The restored castle which is the main building is very impressive and the lounge and dining room have a very good medieval ambiance. The staff were delightful, very welcoming, looking after one of our group who arrived early and was slightly unwell with great kindness. The rooms in the old stable block were spacious and very well equipped including large armchairs, Beds were also large and comfortable. Dinner and breakfast were excellent. The grounds are quiet and peaceful, large enough for a stroll with our dogs. The dogs were also made welcome in the lounge.

Very minor gripe - service in the lounge area was slow.

Overall the experience offered by Langley Castle was fantastic, we thoroughly enjoyed the architecture to the family friendly dining. The drawing room was inviting and very comfortable to sit in while having coffee, drinks, and waiting for supper.

The restocking of glassware in suites could have been improved, but overall we have little to consider as a negative point. The bed in the Tower Suite was less comfortable than expected. As a comparison, just prior we had stayed at Lumley Castle in the Queen Anne Suite in which we found the bed considerably more comfortable.

We thought the food on both the A la Carte and the relaxed menu was very good. Certainly recommend. The breakfast we felt could have included the cheeses and meats as no extra charge. It is very rare to find a hotel charging for those items on a continental menu. The location was idyllic and the Cadwaller Room exceeded our expectations. My husband thoroughly enjoyed the tour of the castle on the day we left.

The only issue for us personally was the amount of stairs. We were staying at Langley Castle as my husband and I and wanted a restful location after medical problems. I obviously failed to notice the amount of stairs when booking. I will request a lower room in future.

Langley Castle Hotel is a beautifully restored Castle, steeped in history. Staying here really did feel special. Some nice long walks from the doorstep, if you're looking to be active, and a cold beer, or afternoon tea in the drawing room afterwards. Lots to do nearby if you want to explore Northumberland, but we decided to relax and soak up the peace and quiet. We stayed in one of the Castle View lodges which was a stone's throw from the castle, and within the grounds. The room was perhaps a little more tired that the main castle rooms, but this was most definitely reflected in the price. Lots to praise about this hotel, but the food needs a special mention. It was exceptional and their 'a la carte menu in the evening was one of the best meals I have had in a long time.

This is a boutique hotel in a small medieval castle. The staff were amazing and the castle itself was wonderful. The photos don’t do it justice. The stay was myself and my 8 year old son for his birthday; he didn’t want a birthday party and his dad and brother had to travel away on his birthday and I was at a loss what to do. We had just started watching the Harry Potter movies so I thought a castle stay would be interesting. It turned out there is a very tenuous link to Harry Potter (JK Rowling stayed here once), and the mood of the castle is a good match and there was even a Hogwarts costume to dress up in. My son LOVED it (even without a pool, activities for children, etc.) and begged to stay another night. There is a free history tour every day which was a lovely bonus. The food was good, too - especially the breakfast. The main lounge is a lovely place to relax and have afternoon tea….

Nothing- considering it is a medieval castle.

Wonderful old castle in beautiful surroundings. Comfortable, good food and hospitality. We arrived having had a six hour journey and being up at 6.30am to take our daughter to work. We initially booked a table for dinner then changed our minds as we were shattered and asked for room service. Absolutely no problem. Dinner was bought to our room. Hot, tasty and enjoyable. We then discovered that our tv didn’t work. Again, absolutely no problem, our room was changed immediately. Thank you to the lovely receptionist who dealt with our change of mind and tv issue. She remained cheerful polite and processional and nothing was too much trouble. Lovely breakfast and perfect boiled eggs. Many thanks

Sadly the tv didn’t work in our room however the staff were brilliant and the situation was rectified straight away.

Very good location with beautiful countryside close by and the sites of Hadrians Wall. Newcastle also not that far away with art galleries, good shops and restaurants. The castle is very well appointed with the public rooms very well furnished with excellent decor and very atmospheric! The service from staff was very good indeed all round. Our meal in the restaurant was very , very good and the dining room itself is a particularly lovely room and beautifully decorated. Breakfast was also super with lots of choices available. Our bedroom was stunning with a really great bathroom and extremely comfortable and warm.

The atmosphere was great, the decoration and history of the building was unique. The staff, the ambiance and the food were superb! We had such an enjoyable time, if anything not long enough to soak it all in. Having a tour after breakfast was a great extra we didn’t know was available on booking, and we learnt so much about the castle. The History leaflets made for great reading as well. The room guard is another wonderful little touch. We stayed in the Derwentwater Room (room 1), and what a room it was! Highly recommend for anyone to stay and we hope to be back to try out another room.

We wouldn’t have changed anything.

Absolutely beautiful setting. We stayed in the Percy room and the bed was really comfortable. Sitting in the grounds with a drink on a summer evening was a highlight. The beautiful Peacocks add to the grandeur. We had dinner in the main restaurant and the food was fantastic and reasonably priced. I had the scallops and then Stone Bass. Both were delicious. Crepe Suzette finished at the table which was a lovely touch. Wine list also very reasonable.

The restaurant appears to be run by very young staff. We had to fill our own wine from the freestanding wine cooler at the side of our table. We had to ask for water to be topped up. At the end of the meal the staff vanished. We waited for around 15 minutes but they did not return. It was a bit of a disappointing end to the meal. The bill was just added on to the room. A few other tables also just got up and left. The room next door had an interconnecting door into our room which was not locked. We mentioned this to reception when we arrived but it was not acted upon.

This is the third time we stayed at Langley. This time was somewhat disappointing as we got a room with 2 small twin beds. Last time we got room 19, same price but much better, and bigger. However we will return, everything was good, except one evening we ordered the "steak" on the evening menu, and it was not good at all. Other than that all was well.
