The house is beautiful, inside and outside. The attention to detail, to create a Victorian home, surpassed our expectations, and it was like going back in time, with so much to look at and absorb. We were made to feel welcome straightaway, by Paul, the owner. Each of our bedrooms was unique and in addition to the beauty, there was also comfort, cleanliness and peace there. The breakfast was delicious, and we loved the dining room, tableware and presentation of breakfast. The garden was a fantastic and whimsical surprise, and we are in awe of the dedication to detail and commitment to provide guests with such a relaxing and beautiful time away. The owners are kind, courteous, interesting and professional, and no detail was overlooked by them.

That we hadn't planned to stay longer!

A truly hidden gem! The rooms and beds were comfortable - lots of incredibly thoughtful touches. We had a great view of the sea and were made very welcome throughout our stay. It was delightful getting to know a few of the other guests during the delicious breakfast. The location was quiet and a stone’s throw from the seaside, beautiful parks and cafes/restaurants. The property itself… the images do not do it justice. Incredible and somehow dust-free! Will definitely be coming back. One night wasn’t enough!

A shower instead of a bath would have been useful. However it’s understandable with the date and use of the building previously that there wasn’t a shower available.

The hosts were the heart and soul of the property. I can't begin to tell you how fabulous this place is, especially if you are an antique and story collector like me. The hosts were just amazing and happy to indulge me in my questions and to show me hidden secrets in the house. The gardens are stunning with a plethora of fruit and vegetables with butterflies fluttering about. Just magical. I loved it. The design of the hotel was nothing short of spectacular. Each space had its own personality, elegance and timeless charm. From the richly patterned wallpapers to the carefully curated art pieces, every detail seemed to tell a story. Beyond the beauty, the hotel’s comfort was on par with its aesthetic. My room was HUGE, the bed like a canopied cloud, and the amenities top-notch. There was high-speed Wi-Fi and tea and home made cake served in the drawing room upon arrival.

Nothing, I loved it.

This was the second time my partner and I stayed at St Benedict and the reason we came back is because we have never experienced anything quite like this B&B before. Alex and Paul are two of the most attentive, friendly, accommodating hosts we have ever had the pleasure of meeting. The B&B itself is absolutely stunning and full to the brim of Victorian trinkets and artefacts, each piece with its own backstory. Breakfast is served at a large dining table which gives you the opportunity to meet other guests staying at the B&B and chat over coffee and a traditional south coast breakfast of eggs, toast and a kipper, although there are plenty of other options to choose from if this isn't your bag. The area itself is full of history with Hastings right next door to St Leonard's and there are many, many beautiful independent shops to browse, museums to visit, pubs to stop off for a drink at and food to eat. The Crown in Hastings was a personal favourite of ours for food and atmosphere. And of course you have the sea right on your doorstep with a lovely cafe called Goat Ledge serving hot drinks and toasties with delicious vegan options on the menu too. We will definitely be back for a 3rd time and hopefully many more too.

We have zero complaints, everything was wonderful!

A thoroughly enjoyable stay. Good location with all facilities within fairly easy walking distance. A completely different experience in as much as we had never stayed in a property like it - the attention to detail in creating a Victorian experience could not be faulted. Our host was brilliant - nothing was too much trouble and he was able to offer useful tips as regards places to visit, things to do etc. The property might not be to everyone's liking (see pictures on the website) but we loved it. We didn't even miss not having a TV which was a first for us.

The building and decoration is fabulous. It really is like a living museum. Breakfast was wonderful and we loved how the flames from the real fire reflected in the silverware.

There was nothing that we were not aware of before we booked - the bathrooms are external to the rooms and the location is a bit of a walk from the beach but we knew both things in advance and neither took away from our enjoyment of staying in such a unique place!

We had a wonderful stay! The St. Benedict BnB is truly spectacular and unique, every corner of the house is a piece of art, and the garden is lovely and so peaceful! The hosts are incredibly kind, and went above and beyond to help us out. We had some car troubles, Paul and Alexander graciously allowed us to stay for a late checkout and even drove us to the mechanic. Truly remarkable hosts and on top of that, breakfast was delicious! It was really a pleasure and we feel very lucky to have found this beautiful gem!

We had a truly unique experience at St Benedict. The place is spectacular - full of beautiful curiosities and so much history and style. We really appreciated the friendliness of the hosts and thoroughly enjoyed the breakfast, which was delicious, and meeting fellow guests. We can't recommend this highly enough. We had such a wonderful time and really want to return, especially in the summer to see the beautiful gardens..

No shower, just bath, which might be a little difficult for some.

A great B&B, very different from anywhere else I've ever stayed and it's clear the owners have put their heart and soul into the property. A feast for the eyes, it was more like staying in a museum! The garden is beautiful too. Breakfast was very good with lovely views into the garden and the owners were very attentive and personable

As it was very hot I didn't really want a bath and was initially disappointed there wasn't a shower. However, the bath was very big and deep and I had the window open looking over the garden and the sea, and I ended up really enjoying it!

This hotel is beautiful, it's like stepping back in time the minute you're through the door, the decor, the furniture, everything about it! The staff couldn't have been more helpful, very polite, the food (breakfast) was fresh each morning, dietary requirements were met (vegan) and very accommodating

It's on a hill, so if you're arriving by train bear that in mind, not an issue if you're fit but otherwise feels like a bit of a climb (but worth it!!)
