The staff couldn't have been more helpful - the owners are a credit. The room was lovely. Nice and quiet. Breakfast was great - probably the best bacon I have ever had in any accommodation. Don't judge a book by its cover - the outside looks a little foreboding but this place is really, really excellent.

Transport from the rail station could be hit and miss during the day and the timetable was confusing. The buses are infrequent and the ferry doesn't run at weekends. The trains are very frequent though and there is a great cafe across from the station in Hamilton Square, so no problem hanging around for the next bus. Getting to the hotel means walking through or past an industrial estate that was largely deserted when we arrived late Friday afternoon. If there is a taxi, definitely worth taking.

Lovely, friendly staff and fantastic breakfast, even the little dog Brisket likes to say hello. Dave really knows all about things to do, where to go and how to keep costs down for travelling around. His mum is really nice and both asked every morning how was our day/evening and what plans we had for the day. Comfortable bed and clean room with large shower which is all updated, I've seen the before pictures and wow what a transformation! Within walking distance to the ferry for Liverpool, and buses to Birkenhead and Chester, also just a short drive to New Brighton where me and my son went for a walk on the beach, arcades and bowling. It also has car parking around the back so feels more secure and you can come and go as you please. My son has already asked when we can stay again and I'm already looking at when the next date will be. Honestly could not recommend this hotel enough and its reasonably priced compared to some around the area.

There was not really anything we did not like about our stay, only thing was our early wake up call from our neighbours. I think they forgot it was only 6am and did not have inside voices to use. Obviously this cannot be helped by staff but just be mindful if you like a little lay in.

It’s practically right across the Mersey Ferry terminal in Seacombe, which makes it super convenient to go to Pier Head and surrounding areas in Liverpool. As a seasoned traveller, the way Dave & his mum looked after guests and run their business is a credit to the tourism industry. While many other properties cancelled bookings made for Eurovision so they can charger higher rates, I appreciated that Dave did not do this for his Eurovision guests. And it was a bonus that he really got stuck in the Eurovision fever that took over Liverpool! I won’t soon forget how much I enjoyed my week here.

Nothing, except that my Eurovisioning was such a late one on most nights that I overslept the 9am breakfasts!

The friendly owner David and his family was very helpful. First impression when you pull up is “what have I booked” but don’t be fooled. Reception very friendly, I explained my concern to David who explained the history of the building. Room 207 was just perfect, and for £80 with a wonderful breakfast in the new conservatory, is such outstanding value, being just 5 mins to the Stenna Line ferry. Even went on the “ferry ‘cross the Mersey” just because it’s 2 mins walk from the hotel, if you are looking for a friendly welcome, excellent location for ferry, good inclusive breakfast and VERY good value then book The Liver View, John LT

Initial view, but looks are deceiving

Truly welcoming stay in sparkling clean facilities / comfortable beds / friendly, attentive staff. Exceptional breakfast. Would definitely stay here again. We loved Briscoe! We left with a smile on our faces. Really can't say enough about how much we enjoyed our stay at The Liver (pronounced LIE-VUHR, not LIH-VUHR) View.

Guests with difficulty on stairs should know there is not an elevator. We did not mind and our host helped us carry cases upstairs. That is the only thing that would worry me if I were traveling with someone for whom stairs are difficult. It is a fantastic place with super welcoming people.

The Liver view hotel in Birkenhead has excellent facilities, good service of the staff, and good value for money . Dave and her mom cater to our needs with pleasant attitude. Full English Breakfast was served it was delicious with brewed coffee and different types of cereals of you like. the room and toilet was clean , big window that you can see the view of liverpool waterfront and it has comfy bed, with complimentary kettle and coffee, tea, milk and sugar. It accessible to bus service and ferry seacombe ferry terminal and bus stop is just 2mins away.

It will be better if there’s an exhaust fan inside the toilet to let the steam out after bath and have a bit air circulation.

A hidden gem in Liverpool and one of the nicest hotels we have stayed in. The owners are the friendliest and most accommodating people you will ever meet, a real credit to their establishment. Rooms lovely, really comfortable beds & breakfast delicious & the added bonus of a friendly wee dog to say hello at any opportunity. Perfectly placed for all modes of transport over to Liverpool, Seacombe ferry just across the road (our favourite & most relaxing way to get there & time for a delicious coffee during the crossing) or £6 for a taxi to Hamilton Square railway station & a 3 min train over to Liverpool or a bus all for £6 a day unlimited travel with a metro card. The river walk from Seacombe to New Brighton with a couple of pubs along the way & a handful of restaurants at New Brighton well worth the effort (approx 4.6 km) The hotel was a real treat to escape the vibrant hustle & bustle of Liverpool for a peaceful night's sleep & some quiet time before heading back into the big city to see the sights all over again. Have to say Liverpool is one of the friendliest places we have been to & everyone was so helpful. Especially our hosts Dave & Mum. We didn't want to leave & will be back although not as soon as we'd like as they are pretty fully booked and we can see why! Thank you for making us feel so welcome - 'arrive as strangers leave as friend's' 💜 ps poached eggs are just the best 10/10!!

Having to go home!

Absolutely fantastic family run business. Omg you shalt be disappointed. the welcome we got when we arrived was absolutely amazing. Dave & family where so friendly, & helpful. they couldn’t do enough for us. from the bedding in the rooms, which is high quality, brand new comfy beds. the shower was amazing in the room. The breakfast was 5* we seriously had nothing to complain about. A young man doing the whole hotel up & the story behind it, it melts your heart. Love there saying. arrive as strangers & leave as friends. There now our family & we shall only be staying here. Never booking anywhere else when we go back up.

Breakfast was great - cooked to order with no need to order the night before. Dave, the owner, was very friendly and really helpful, offering lots of useful tips and advice for our stay. Rooms were well cleaned each day without requesting them to be done. Although perhaps not a picturesque location it is ideal for access to the ferry across to Liverpool and access to all parts of the Wirral.

Can only think of really minor, seemingly trivial things like ideally having a stronger bedside light to read by.
