poached eggs on toast, eggs were hard, husband ordered scrambled egg he left it said it was undercooked referred it to baby food. 2 mornings we sat at least 7 minutes before order was taken, while 3 other couples who entered the dining room after us had their orders taken, but put this down to staff having to serve meals, rather than self service

Slightly away from the city centre, but still has a good multiple transport links (airport, Exmouth, city centre, rail stations etc), just follow timetable, arrive 10 min in advance. Silence hotel and area, very relaxing after busy day.
