The location was excellent and the staff were very pleasant. The bar had a nice ambience. The bedroom looked like it had recently been decorated to a very high standard, which was a nice surprise.
These are more observations than criticisms... 1. The cooked breakfast (on the Sunday) took 50 mins to arrive, from first sitting at the table, which I felt was a tad slow, particularly as I was the only guest for 20 mins and only three other people arrived prior to my breakfast arriving. 2. The bedroom toilet seat/lid felt thin and cheap, which seemed somewhat incongruous, as all other fittings were of a very high standard.

2 night stay at Coach and Horses. Bedroom very comfortable , clean and nicely decorated. High quality pillows, which is far from typical. Breakfast was good standard. Ate dinner in restaurant one evening - both of us really impressed with chicken and leek pie. Staff very pleasant, accommodating and friendly, especially Cameron and the hotel manager. Good range of beers. Would have no hesitation in recommending this hotel.
Nothing.

The Coach and Horses is a beautifully presented building. On arrival I was warmly greeted at the reception area of the bar which, given the time of year, was decorated tastefully festive, giving a warm and cosy vibe. I was delighted to receive an upgrade on arrival and was guided up to my room with information provided on the way I.e. out of hours access, we’re to go for breakfast. I noted that the communal areas were immaculate, as was my room which smelt gorgeous and clean. The room itself was also very tastefully decorated and cosy. Well stocked tea/coffee tray with plenty of tea options and a good amount of coffee sachets, as well as hot chocolate and biscuits. Bathroom essentials also available (shampoo/conditioner/shower gel and moisturiser) Lovely thick fluffy towels provided and the shower was decent - incredibly clean also! Plenty of good lighting in the room and double sockets either side of the bed for charging phones. Slept well in the comfy bed and was kept cosy all night. My only complaint would be that street noise does carry into the room but it is a listed building with sash and case windows and there were earplugs provided for use (nice touch). Was cheerfully greeted to breakfast in the morning and after helping myself to fresh juice and fruit from the buffet I ordered poached eggs on toast. Full English and veggie breakfasts available, as well as breakfast baps and eggs benedict…..if I’d had more time I’d have tried the full veggie breakfast! Overall great experience at the coach and horses, would recommend and would stay again!
No parking at property but parking nearby - on street outside if lucky otherwise Wentworth long stay is a good option, just 2mins walk!

Very good location. Five minutes walk, if that, to town centre and abbey. 100 yds from bus station . A bit further from train station and uphill! Although on main road no traffic noise even in my room (no.4) facing the road. Warm welcome. All staff very friendly. Room , recently refurbished I think, was exceptionally comfortable. I booked a single and was given a double. Much appreciated. One criticism. Lighting in bathroom very poor. No light above washbasin making shaving quite difficult. Ate dinner at sister pub right across the road as menu was more extensive. It was good.
See above re. bathroom lighting. At breakfast my bacon and eggs were overcooked, especially the bacon. Think it had been cooked a while beforehand and kept warm.

The property was in a great position and the facilities excellent. From first contact everyone was friendly and the service excellent. The room was very well appointed with very comfortable bed and hot shower. Housekeeping kept the room spotless. Breakfast was very satisfying with excellent range of cold options and fresh fruit and the cooked breakfast excellent and cooked to order. Food in the bar was excellent too, the steak and ale pie is highly recommended.
Unfortunately on one evening there was no chef so no food available, but this was very minor

Lovely room. Recently refurbished to a high standard. Popular pub and restaurant downstairs
Parking could be an issue as there isn’t any. So there are around six street parking bays across the road or there are some behind the old bus station again across the road. We managed to park there every night. Just down the road there is a very large car park. All of these are free though. Breakfast for some reason took ages to come out and was always way overcooked. A slight adjustment and it all would have been superb

The breakfast were great, prompt service and great food, nothing was too much trouble. We also ate here on 2 evenings after a busy day, good food and drink. The room was a good size with a Super King size bed and a good sized bathroom and large shower. The room did get hot but an air cooler was supplied and also a fan.
No on site parking but the high street had just had a re-vamp, a parking disk system was in force, supplied by the hotel and we managed to park easily every time we returned to Hexham and managed to stay until 11am if needed.

The staff here were exceptionally helpful. They ensured that after a long and difficult journey the kitchen stayed open to feed me and were quick, friendly and efficient when I needed to get away early the next day. Food was good and reasonably priced. The room was beautifully appointed but most of all there were exceptional small touches with everything from a shoe cleaning cloth to a face mask available to ensure I had everything I required - and some! Wish I could have stayed longer.
Maybe a 7am start for breakfast rather than 7.30am but that would be really nit-picking as the staff were exceptionally accommodating.

Fantastic food. Top restaurant quality dining, but at pub prices. Room nicely refurbished and very clean. Given that it looks like a welcoming town centre pub, it didn't have noisy live music, or big screen sport.
Hard to criticise much. The rooms at the front experience noise from the street, - you find people congregate outside the front to chat. The place could do with secondary glazing to counteract that. A minor point, I hate checking in at the bar. Not sure if it is a hotel with a bar, or a pub with rooms.

The staff were exceptionally welcoming and always made a fuss over our pup. She was treated like a princess the whole stay, with treats in the room and her own breakfast! The human breakfast options were great too. The room was beautiful and really clean with all the amenities you might need. We appreciated the air cooling unit and fan. The location is super central and although the hotel doesn’t have parking we never struggled to find nearby free parking. We would stay again for sure.
