The room was lovely and the whole building had character. But what really made the stay great were the staff. They were very polite, helpful and professional as one would be expect from a hotel like Hintlesham Hall. Breakfast was good but it was the dinner there was great. Make sure you have at least one meal whilst staying there. Expect to be well dressed for dinner, jeans and t-shirt isn’t really good enough. The hotel has standards which is nice and makes the stay feel worth the cost. So if you are travelling in Suffolk then do try to stay at least one night here. It’s worth it.

The hallways floor boards were rather creaky. But then again it’s an old building so that is kind of expected. It has character though I would have prefer to not be walking on creaky floors. My room was ok though, it was just the hallways. But I guess some people may like that. So it’s certainly not a big thing and is no reason not to stay here.

The whole place is rather special and is a 16th Century farmhouse that has grown greatly over the years. The public rooms are beautifully done and our room was high up in the loft with beams and solid oak furniture. The staff we all so friendly, helpful and yet highly efficient with superb service in the restaurant where the presentation was perfect. With fine grounds, good and generous parking, plenty of space and delightful views, this is a good hotel.

Our only hesitation was the dinner menu which is only changed every 2/3 months and so a stay of several nights can be challenging as there are rather exotic choices. Clearly very influenced by trends and tastes, you get pigeon, octopus, squid and other rarities but more normal choices are on offer. It seems that spinach features in nearly everything and is somewhat hard/tough to eat…I would drop the dreadful stuff from the menu immediately! The main courses were fine but do not expect traditional English cuisine….the starters we didn’t try but the dessert courses were wonderful. Not eating there would be a shame and most find it perfect but next time, I might eat elsewhere because of the, to us, “difficult” evening menu.

Staff (especially Megan) were wonderfully helpful in the run up to our visit, resolving the confusion over the wrongly announced cancellation of the Christmas Fare. On our arrival the reception staff were very welcoming and assisted us while our room was prepared. The room exceeded our expectations being large, warm and well set out. The towel birthday cake was a delight and fun for my wife's birthday. The dinner was excellent (you have some amazing chefs) the restaurant staff were appropriately attentive, friendly and welcoming. Making the whole experience a delight.

Only a small thing - but there was no one in the bar when we arrived for a pre-dinner drink, but someone arrived after a short delay.

The room, a superior double, called Tisane was a very pleasant space. It had a big comfortable bed, two arm chairs, plenty of floor space, 2 big windows, an outside door, little private courtyard with outdoor seating with table, the bathroom had good lighting. The whole space was clean and in good decorative order. There was even a little fridge. I would very happily stay in that room again. The whole hotel looks beautiful. I would definitely stay again if in the area.

I'd have liked a few more main meal options on the lounge menu. I don't want to eat big expensive dinners when being a tourist, but I would like to eat a healthy main course each evening. Fish and chips does not suit me. How about some chicken or fish with vegetables? How about one of the 'posh' restaurant's main courses? but informal. Tiny point, the skirting boards need dusting; looking a bit grubby. Tiny point, don't be in anyway put off.

Lovely countryside location & a grand looking property, lovely garden with seating and areas to walk around. Superior room was spacious, big bath with shower. Dinner was tasty (but a little over-priced), steak was cooked well (medium) with lovely chips, lobster tagliatelle was nice (more lobster would have been better). Got a lovely pre-starter of prawn & chorizo on couscous with 4 types of bread and flavoured butter. Had an excellent massage in the spa. Large breakfast selection, full english was nice, very attentive staff.

TV was too small for the large room, but still watchable. Drinks from the bar were a bit pricey, but good a service. Some of the breakfast could have been hotter (eggs & mushrooms).

The room comfort was excellent. Food very good however the less formal restaurant wasn't available I guess due to the impending wedding so had to dine in the formal 'Carrier' dining room. The grounds were very well kept and relaxing.

With the absence of the less formal restaurant we were invited to eat in the lounge next to the bar. Although the furniture was very comfortable it did not really lend itself for dining. The room as previously mentioned very comfortable didn't have a fridge even though there was a housing to contain one in the tea/coffee making area.

Dreamy location with beautiful buildings and grounds. Staff were very attentive. Evening dining was a special experience with drinks in the lounge beforehand and silver service with dinner. Bedrooms were beautifully appointed with especially luxurious bathrooms.

Soundproofing between rooms is poor. We had a bad night of sleep on our second night because of very inconsiderate people in the room above us. The staff were kind enough to move us to another room and comped meal for us as a goodwill gesture. I would recommend requesting a room on the top floor.

Very comfortable and clean. Food was excellent and of good quality. Room touches like soap, teas etc were amazing and of high quality. The spa was outstanding the massages and treatments were exceptional. The staff so friendly and professional.

We booked 6 weeks in advance and despite requesting afternoon tea at a specific time when we got to the lounge we were told that they had no record of our booking and it was not available as they had sold out. This was very disappointing as we had arranged our day totally around this booking.

Wedding Anniversary visit to this hotel. Overnight and Dinner. Staff are exceptionally friendly and helpful. Accommodation was wonderful and exactly as described. Dinner was very good (Exceptional Service). This is not a cheap hotel and we paid what we expected to pay for the room we had as it was a special occasion. Overall a very good stay and we would definitely sat stay again.

Although dinner was good. We thought dinner was a little expensive and maybe the menu a little dated.

Our superior double room was lovely, very spacious, comfy bed and nice sitting area. We had dinner in the restaurant and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal, the service was great and staff friendly. well stocked bar with great choice of after dinner liqueurs to enjoy in the lovely lounge area with the complimentary chocolates.

We came back late afternoon and went for a drink in the bar. the member of staff kept disappearing for ages and people were waiting to be served with no-one around. Nearly all the staff were lovely, pleasant and friendly except one younger lady on reception whose manner was a bit curt.
