The food was delicious and portions very generous. The staff were extremely helpful and efficient and the room we were staying in was large, very clean and bright. We were made to feel welcome and the atmosphere was good.

The only thing we did not like was the mattress in our bed which was so hard that we both felt bruised the following morning. Also there was only one chair in a room for two people and no comfortable arm chair at all.

The staff were all very friendly and helpful and the location was good for our purposes having easy access to the motorway and being near to the friends we were visiting. The restaurant was comfortable, convenient and reasonably priced for our evening meals. Also, there was plenty of off-road parking but they need to have the flood issue sorted out as this precluded use of a large part of the car park during our visit. Fortunately it was not a problem at that time.

Although the hotel was clean and tidy it is noticably in need of refurbishment generally. Also, the continental breakfast fell well below expectations. The orange juice was from concentrate, the coffee was luke warm, the croissant was hard and the yogurt had a back-taste of garlic. We mentioned this to the waitress who apologised and said she would follow it up. But we received no response and no offer of a refund. It was not a cheap option. However, the full-English was very good but again, the orange juice and coffee fell short of the mark.

We were greeted at the door immediately upon entry by a very happy and amenable young man which after 5 hours of driving was most welcomed. Almost all front of house staff were happy, hospitable and helpful throughout our stay. We were visiting local family, which all wanted to know our own experience of Green Lodge, apparently it had suffered a "hit and miss" replutation but we couldn't see why this would be as we were more than happy with everything we experienced from breakfast to evening dinner to housekeeping. Would definately rebook.

Room 2 - cracked bathroom sink.

I had a really good sleep which was really good as I often have a disturbed night. The room was big and airy but the en suite was a little small but there was everything I needed for a night away. The staff were very friendly. I wish I'd had time to walk along the beach a bit as I did when I was young. Perhaps next time?!

I didn't have a breakfast. It's never been my favourite meal and the menu didn't really appeal to me. Sorry but that's my problem, not yours.

lovely location - nice bars and restaurants in walking distance or short drive away. the beach is also at the bottom of the road, so plenty of opportunity to get out and about in the local area. didn’t get the opportunity to sample the evening menu, however the breakfast was great, with a wide selection at a very good price. very well stocked bar 👍🏼. staff welcoming and attentive. beds were comfy and the room was surprisingly spacious (sharing a twin room with my mother). if I’m ever in the area again, I’ll definitely stop by/stay again.

Accommodation is basic but okay value for price paid

Customer service was interesting. A lot of staff said , I’m not supposed be here. Not too sure if they said this as a reason for poor service. Young bar staff were okay. The more mature woman absolutely does everything possible to make you stay awful. Needs to go. Breakfast not worth the money paid. The ‘chef’ also told us he shouldn’t be there. Would have been preferable if he wasn’t.

Loved the size of the room, the usb plug sockets, nice pub to have a drink in without having to drive or walk home. Would be good if you wanted food too. The proximity to Hoylake is very good and is also in walking distance of west Kirby. Although there were some down sides, I think I would still choose to stay here rather than across the road at Kings Gap, based on the atmosphere of the pub.

The floorboards were very creaky but an old building so what can you do. The shower was a bit of a challenge. had problems getting hot water then the seal fell off the shower door so had to jump back out to re-attach it. The doors to the rooms made a lot of noise when closing. The exiting through the fire exit seemed a little insecure. I think you had to lock it on the way out, but not sure. There could have done with being some written instructions. I also went out once and it was already open as the door had caught on the swollen wooden doorstep.

We have stayed here many times. Good location for beach and town. Visited West Kirby this time only 3 minutes on the train. Promenade lovely and nice shops too. Easy to get to Liverpool centre on the train for shopping ,theatres and entertainment Staff at the hotel were very friendly. Its a good place to stay. Food good too.

Only problem was the squeaky bathroom door in our room. Room 5

Our second time at the Green Lodge, and the Marston brand seems pretty consistent. We find it handy for Liverpool as the rail station is only a five minute walk (free park and ride) and trains are three an hour into the city, about £3.50 return. And Hoylake has a beach! Parking onsite. The rooms have been refurbished (although ours had a cracked sink, it must have happened recently) and, as it's an older building, they are very spacious (our bathroom was huge). We ate there in the evening and had a smashing dinner, and breakfast in the morning was excellent: freshly cooked to order (you choose the night before at the moment) and you can have pretty much anything. The staff are very friendly and helpful. The radiator in our bedroom (room 2) didn't work and our waitress did her best to solve the problem, including bringing us a fan heater, but it was a mild night so all was OK. (We could have slept in the bathroom I suppose!). Great hotel for visiting The Walker Art Gallery and everything Liverpool and The Wirral has to offer.

All good and thanks to all the staff who took care of us.
