The girls on reception were fantastic and very helpful. The hotel was very clean as was the room. The room however was a little “tired” and the floors creaked terribly. In the room I had ( 307) the window was very small and couldn’t be opened properly and looking out was the back of the kitchens with the vent buzzing away all the time the kitchen was working! The smells from it made you hungry but the room constantly smelt of bacon! The mattress is Probably due for changing and the bed frame quite dangerous with the support legs and wheels sticking out ( I managed to break my toe on it) when the sheets were untucked you couldn’t see this and especially at night. The toilet seat I did mention to them was unsafe and you slid to one side when sitting on it! The shower and bath were however lovely but the mixer on the bath taps wants maintenance!

The price

The spa facilities were closed which was one of the main reasons why we booked this hotel. We stayed in the lodge and all the signage outside pointed out that there was water (stream) nearby and was potentially dangerous. It was amazing to see that when it got dark there was no lighting at all leading up to the lodge, absolutely pitch black. Not great when something so dangerous is close by and you can't see it let along the signage that warns about the problem when it's dark... The room was decent although unbearably hot despite the radiators being off. Not used to having a fan on in October... The toilet and shower wasn't cleaned properly and there was thick yellow gunk around the fixings of the toilet seat as well hair in the shower upon arrival.

Firstly, everything was as described on booking site, even better than described. Hotel was set on large grounds with plenty of trees and shrubs and ample parking for all with overflow parking at the back. Breakfast was tasty with plenty of choice and dining room had plenty of space for social distancing and fresh air circulating with large open door with garden view and seating outside as well. Our room was on ground floor next to car park but sound proofing was so good we could hardly hear anything. And bonus was that windows could be opened fully to let fresh air in. Room was very spacious with all new furniture, seating area and even window ledge seating! Bathroom nice and clean with plenty of hot water. Everything we needed for pleasant stay. It was good to know we could have used swimming pool and spa facilities for a small fee, although we did not use them this time.

Great location, plenty free parking, rooms clean on arrival and very well equipped including iron and board and a fan, decent kettle, big soft white towels, fabulous breakfasts in a lovely restaurant looking out on garden. Bonus having plenty of plugs and built jn USB charging point. Good free WiFi, large smart tv. There is apparently a Spa but at no time during my stay was this promoted so left without any knowledge of how it worked!

No one told me when I booked in that you had to request your room serviced and so didn’t get bins emptied for 4 days until I asked at reception! The excuse was Covid but I would have thought extra cleaning was better than none! Stayed a week and sheets not changed even after asking for room to be serviced. Large bathroom with bath and shower over but awful water pressure. No way I could have had a bath as water would have been cold before it was filled and shower spray hardly strong enough to rinse off soap! All staff were friendly and helpful bar one! I couldn’t read her name badge but she had coloured pigtails and was surly and abrupt and not welcoming. She needs some customer service training! Glad she wasn’t the first person I met on arrival!

We were in Ipswich for a family wedding and it was the ideal location for us , as our venue was 5 minutes away …. The hotel was very comfortable and welcoming….plenty of parking spaces , lovely gardens…. Our room was supposed to be executive standard, but I think that was a bit of an exaggeration ! ? Saying that …the room was very large , good facilities, lovely clean bedding and nice large bath towels ….so we were very comfortable…. We brought our little dog along ,as the hotel is pet friendly and we were able to take her into the bar to eat our food which was lovely . I would lastly like to say don’t be put off by some of the reviews …as we found that the staff were just amazing nothing was too much trouble for them , I wish every hotel we’ve stayed in had such great staff ….we would easily give them 5 stars xx

The surroundings inside was clean and pleasant as was the bedroom, the evening meal was lovely and the young bar staff who seem to love their job was helpful and jolly. Parking was ample. Cannot find fault with the hotel once we was moved to another room.. well done would definitely stay again.

When we arrived the room we was given was lovely the only trouble was a vibration coming from another part of the building which caused the window to vibrate and have a constant noise in the room, however when I went to the desk the receptionist and the manager sorted out straight away and moved us to another room.,....well done

The bed in my room was huge, very comfy and provided an excellent night's sleep. The room along with the rest of the hotel was clean and well presented. The breakfast was great.

This might sound picky but the tap in the bathroom was terrible. It was like a mixer tap but with 2 separate streams of water which meant 1 stream of very hot and 1 stream of cold instead of a single stream at a comfortable temperature.

The staff were very welcoming and I was very pleased with the room and facilities. There was loads of coffee, tea, sugar and milk in the room. More than I’ve found at other hotels. And fresh milk was available. I liked the lay-out that allowed coming and going without going past reception.

The only thing that was difficult, was reading the guess handbook. The lay-out of the table was such that the title of the section of interest was mid-way down the paragraph associated with it, rather than at the top, and required me to read sections above to work out where that section of interest started.

The room was nice even had a four poster bed. Love the garden at this hotel and the visiting chicken Breakfast was nice but a bit disorganised.

We had problems with our room key becoming deactivated every time we got to our room this was rectified every time but as our room was as far as you could get from the reception it wasn’t very helpful. One of the bedside light switches didn’t work so we couldn’t turn the light off remedied this by removing the bulb. It’s getting better in the past we had rooms where the bathroom light didn’t work. And another time a toilet that didn’t flush. Will we ever learn?

Stayed in an executive room which was lovely but there was no soap in the bathroom shower fitted to the wall and could not be hand held. Bathroom had net curtain which was see through with no blind. There was no remote control for the tv and house keeping could not find one that worked bed side light switch was very stiff Andy he light did not work when it clicked. You had to get out of bed to switch the tv off and difficult to change channels. It’s a good location we will stop again hopefully in a similar room as we slept really well. Staff are lovely especially Charlotte behind the bar and Lucy on reception.
