The room was good size but could do with scatter rugs on the wooden floor. Bed was very comfortable Dinner menu not extensive but food is excellent. Dinner service was excellent. Staff were friendly and welcoming Location is in an extremely pleasant and quiet neighbourhood.

I couldn't get the underfloor heating in the bathroom to work. Breakfast is not served until 0800 - but when it comes, it is good. Breakfast was NOT included in my room rate

Beautiful, quiet rural location with exceptionally well done garden design next to rooms and around property and in back garden. Lovely to sit out in. There's also a little coffee shop with pastries attached to the pub. Staff were incredibly friendly and food was excellent and I had a tasty vegetarian dish. The room was well decorated, clean, although not large, and we had a bath which we had requested. Altogether, a great stay and would highly recommend. I stayed with my Mum and we visited Highclere Castle where Downton Abbey was filmed which is a 15-20 min drive from there so suited us well.

The female assistant manager was exceptional and we received such a warm welcome - she really was brilliant. The rooms around the courtyard were delightful and the whole atmosphere was gorgeous, a beautiful and peaceful place to stay - also convenient for visiting Highclare Hall.

We thought the breakfast was a bit stingy - no sausages left but we still got just one slice of bacon and one piece of toast each, plus a single cup of coffee and no refil, no cereals or fruit to start with either. They normally don’t do food on a Sunday evening - although they made an exception as it was the big match! No offer of even a light bite under normal circumstances.

The property is in a pleasant countryside location. The staff are all friendly and the rooms very nice. Excellent WiFi and our evening meal was excellent, being served by attentive staff.

The pre order breakfast system is a shambles. The pre order form is misleading stating that only a limited item number of items may be ordered. After ordering and stating a time of 9 am we waited for 25 mins for our cereal and a further 10-15 mins for our mains. Very haphazard service to say only three tables were occupied.

The staff, Tom and the beautiful blonde that worked with him (we forgot her name) we’re so helpful and attentive! The grounds and fresh air a plus. Our bed was very comfortable. The food was superb!

Nothing!

Staff where very friendly and helpful. Even quiz night when some of the locals were not being polite to staff they all kept on smiling. loved the court yard area accommodation is around nice to have some where to sit out side of room.

The plug in bathroom was broken we did report it (not until we left.)no hairdryer that was sorted Decor looking a bit battled in some places. Broken handle on chest of draws Having helped a friend in a very similar pub accommodation these are things that should be picked up by house keeping and fixed ahead of new quest. Saying that really liked the rooms let down by such small things

The rooms are all on the ground floor overlooking a lovely landscaped courtyard. The establishment is fully dog-friendly (restaurant included) and does not charge for dogs. We travelled with three and it was not a problem at all, whereas other hotels had asked us for 20 GBP extra per dog per night. The rooms are spotless, with tea/coffee-making facilities, complimentary mineral water and toiletries, and baggage storage space. The parking is convenient for loading/unloading. The staff is friendly and helpful. It was rainy when we stayed but the area looked beautiful

The restaurant menu is seasonal and the food is very good and well presented but there are not many vegetarian/vegan options so check online for the seasonal dishes before you dine there.

Always try to stay at a pub environment with room when away with work, have done for many years. The Crown and Garter was exceptional, room was spacious, modern with great decor, bathroom very modern and all very very clean. Staff were fantastic, very polite and attentive without going overboard. Food was delicious, nice menus with the perfect amount of choice, not pages of options which meant fresh food. Good local ales which is a must for me. I highly recommend staying or dining if you are in the area

Nothing not to like

Rooms were really lovely, liked the outdoor space. Great selection of teas and coffees in the rooms. EVC was a welcome surprise and saved me worrying about recharging the following day.

Hairdryer not great, wire too small to reach any mirror - was the only issue in the room that was otherwise perfect and excellent quality. Breakfast the following morning, staff were lacklustre, didn’t offer cold drinks or water. Poached eggs looked great but were uncooked and once the runny white touched the plate it spoilt what was otherwise a lovely breakfast.

Quiet and comfortable. A nice room with good bathroom. Dog friendly and an EV charger on site. Good beer garden and friendly staff.

Please… do not serve a burger on a wooden board, only just wider than the burger itself. I don’t want to have to eat my meal off the table as it slides around. Plates were asked for and brought quickly enough, but the nonsense with the board could have been avoided. The photograph of the pub on the Booking website isn’t up to date. There is now a cream awning all along that elevation.
