The hotel's pre order dinner menu is brilliant, it's so nice to go into the dining room at a set time with other hotel guests, and see how other people's holidays are. I talked to a few people. That felt very traditional. The room was superb for a single that I booked very last minute. The staff were brilliant too. And the tiles in the lift are gorgeous.

Nothing. The whole two day stay was a dream!

The lovely sea view. The location was perfect. The staff were very friendly.

They was old splash marks from liquid on our bedroom walls and on some in the corridors that made the hotel look and feel grubby. The seats in the dinning/breakfast room were very tatty, the underneath was ripped and could be seen under most chairs when looking around the room. It was very 'snug' whilst having breakfast and with only one toasting machine it was very time consuming and made you fried breakfast cold if you wanted to eat them together. The lift is old and judders three times each usage and it not good for older frail people and myself who has a serious back problem

The daily menu choices were great and all the food was good quality, and the staff helped with alternate options when my mother did not like any of the main dish options on one day of the stay, The staff, were all friendly and helpful, and they set up a table with easy access in the dining room for my disabled mother, during our stay, the rooms were a good size and comfortable, the bathrooms were a little compact but functionable and clean, we enjoyed our stay overall

The building could be a little more disability friendly as there is no ramp or alternate way to enter, some of the entertainment was on a lower floor but there was no lift access to that floor so we missed out, we had a little trouble getting mum and her wheelchair in and out of of the building, mainly up and down main entrance steps, my disabled mother had trouble with the height of the bed, so we had to buy a step to get over that problem, but with the step we managed ok,

The whole ethos of the hotel and the fabulous staff that work there. Looking through the previous reviews, there are in my opinion some that have clearly been written out of context for a hotel that has some great plusses, that for me offers a great value for money break. The hotel is in an old building, and to moan it creaks well show me an old building that doesn't. Yes there are areas in need of a little tlc, but after what the whole world went through with covid lockdowns, and in particular the hospitality sector, they all did well to survive it, so a little slower progress with modernisation then certainly didn't take away from our fabulous family stay here. We had 2 rooms booked for a weeks stay, at check in we were made to feel welcome, and checked in with speed. Both rooms were very spacious, and like previous reviews the bedding was extremely clean. Tea, and coffee making facilities were ample, and all was replenished as needed when requested, along with room cleans, bedding exchanges etc. We had breakfast in the hotel most days, and the food quailty was excellent, along with the service given by the waiting staff. Bar was very modern with a good chioce of drinks at very reasonable prices, again staff very friendly, our daughters soon made friends with all the staff in all areas. Variety of entertainment on offer a couple of nights during our stay, we certainly had fun. All in all a fantastic break by the sea enhanced by the hospitality the carlton hotel showed the five of us, just sorry we had to leave today 03.06.2023. Ps thanks again for the surprise birthday cake, hope to see you all again on our next visit to great yarmouth.

Having to leave, after our excellent family hilday

great location with free parking right outside. sea view room which was plenty big enough and en suite with full bath, shower was not after few seconds. decent size desk in the room and tea/coffee/hot chocolate even with decaf tea which I was very pleased with. comfy bed and both bedding and towels were crisp white and very fresh-seemed brand new. lovely high ceilings and mouldings round doors and bed which was really nice. really pleased I didn’t read too much into the negative reviews and went and made up own opinion.

not much to say, decor was a tiny bit tired in places but nothing too bad. some rooms allowed dogs-I always find a bit odd to be greeted by a dog in the corridor in the morning with its owner, and wouldn’t want to think a dog has been in the room. our balcony doors didn’t open but I saw another one had, would have been great to have had door open with view and fresh air but settled for window.

The staff were lovely and all round fantastic when you needed something. The food was delicious and a good range for breakfast. Our room had a lovely view.

The view was lovely as I said before but there was many things that needed changing in the room. There was stains on the carpets, a sticky brown substance left on one of the side tables next to the bed. The toilet was unstable and our sink was extremely dirty when we got there. There was hair left in the sink, that wasn’t mine nor my partners as we are both not ginger. It just needed to be a little bit cleaner for my liking.

Everything. The beds were comfortable. Room itself was a decent size and had a tv, wardrobe, kettle, hairdryer and ironing board with a little table and chairs. The bathroom was lovely and clean. Good shower and had a couple of shower caps and some body and hair soap too which came in handy as I left mine at home. Lovely little kettle with some biscuits and other condiments which was lovely in the morning. View was absolutely incredible too. Will be definitely coming back here as me and my partner have planned to hopefully come again soon.

Not really a dislike but more a suggestion but would be nice to have some thinner duvets on the bed as it was a little bit hot during the summer and was sweating a bit during the night.

Most important paid for sea view got fantastic sea view as my health is poor very important to me room was spacious nice warm Wi FI , tv kettle etc good nice hot water shower and bath

Something not a complaint as I fully understand cost etc but all the more for looking after people tried evening meal it was ok but I wouldn’t rush to go back the restaurant lacked atmosphere a little back ground music maybe the ladies were ok but wearing jeans I know they cater for coach holidays so it’s like just get them in get them out I got offered water but no wine menu if it was my business first thing I would push the drinks menu

I stayed here last year, which is why i chose it again this year and it was just as nice... The young lady on reception was very nice and very helpful 👍 We were on the top floor on the end of the building so the views were lovely The room was massive with two windows and a lovely view It had everything you need plus a lovely little seating area The bathroom was very clean with lovely white towels And the shower was massive The location is absolutely fantastic and there is lots of PARKING spaces around the front and sides of the hotel which is FREE My only little negative is that it's a shame on a night they don't turn up the music a little bit more in the bar downstairs( I'm not talking nightclub loud),just a bit more evening like, just give it a bit of an atmosphere, liven up the bar staff just to a cheery level and i think that would get more people to come in and happily stay longer too because i would have... oh and stock some crisps, people love crisps when they're drinking and you gain again then because crisps make you thirsty so we buy more drinks ! Win win situation hehe ! So yes i once again recommend this hotel and hopefully stay again next year..

I Liked everything

Super friendly staff & a great location. Breakfast good & great value. Super accomodating for my dog, good shower & quiet at night. Quite old style as hotel has been there for a while I imagine, but if we want super modern go super modern - personally I liked the traditional style & everything functioned perfectly. Will definitely stay again next timeI'm in the area.

That I didn't see there was scrambled egg also available during breakfast *facepalm*. Other than that, I had no issues at all with the place & can wholeheartedly recommend it to anyone. More words to fill up the reivew.
